Luke Wilson in Off Camera with Sam Jones (2014)
Bob Wilson, Television Executive and Father of Luke and Owen Wilson, Has Died
Luke Wilson in Off Camera with Sam Jones (2014)
Robert A. “Bob” Wilson — father of Luke Wilson, Owen Wilson and Andrew Wilson — has died, Luke confirmed to the Dallas Morning News. Luke told the outlet that his dad died Friday after years of battling Alzheimer’s disease. He was 75.

A longtime presence in Dallas’ television arena, Bob helped pave the way for Kera, North Texas’ public broadcasting station. His influence inspired a 2011 documentary called Bob Wilson and the Early Years of Kera, released as the station marked its 50th anniversary — a celebration whose gala Bob was too sick to attend at the time, according to the Dallas Morning News.

See Behind-the-Scenes Shots From Wes Anderson’s The Royal Tenenbaums
Matt Zoller Seitz’s new book The Wes Anderson Collection features deep explorations into all seven of the director’s films, along with in-depth interviews with Anderson himself. The lush coffee table book, which is in stores tomorrow, illustrates these insights with copious stills and illustrations; the chapter on The Royal Tenenbaums (excerpted on Vulture) has a bonus in its candid, alternately warm and dramatic behind-the-scenes shots taken by Laura Wilson. Besides being an acclaimed photographer, Laura also happens to be the mother of longtime Anderson collaborators Owen and Luke Wilson. Owen, who co-wrote Tenenbaums, has been friends with Anderson since college, and thus Wilson’s presence on the sets only enhanced the appropriate family vibe. Here, Wilson walks us through the memories that these Tenenbaums shoot elicit.

'2012': The End Again, By Kurt Loder
Global warning.

A scene from "2012"

Photo: Sony Pictures

Even if most of the Earth were to be destroyed by a natural cataclysm predicted long ago by the ancient Mayans (or Hopis, or even the I Ching — take your pick), director Roland Emmerich would surely survive, if only to crawl back and polish off what little was left.

Going in to Emmerich's "2012," I was prepared to set my brain on spin-cycle and just roll with it — who doesn't enjoy a good CGI soak now and then? And there is in fact some snazzy digitalia on display here: a monster tsunami crashing over the Himalayas; a spectacular White House takedown (yet again); and some monster-wave ship-twirling that's truly, uh, titanic. An L.A. freeway buckles and falls, Las Vegas craps out, and the coast of California rears up and slides right into the ocean. All that, plus lots of collapsing high-rise real estate,...

Is .2012. apocalypse new? No, sorry, it.s apocalypse same .ol. Unless you.re one of the a new generation of moviegoers that have never seen .Independence Day. or .The Day After Tomorrow. (both directed by .2012,. helmsman Roland Emmerich), you.ve taken this roller-coaster ride before. To paraphrase Spiro Agnew, if you.re seen one building topple, one wave immerse thousands, one statue crushed, several people falling through the cracks to their death, one giraffe and one elephant hauled onto a would-be Noah.s ark.well, you.ve seen .em all.

So what.s left in .2012. to delight us? Why the story, of course. Sad to say,...
