Ramayana: Ranbir Kapoor & Yash To Share Limited Screen Time, Deets Inside
Image
Ranbir & Yash Allegedly Share Less Screen In Ramayana, Here’s Why(Photo Credit –Instagram)

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana is one of the most awaited films in India. With Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and Yash as Raavan, fans expected some powerful scenes between the two stars. But new reports say that Ranbir and Yash will not appear together for most of the movie. The makers have closely followed the original Valmiki Ramayana, where Ram and Raavan do not meet until the final battle. This choice adds more emotional impact to the story.

Ram & Raavan’s Stories Will Run Separately

According to Zee News, a source close to production revealed, “The makers have chosen to stay true to the original Valmiki text, where Lord Ram and Raavan do not encounter each other through most of the epic. Their worlds remain apart, their stories unfolding in parallel until destiny brings them face-to-face in the climactic battle.

‘Singham Again’ Movie Ending Explained & Mid-Credits Scene: Will Chulbul Pandey Join Singham?
Image
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Singham Again is the least entertaining film of the entire Rohit Shetty Cop Universe. The idea of adapting the Ramayana had a lot of potential, but Shetty and his team of writers missed the mark by a mile. There was no storyline, the dialogs were weak, and I felt really bad for the actors and the entire creative unit because characters like Ravana, if executed properly, would have broken every box office record. There is a reason why a film like Kgf and a character like Rocky struck a chord amidst the masses. Making a mass entertainer does not mean that you do not work on the script at all. As a writer and a creative person, you do cater to mass sensibilities, but you cannot present a weak and sluggish screenplay and expect the film to become an overnight sensation. So...

‘Paradise’ 2024 Movie Ending Explained And Recap: Is Keshav Dead Or Alive?
Image
Paradise is a rare thriller film involving a couple that discusses the politics of the country and also, at the same time, discusses the relationship dynamics of the two people involved in it. Paradise is a Sri Lankan-Keralite venture produced by Mani Ratnam’s Madras Talkies. Madras Talkies is no stranger when it comes to discussing stories from Sri Lanka. Mani Ratnam’s Kannathil Muthamithal is probably one of the best family dramas surrounding the Sri Lankan civil war. Paradise is set in a different time period in Sri Lanka, a more recent one, and a couple maneuvering through it as tourists.

Monkey Man Ending Explained: Swallowing The Son
Image
This article contains massive spoilers for "Monkey Man."

The medium of cinema is brilliantly, endlessly malleable. It's an art form able to communicate so many perspectives, stories, emotions and the like, yet there are some genres that feel especially inherent to the medium. Action is undeniably one of these; even the most basic, average action movie combines elements of sound, cinematography, actors giving performances that are equal parts physical and vocal, music, choreography and more. In other words, it takes every element available to the filmmaker to construct a convincing, engaging action sequence, something that can't be exactly replicated in, say, a song, picture, or painting.

Perhaps this is one reason why so many action films dabble in myth: the very construction of an action film requires the establishment of a hyper-reality, so it follows that larger-than-life themes, tropes, and traditions would fit inside such a world. This is a...

Prabhas’ ‘Adipurush’ Scores Divine Debut at International Box Office Despite Mixed Reviews
Image
“Adipurush,” director Om Raut’s retelling of Indian mythological epic “Ramayana,” emerged the fifth highest box office earner in the world in its opening weekend, despite some mixed reviews at home.

The film, which stars Prabhas (the Baahubali franchise), Kriti Sanon (“Bhediya”) and Saif Ali Khan (“Vikram Vedha”), opened on June 16 worldwide in Hindi, Telugu Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada-language versions. Raut’s storytelling, which uses modern techniques to retell the ancient epic, divided critics, but evidently had little dissuasive effect on audiences.

“Adipurush” scored a $2.5 million weekend in the U.S. and $30.6 million internationally, including India, making it the fifth highest weekend grosser after “The Flash,” “Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,” “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse” and “Elemental,” according to numbers released by Comscore. It was the second highest Indian worldwide opener of the year after Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan” and the fifth highest Indian opener of all time after “Baahubali 2: The Conclusion,...

‘Jesus cameo in Adipurush’: Memes on Prabhas-Om Raut film flood social media

EntertainmentThe Prabhas-Kriti Sanon starrer has been subjected to brutal trolling on social media by fans and Hindu right-wing nationalists, who are disappointed with director Om Raut’s modern retelling of the Ramayana. The internet has been abuzz with news of actor Prabhas’s new film Adipurush, which released on Friday, June 16. The Prabhas-Kriti Sanon starrer has been harshly criticised and subjected to brutal trolling on social media. The highly anticipated film, made on a reported budget of Rs 600 crore, has garnered the wrath of fans and Hindu right-wing nationalists, who are disappointed with director Om Raut’s retelling of the mythological Ramayana in a relatively contemporary form. Saif Ali Khan, who plays Ravana in the film, is seen sporting a modern haircut and wearing heavy kaajal. Other characters such as Vibhishana (Ravana’s younger brother) and Indrajith (Ravana’s eldest son) also sport funky tattoos and modern hairstyles. It is indeed strange that the movie,...

Netizens outraged over 'jalegi tere baap ki' dialogue in 'Adipurush'
Image
Mumbai, June 17 (Ians) The latest release ‘Adipurush’, starring Prabhas and Kriti Sanon, has garnered a lot of flak on social media for its VFX, script, design and direction, but one of the things that netizens have been particularly ruthless in their criticism about is its dialogues.

Dialogues specifically regarding the Lanka Dahan scene where Lord Hanuman is heard mouthing the lines “jalegi bhi tere baap ki” to Meghnad.

A day after its release, Twitterati erupted with criticism and relentless trolling of the dialogues which most termed as “tapori” and “chapri” which do not fit the nature or the stature that one associates with Valmiki’s legendary epic Ramayana.

A user wrote: “Of the Lanka Dahan scene, Ravana’s son lights up Hanuman ji Tail: Jali na.. Abhi to aur jalegi. Jiski jalti hai wahi janta hai.”

“Hanuman ji: Kapda tere baap ka. Tel tere baap ka. Aag bhi tere baap ki.

Movie Review | Adipurush: Too hot to handle
Image
Adipurush is an Indian mythological film based on the Hindu epic Ramayana by Valmiki. The film is written and directed by Om Raut. While Adipurush literally translates to ‘first man’, Om Raut interprets it as ‘best man’ in the context of the film. We have two great references – ‘Ramayana’ (1987) – of course the most loved and revered version by Ramanand Sagar and the other being ‘Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama’ (1993) by Yugo Sako. Frankly, for the generation who have loved either or both find it difficult to sink into anything else. There have been number of other attempts too, to create the epic. Om Raut who shot to fame with Tanhaji is the latest to attempt re-telling the epic; finds it too hot to handle!

Story

The film begins with a prelude in painted stills and Raghava (Prabhas) accepting his father Dashratha’s predicament and proceeds for his exile along...

'Adipurush' actor Manohar Pandey describes the difficulty of playing Angad
Image
Actor Manohar Pandey, who is best known for his work in films like ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and ‘Super 30’, plays the role of Angad, son of Bali and the nephew of the Vanar king Sugriv in Om Raut’s mythological film ‘Adipurush’.

The actor initially faced difficulty because the scenes were being shot through motion capture.

Speaking of the difficulties he faced whilst playing Angad, Manohar said: “Yes, it was a big challenge because first time in India I think motion capture has been done by director Om Raut and I am part of it, so I didn’t know about how motion capture is going to be shot. We did intense workshops before shooting to understand the technicalities of motion capture.”

He continued: “I worked on how Angad will walk and behave. Ashish Pathode guided and trained to approach the character of Angad differently because in motion capture while performing...

What The “Lower Caste” Means In Class Season 1
Image
Warning! Spoiler alert for Class season 1.

Class season 1 delves into an elite academic world where students of the “lower caste” must quickly adapt to their new surroundings. While the idea of castes might be an alien concept for some western viewers, India’s social structure is steeped in history, and has evolved significantly throughout the centuries. Class shows how the complexities of another country can reach an audience who may have little to no experience of such issues, allowing for something of a cultural exchange in a fun and unique way.

Specifically, Class tells the story of three working class students in Delhi, India, when they transfer to an elite institution, Hampton International, after their public school burns down. How these three students - Dheeraj Kumar Valmiki, Saba Manzoor, and Balli Sehrawat - interact with their affluent classmates in the Netflix TV show, and the tension that comes as a result,...

Anime Review: Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama (1992) by Ram Mohan, Yugo Sako
Image
If you ever considered catching up with mammoths of world literature in a moviesque nutshell, this 1993’s Japanese animation may be a good way to tick off the Indian epic “Ramayana.” Yes, you’ve read it correctly. Indian classic made in Japan. It was marketed as an Indian-Japanese co-production, and Indian Ram Mohan, the co-director, aided a lot with culture-sensitive elements during the proceedings. However, the majority of the crew involved in this production were Japanese and all the work took place in Japan.

The Legend of Prince Rama is screening at Japan Society

From the official website of the film, we can learn that: the Indian side was in charge of the scenario, art settings, dialogue recording, music, etc., while the Japanese side was in charge of the storyboards, background, original drawings, animation, coloring, photography, and editing. On the Indian side, top-notch scenario writer, music director, artists, and film actors of the day participated,...

Prabhas-Starring ‘Adipurush’: Director Om Raut Reveals Details of Epic ‘Ramayana’ Adaptation (Exclusive)

“Adipurush,” starring Prabhas (the “Baahubali” films), is one of the most anticipated Indian films of 2022. It is directed by Om Raut, who directed Ajay Devgn-starring “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior,” the biggest Indian box office hit of 2020 with $50 million.

Here are the 30 best performances from south cinema in 2020
Image
CinemaA look at performances from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada cinema that left us impressed. Sowmya Rajendran2020 was a dismal year for film industries as theatres remained closed for months. Consequently, many films released directly on Over-the-Top platforms. Actors, directors and producers also capitalised on the audience opening up to the relatively new medium and made content exclusively for the Ott market. Even though many of the big south Indian releases scheduled for this year were postponed, there were several notable films which were released. Perhaps these wouldn't have received the same attention if they'd gone to theatres first, considering the competition. In all the films which came out this year — in theatres and Ott — several actors made their mark. Here's a look at such performances from Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada cinema that left us impressed, irrespective of whether the films worked overall or not. The list is in the order of the release.

‘Ala Vaikuntapurramulo’ review: Allu Arjun is smashingly good in Trivikram’s family drama
ReviewThe typical Trivikram movie is largely clean and highly entertaining in the second half, well-shot by Ps Vinod.Krishna SripadaOf all the directors in the Telugu film industry, Trivikram’s words carry the most weight, literally and double figuratively. He is a man of literature and philosophy. That’s why his slightest shenanigans break your heart, because educated, thinking writers cannot be sexist or racist. But we forgive him too, because he dishes out gems in his movies, lines that cinema audiences otherwise would never encounter, because who reads these days anyway? Ala Vaikuntapurramulo – what a wonderful sounding title – is a typical Trivikram movie. This one too tries to tell you a nice story in a nice way, weighed down by the expectations of fans – you can almost hear Telugu fans crying ‘where is the comedy’, ‘where are the fights’, ‘why is the movie slow’, etc. Bantu (Allu Arjun) is the son of a secretary,...

'Thippara Meesam' review: Where's the story in this jungle of cliches?
ReviewThere's no story, just a random screenplay where scenes appear to have been added because well, the audience has two and a half hours to kill. Krishna SripadaIt is probably true that no one sets out to make a bad movie. There is money involved. There are actors like Sri Vishnu involved, displaying all the honesty and sincerity that an aspiring star has before he loses it all after making it big. And then, there is the need to squeeze the resources to the best use they can be put to. All of that reflects in Krishna Vijay's Thippara Meesam, the effort that a bunch of not so well-known members of the film fraternity have put in their cinema. But, what's missing is the soul. You can jump up a hundred times to reach a fruit hanging high from a tree, but if you don't have the necessary skills or tools,...
