When ex-firefighter Scott Nylander (Casper Van Dien) and a group of ecologists approach a silo filled with oil to hang a banner with an eco-message, they suddenly realize they came to the wrong place at the wrong time. There’s a bomb attached which is going to explode in a few seconds! As our heroes are hiding, a mass explosion causes a huge flaming tornado, which starts to destroy everything in its way. It turns out that the silo contained an experimental fuel called Mt-11 crafted by the Synco Company. Scott and his friends are accused of being terrorists that caused the explosion. Chased by Synco mercenaries, they have to stop the fire twister, before it destroys La.

I was extremely impressed by the early episodes of Underground, Wgn America's drama about a mass slave escape from a Georgia plantation. Over the course of its first season, my estimation for the storytelling and performances only grew, and I was very glad when Wgn recently ordered another season. If you have the means to catch up (Wgn's not available on all cable systems, the episodes are available for purchase but not to stream on any subscription service), I strongly recommend it. Right before production kicks off, Martin McDonagh‘s highly anticipated Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri has improved a remarkably impressive ensemble. The Wrap report on the additions of Peter Dinklage, John Hawkes, and Manchester By the Sea‘s Lucas Hedges, who are to play, in order: a man fancying the picture’s lead (Frances McDormand); said lead’s ex-husband; and said lead’s son.

The 2013 Toronto International Film Festival announced a portion of its lineup on Tuesday morning, with big films like "August: Osage County," "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom," "Gravity" and "12 Years A Slave" making the cut. Bill Condon's "The Fifth Estate," about WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange, will open the prestigious film festival. Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Assange, with support from Daniel Bruhl, Laura Linney, Anthony Mackie and Stanley Tucci.

"It's not an easy thing to do -- certainly within the studio system," Condon told HuffPost Entertainment when the film's trailer debuted. "So it was thrilling that this one was happening. This is a movie that includes complicated issues. There are such good arguments on all sides of this. Having the chance to explore it for a year seemed really exciting."

Let's just say that film fans who have followed director David Gordon Green's career for some time were left perplexed after watching "The Sitter." Released by 20th Century Fox, the Jonah Hill comedy was a disappointment with critics and at the box office -- "The Sitter" owns a Rotten Tomatoes score of 22 percent and earned just $34 million at the global box office.

Green, however, is certainly not apologetic for the film, even if it even it doesn't speak to his core audience the way festival favorites like "All the Real Girls" and the box-office smash "Pineapple Express" did. The reason he chose to make "The Sitter," though, had everything to do with the stress he suffered while making his pet project, "Your Highness."

Which brings this full circle to Green's new festival favorite, "Prince Avalanche" -- which is currently screening at the Tribeca Film Festival after debuting at Sundance in January.

Matt D’Elia, the writer, director and “star” of “American Animal,” plays Jimmy, a wiry twentysomething living off the considerable wealth of his rich father. He never leaves his apartment, despite repeatedly coughing up blood and showing noticeable signs of illness. Parading around his apartment in elaborate costumes, creating false identities for himself, and speaking in made-up languages, he considers each step he takes a sample of performance art, a “free show” for his “audiences.” He also hates jobs, disdains reading, and cares little for the comfort level of others around him, under the guise of “putting on the ritz.” The fact that he goes through the entirety of “American Animal” without being punched, murdered, or locked in a spaceship and shot into the sun is some sort of goddamned miracle.

Accusations of ageism fly around Hollywood all the time, but they seemed to be fairly definitively refuted in recent weeks when a 78-year-old became the hottest screenwriter in town after his film sold, attracted Ridley Scott and Michael Fassbender, and was fast-tracked into production this May. Of course, it helps if that 78-year-old is Cormac McCarthy, the Pulitzer prize-winning author of "Blood Meridian," "All The Pretty Horses," "The Road" and the source material for Best Picture winner "No Country For Old Men." But it's still a rare achievement, to get a film from the page to a greenlight, with A-list talent attached, in only a matter of days.

As so often happens with hot spec scripts, McCarthy's screenplay "The Counselor," leaked almost immediately, and like many others, we managed to get our grubby hands on a copy. And as one of the most talked-about scripts in a while, we thought...

Chicago – HBO brings back a few of their most larger-than-life personalities with the third (and final) season premiere of “Eastbound & Down” and the stateside premiere of “Life’s Too Short.” Danny McBride/Kenny Powers should be familiar to anyone with an HBO subscription by now and the super-talented pair that made HBO’s “Extras” — Stephen Merchant & Ricky Gervais — are behind another bout of awkward comedy with A-list guest stars. Both shows are flawed but damn funny. You could do worse on a Sunday night.

On paper, HBO’s “Eastbound & Down” and “Life’s Too Short” may not seem to have much in common and yet they are perfectly paired on Sunday nights not only by virtue of being unlike anything else on TV but also on a critical level. “Eastbound,” which is starting its third and final season, has been better in the past but still shows signs of that first-season greatness.

HBO has released the trailer for the third and final season of its Danny McBride-starring comedy, Eastbound and Down. Created by Jody Hill (The Foot Fist Way) and David Gordon Green (George Washington, The Sitter), the first two seasons tracked fowl-mouthed, washed-up baseball icon Kenny Powers (McBride) as he moved back to his hometown and courted success in Mexico, respectively. This year, Powers is headed to Miami Beach, where he’s making a last ditch effort to climb back up to the majors. Returning along with McBride are many of the show’s supporting players, including John Hawkes, Will Ferrell, and The Catechism Cataclysm’s always hilarious Steve Little.
