Tabish Habib was born in Long Island, New York in 1990. His father, Raja Habib, was an established actuary at the time and his mother, Shafaq Habib, a successful jewellery designer. The couple along with their two daughters and newly born son moved to their native country of Pakistan that same year. Tabish developed his love for cinema, through his father who used to manage the D.W. Griffith Theatre which was an art house theater located in midtown Manhattan back in the late 70's. Growing up in Islamabad, Pakistan, he would spend countless hours playing metal music with his friends and making videos along the lovely mountain peaks of the Margalla Hills. At the age of 18, he attended the University of San Francisco, where he majored in Media Studies and minored in Business and Film studies. While at university, He made his first short film which went on to win 3 awards at the campus movie fest. After graduating, he worked as an A.V technician at his university before moving back to Pakistan where he founded Piphany Productions. At Piphany, he went on to make several music videos for a variety of Pakistani indie musicians such as Maid Dhai Band, Poor Rich Boy, Shorbanoor, Takatak, Keeray Makoray, Biryani Brothers and Janoobi Khargosh. He also worked on several corporate and commercial films to pay the bills. His music video for Mai Dhai Band's "Sarak Sarak" won the Bee Hype award in 2014 and his documentary "Unforgettable Khusargang" was part of the official selection at the Cinema Verde Festival 2017. He also worked as Director of Photography on the short film, "Zom-Com" which won best film at the 48-Hour Film Festival in Pakistan in 2018. In 2020, he completed his masters at the Met Film School in Film & Television Production, located at London's prestigious Ealing Studios. His thesis film, "May I have this seat" earned him a first-class distinction and went on to be submitted for a student BAFTA and OSCAR in 2020.
