It may have started slowly, but Apple TV+’s Fountain of Youth has gradually become a streaming heavyweight despite its dismal 37% Rotten Tomatoes score. This National Treasure replacement for Apple TV+ has been directed by Guy Ritchie and stars Natalie Portman and John Krasinski in the pivotal roles. Latest figures show that it has gained 765.5 million minutes of viewing only in its first US week, becoming one of the biggest minute-wise debuts for the platform.
It is still at number 1 on Apple TV+ movie charts since its release on May 23, 2025. While the critics didn’t love the film, audiences have appreciated it well. This shows the disconnect between the viewer, engagement, and critical reception. Let’s have a look at why the movie remains a dominant presence on the streaming horizon.

It's a fantastic time to be Joseph Quinn. Over a decade after he unsuccessfully threw his hat in the ring to play Peter Parker in "Spider-Man: Homecoming," the English actor is enjoying the fruits of a multi-year hot streak that began with a breakout performance as Eddie Munson in "Stranger Things 4" back in 2022. Both he and the character became something of a viral hit, making him one of the most in-demand young actors almost overnight.
Having previously played smaller, supporting roles in British television dramas that seldom made much noise in the states, Quinn was now being courted to star in major film franchises, including a highly-anticipated sequel to Ridley Scott's "Gladiator," a prequel to John Krasinski's blockbuster horror series "A Quiet Place," and, of course, "The Fantastic Four: First Steps," arguably the most coveted Marvel Studios project produced in years. The Warner Bros. box office streak continues. Riding a high wave since the release of “A Minecraft Movie” four months ago, the studio’s winning ways continued this weekend with New Line’s “Weapons,” which earned an $18.2 million opening day from 3,202 locations — including $5.7 million from previews — and putting it on course for a $40 million opening weekend.
The sophomore film from director Zach Cregger is blowing past the performance of his debut film “Barbarian” both financially and critically. “Barbarian” was glowingly received by critics, but was tepidly received by opening weekend audiences and received a C+ on CinemaScore.
“Weapons” is not only set to eclipse the entire $40.8 million domestic run of “Barbarian” in just one weekend, but both critics and audiences are giving it a thumbs up with Rotten Tomatoes scores of 96% critics and 88% audience and a rare CinemaScore grade of A-.

This is one fountain that people are definitely drinking from: Apple TV+'s Fountain of Youth, the Guy Ritchie-directed adventure film about the mythical fountain of the same name, is currently a mega-hit on streaming. This comes despite the fact that the John Krasinski-led film, which was released just several months ago, received mostly negative reviews from critics.
As of this article's publication, Fountain of Youth is currently sitting in the #1 spot on Apple TV+'s most-streamed movies. The film is currently sitting above other popular films from the streamer, including the Anya Taylor-Joyand Miles Teller sci-fi epic The Gorge, and the Julianne Moore and Sydney Sweeney feature Echo Valley. The film itself has been critically panned, earning just a 35% critics' score and 38% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this clearly has not stopped people from enjoying it at home.

The question burning in every Office fan’s mind just got a lot more interesting. Will John Krasinski reprise his role as Jim Halpert in The Paper, Greg Daniels’ upcoming Peacock spinoff? Recent developments suggest the answer might be a resounding yes.
The trailer has already confirmed the return of Oscar Martinez (played by Oscar Nuñez), sparking a wave of speculation among fans, if Oscar is back, who else might make an appearance? That question gained further momentum when John Krasinski revealed something interesting! In a chat with Extra in May, he said,
Done! If they ask me, I’m in.
This small statement matters more to fans than one might think. As they’ll finally get some closure, those tiny updates that reassure viewers their favorite characters are still out there, doing exactly what we always imagined. Part of the magic of The Office was how real these people felt.

Calling all fans of The Office! After much anticipation, the official trailer for the new spinoff series The Paperhas finally arrived. The same documentary crew that took us inside Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch has found a new subject: The Toledo Truthteller, a historic (but struggling) newspaper located in Toledo, Ohio. While many Office fans were hesitant about The Paper, the first-look trailer has made some quite optimistic about the new Peacock series, which is set to premiere in September. This group of reporters have their own awkward, yet unique, flair about them, making them stand out from the characters we came to know and love. Office creator Greg Daniels is returning for the spinoff alongside Nathan for You co-creator Michael Koman — and if you're still missing the Dunder Mifflin crew, you’ll be happy to know that one fan-favorite character from the American version of The Office will make...

There’s an odd correlation between comedy and horror. The timing, build-up, and payoff to both laughs and scares are very similar. This is why comedians can be such great horror filmmakers, as evidenced by the likes of Jordan Peele and John Krasinski. A few years back, writer/director Zach Cregger from the sketch comedy troop The Whitest Kids U’Know splashed into horror with the incredible Barbarian. And now, he’s back to show that his first horror movie was no fluke with Weapons.
Weapons is about a town in which, one night at 2:17am, an entire class of third graders got up out of their beds and ran from their houses into the night. Well, almost an entire class. One kid was left. And no other children from the school disappeared, just the one class.
That’s the setup.

David Ellison finally has his prize.
On Thursday, the Skydance Media founder closed the $8 billion merger with Paramount Global that he orchestrated, enduring political turbulence and skepticism about the viability of the company’s TV and movie empire for over a year. In order for the deal to pay off, Ellison, who will serve as chairman and CEO of the newly rechristened Paramount Skydance, must maintain strong partnerships with the creative community. Before the sale, Paramount has lacked the financial resources of competitors like Disney and Netflix, but it has been the home of top talent. Keeping them happy and busy cooking up ideas for new film, TV and streaming franchises will be critically important if Paramount Skydance wants to outmaneuver other studios.

Peacock has released the first trailer for The Paper, the forthcoming spin-off to the beloved mockumentary The Office. Domhnall Gleeson, who’s playing Ned Sampson, the newly appointed editor-in-chief for the struggling Midwestern newspaper, has showcased promise in his brief scenes in the trailer.

Chris Pratt is hard at work right now filming the second season of The Terminal List, but long before he ever suited up as James Reece, he starred in a space sci-fi epic that’s soaring on streaming charts. Pratt stars alongside Jennifer Lawrence (The Hunger Games) and Michael Sheen (Good Omens) in Passengers, a 2016 film that follows a traveler who wakes up 90 years early on his journey to a distant colony planet. Sydney Sweeney is no stranger to dominating the cultural conversation—you may have noticed the actress has been in the news lately. While her latest thriller Echo Valley continues to rack up impressive viewership on Apple TV+, the Euphoria and Anyone But You star is once again at the center of a media firestorm. Produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Beast and Encounter filmmaker Michael Pearce, Echo Valley stars Julianne Moore as a weathered horse trainer whose reclusive life is shattered when her daughter Claire (Sweeney) arrives—bloodied and hysterical.

According to FlixPatrol, it trails only The Gorge (starring Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller) and the John Krasinski/Natalie Portman adventure Fountain of Youth, while outperforming high-profile titles like Wolfs and Greyhound.

It’s perhaps the comic book film genre’s greatest conundrum: how do you crack the Fantastic Four? This weekend, despite positive word of mouth and a solid opening weekend haul, the quartet’s latest — subtitled “First Steps” — tumbled 66% at the domestic box office. Undoubtedly, before Hollywood looks to craft the next adventure, they’ll look back at what has worked before — and the most recent unequivocal success came from the simply titled “Fantastic Four” in 2005, which featured Jessica Alba, Chris Evans, Michael Chiklis, and Iaon Gruffudd.
Now, “unequivocal,” to be fair, does not count reviews — “First Steps” has most certainly outpaced this older version in terms of critical reception. But the film grossed three times its budget and managed to produce a sequel in 2007 — “Rise of the Silver Surfer” — which also made money. Of course, after that, Marvel Studios became a thing, and something called the MCU happened. But...

Ioan Gruffudd, who notably portrayed Mister Fantastic/Reed Richards in 20th Century Fox’s Fantastic Four duology, reflected on the scrapped plans for a proposed third film that never came to be.
In a Q&a with Vulture tied to the release of Marvel’s new take on the storied comic book family, The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the Welsh actor talked about feeling “incredibly proud to be part of such a beautiful franchise,” which comprised 2005’s Fantastic Four and 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer.
“The mindset was that we were going to do three, and I think the second movie was equally successful as the first and equally enjoyable for the fans,” said Gruffudd, who attended the world premiere of the MCU entry, which features Pedro Pascal in the main role. “I particularly loved working with Doug Jones [as the Silver Surfer] on that movie, who’s just a terrific...

Who could forget the opening scene of "Lost" — in J.J. Abrams and Damon Lindelof's masterpiece of a pilot episode — where our hero, Jack (Matthew Fox), awakens in a jungle on a seemingly uninhabited island to find the wreckage of his Oceanic flight and its survivors screaming and wandering about in shock? It's one of the most effective, mysterious, and captivating cold opens ever made. But what's a "cold open" exactly?
In television, a cold open is the very first scene of an episode that always appears before the title card (or opening credits) of any given series. It's one of the greatest storytelling tools TV writers have. It can come in many different forms and shapes, taking up usually five to ten minutes to immediately capture the viewer's attention as potently as possible.

Taking to his Ig, John Krasinski announced that the long-awaited threequel, A Quiet Place 3, is locked for a July 9 release in 2027. For fans confused about the 2024 release, A Quiet Place: Day One, helmed by Michael Sarnoski, the movie was not a threequel but a prequel to the franchise that commenced back in 2018.
Considering the franchise has yet to drop the ball, both in terms of critical reception and box-office draw, fans can expect an experience akin to Krasinski’s previous two revered entries in the series.

The next entry in the A Quiet Place film series will open in theaters for a summer 2027 release date, and original director John Krasinski is returning. A Quiet Place opened in April 2018 and became a surprise hit with critics and audiences, launching a new horror property for Paramount Pictures. The original 2018 film has blossomed into a full-blown franchise with a direct sequel in 2021, a prequel in 2024, and now a third entry set for release in 2027.
Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures has dated A Quiet Place Part III for a July 9, 2027, release date. Krasinski, who directed the first two films in the franchise, will return to helm the third installment. It is not clear if the original cast, including Emily Blunt and Cillian Murphy, will reprise their roles from the previous two films. That said, fans should expect familiar faces headlining the long-awaited sequel, which hits theaters in a crowded summer.

Just when we thought it was finally safe to make a sound, it looks like John Krasinski isn't quite done with A Quiet Place yet. Having handed the reins of his sci-fi horror franchise over to Pig director Michael Sarnoski for last year's critically and commercially lauded prequel A Quiet Place: Day One, Krasinski took to Instagram earlier this evening to officially tease his return to the series' helm for A Quiet Place Part III. Check out the filmmaker's appropriately low-key stealth announcement below;

A Quiet Place Part III is on the way. The movie will be the fourth installment in the post-apocalyptic horror franchise, which takes place in a world where alien monsters who hunt by sound have hugely reduced Earth's population.
The first two movies were directed by, written (or co-written) by, and starred John Krasinski, who is likely best known as an actor for his small-screen roles in The Office and Jack Ryan. The most recent installment was 2024's A Quiet Place: Day One, a prequel that was directed by Michael Sarnoski and starred Lupita Nyong'o and Joseph Quinn.
On his official Instagram account, John Krasinski confirmed that A Quiet Place Part III is set to debut on July 9, 2027. Additionally, Deadline confirms that Krasinski will be directing, writing, and producing the upcoming installment.
Platinum Dunes and Sunday Night Productions (which John Krasinski co-founded with Allyson Seeger in 2013) are behind the sequel.

There are three films in Paramount’s sci-fi horror A Quiet Place franchise – but the most recently released film, last year’s A Quiet Place: Day One, didn’t count as “A Quiet Place Part III.” That film, directed by Michael Sarnoski, was a prequel story that was set in the same world as the first two movies and had a character connection to A Quiet Place Part II, but didn’t continue the trilogy. A few months ago, we heard that A Quiet Place Part III was waiting for a window to open in the schedule of John Krasinski, who directed the first two movies – and now, Deadline reports and Krasinski confirms that window has opened. Krasinski is officially on board to write, direct, and produce the sequel, aiming for a theatrical release date of July 9, 2027.

John Krasinski is returning as the director, writer and producer of “A Quiet Place Part III.”
The cast is not confirmed at this time, so it’s unclear if Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, who co-starred with Krasinski in the first film, will return. If you don’t know what happens to Krasinski’s character, we won’t spoil it, but don’t expect a family reunion.
Plot details of the sequel are being kept under wraps, but we’re going out on a limb to guess that they involve alien creatures with very sharp hearing, and human beings who have to evade them on tiptoe while using their inside voices.

Twenty years ago, Ioan Gruffudd played Reed Richards in Fantastic Four, the first live-action movie based on Marvel’s first family (not counting the unreleased Roger Corman version). Despite the largely negative reviews, the film still did well at the box office, grossing $333.5 million on a budget of less than $100 million. A sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, followed two years later and was met with a slightly warmer reception and grossed over $300 million. As the cast had signed a three-picture deal, they were all expecting to return for one more movie… but it never happened.
While speaking with Vulture, Gruffudd commented on the unmade Fantastic Four 3. “The mindset was that we were going to do three, and I think the second movie was equally successful as the first and equally enjoyable for the fans,” he explained. “I particularly loved working with Doug Jones [who played the Silver Surfer] on that movie, who...

Hollywood is full of power couples: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski. But Dave Franco and Alison Brie have taken “power couple” to another level, starring and producing in the buzziest horror movie of the year, Together, a darkly satirical exploration of codependency through body horror.
We at FandomWire got to speak with Together stars Dave Franco and Alison Brie about working together as a couple on such an intense horror movie, the natural transition from comedy to horror, and why movies like Together demand the big screen experience. Check out the full interview here:
Together Dave Franco and Alison Brie Interview
FandomWire: Obviously, you guys are married in real life, and in Together, you play a couple. If you could remake any movie about a couple, starring yourselves, what would you choose?

Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd first played Reed Richards in 2005's Fantastic Four, and later reprised the role in 2007's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. His take on Mister Fantastic remains well-liked among fans, though Gruffudd has yet to return to the blockbuster realm.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrived in theaters last weekend, bringing the original Fantastic Four cast back into the conversation. Gruffudd, Jessica Alba, Michael Chiklis, and Chris Evans didn't appear in the Marvel Studios movie, though there were rumours about the latter showing up as Nomad (setting the stage for next December's Avengers: Doomsday).
Vulture recently spoke with Gruffudd in a piece that takes a deep dive into his role in the Fantastic Four movies. It's well worth a read to learn how he approached playing the character, and the conversation eventually turned to the infamous deleted scene with Mister Fantastic transforming into Hugh Jackman's Wolverine.

Natalie Portman opened 2025 by starring opposite John Krasinski in Fountain of Youth, the action thriller from Guy Ritchie. Now, only a few months later, one of her next projects just took a major step forward.
