One translation of the original Brothers Grimm fairy tale, written in 1812, reads: "Snow-White grew up and became ever more beautiful. This line leads into the famous story of Snow White meeting the seven unique dwarfs and being tricked by the evil queen.

Since there are no other references to her age, we are led to the conclusion that Snow White is only a little girl of seven. Throughout the fairy tale, Snow White is consistently referred to as a child by the other characters: The huntsman who spares her, the curious dwarfs, and the narrator. The story ends with the prince dislodging the wicked queen's apple from Snow White's throat and declaring, "I love you more than anything else in the world. Come with me to my father's castle.

Laura Baumeister’s sophomore feature “What Follows is My Death” (“Lo Que Sigue Es Mi Muerte”) has lined up new co-producers in Spain’s burgeoning La Vida and newly launched Somos Maravillosa, joining Mexico’s Tarco Estudio and Catatonia Cine.

The production has also confirmed two key cast members in prominent Mexican-Polish actor Ludwika Paleta (“Carrusel”) and Wendy Chinchilla (“Clara Sola”).

The film, scheduled to shoot in the second semester of 2026, follows Virginia, a young Nicaraguan migrant who escapes from her captors and ventures into the Mexican desert on a full moon night. After falling into an animal trap, she is rescued by Aurora, a sheep shearer, who takes her to her ranch. As they fall in love, they must confront the hostilities of an old masculine world, while Virginia completes her transformation into a nahual woman.

After throwing a triumphant ball that showcased the now happily married duke and duchess and her newly healed husband who was shot in the previous episode, Bertha would soon learn that George was in no mood to party. The railroad tycoon never got over the idea that his daughter was forced to marry someone she didn’t love, so he walked out on Bertha at episode’s end.

Here, creator Julian Fellowes and executive producer Sonja Warfield explain what drove George to leave his wife and why Bertha’s actions toward Gladys earlier in the season shouldn’t leave 21st century viewers clutching their pearls.

Oscar-winner Bill Condon has finished his long-nurtured film of the Kander-and-Ebb musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, with Jennifer Lopez playing both faded movie goddess Aurora and the lethal Spider Woman who haunts a political prisoner’s imagination. The picture re-interprets the 1993 Tony-winning stage show that itself sprang from Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel.

Filmed at Kearny, New Jersey’s Basin Studios on a reported $30 million budget, the project was financed independently by Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions alongside Artists Equity and Mohari Media. 50 years have passed since "Rollerball" was released in theaters in 1975, but this sci-fi cult classic still hits hard. If anything, it only feels more prescient with its near-future setting where corporations rule the world, and where every citizen is considered a customer. This might feel confusing at first, as "Rollerball" is technically a sports movie, where its titular futuristic sport lends the story a certain amount of action-first kineticism. While this is true, Norman Jewison's 1975 classic mounts a flawed social commentary that is scathing in its own way, even though some aspects of the story haven't aged too well and can be deemed exploitative.

The dangerous, corporate-mandated sport of Rollerball is more than just vapid entertainment. It is a tool used to control vastly scattered social classes, disguised as a necessary spectacle that can end conflict and eradicate bigotry at its root.

The Kaiju No. 8 TV anime series released creditless versions of the new opening and ending themes today. The first-look image of Hannibal creator/showrunner Bryan Fuller and lead star Mads Mikkelsen's new movie, Dust Bunny, has been revealed. Revolving around an eight-year-old girl enlisting a skilled hitman to kill the monster under her bed, the horror thriller will mark Fuller's directorial debut.

Now, Collider has unveiled the first-look image of Dust Bunny, teasing Fuller's alluring and vibrant world. Mikkelsen, Weaver, and Solan can be seen sitting on a dark green couch while having a conversation. Following last week's incredible season premiere, The Gilded Age season 3 episode 2 is off to the races as Bertha and Gladys' cold war continues. Gladys run away from home in the middle of the night after a disagreement with her mother over her marital plans. When Gladys is discovered missing, it's instant chaos in the Russell home, but the chaos merely continues once she's found.

Of course, Gladys made a beeline for Billy's home, which isn't pleasing to hear from Bertha. In the aftermath, Bertha tangles no less than three times with Billy's mother Mrs. Carlton throughout the episode, but they never once see eye-to-eye. Bertha doesn't believe Billy is good enough for Gladys. She still wants her daughter to marry Hector, the Duke. But Gladys has hope.

Stakes got a lot higher in The Gilded Age’s second episode of season three titled “What the Papers Say,” especially with Gladys (Taissa Farmiga). Regardless of the outcome, the tension between George and Bertha is very palpable and that kind of tension doesn’t just disappear.

Episode 2 of The Gilded Age is largely focused on Gladys and her mother’s antics. Last week we saw that George wasn’t around, and now that he’s back with massive plans, he’s struck with a family in commotion. Meanwhile, the Scotts come to visit their daughter, and the question arises: are they making the right choice in leaving her at the Van Rijhn household? On the other hand, the problem of who really runs the house is finally sorted out, but I suppose we already had the answer to that. I watched the first two seasons in one go because I hadn’t seen it before, but seeing an episode at a time makes me realize that, at that moment, it feels like not much is going on. But of course, the season has only just begun, so there’s a long way for us to go.

In an interview with Variety covering the many facets of The Gilded Age season 3's premiere, series creator Julian Fellowes, and co-writer, and executive producer Sonja Warfield, explain their decision to introduce divorce, and why the marriage of Charles and Aurora Fane came to a sudden end. After a year and a half, we're finally back in the past with The Gilded Age season 3 on HBO, and the new season kicked off with a real bang. Power moves and secret romances were the name of the game in the season 3 premiere, as so many of our favorite characters vied for control over not only their social standing but their lives. But a certain someone was simply powerless.

When her husband Charles returns home, Aurora Fane is blindsided by his sudden request for a divorce. He's met and fallen in love with another woman, who he wants to marry. But according to law, Charles can't petition for the divorce. Since he cheated on Aurora, she has to be the one to file the papers. However, she refuses the divorce fearing how it will impact her life moving forward.

HBO's The Gilded Age season 3 just premiered, and Julian Fellowes' addictive period drama is quickly rising up the streaming charts. The Gilded Age returned after a two-year wait, picking up the drama and intrigue of New York high society in the late 19th century. The Gilded Age stars Carrie Coon, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denee Benton, and many more, with Phylicia Rashad and Merritt Wever joining the cast in season 3.

New York’s richest are certainly not done tussling in this fictional show that includes many real-life people who made a mark in history. Both the novelist’s oeuvre and the HBO drama are set among the upper echelons of New York society in the late 19th century, documenting frictions both large (the rise of a new industrial elite) and small (imperceptible breaches of etiquette).

But in its first two seasons, “The Gilded Age” heaped all its stakes onto a handful of storylines, most of them anchored by the series’ few characters of color. Creator Julian Fellowes otherwise eschewed the grand, tragic sweep of Wharton’s best-known work: the downfall of Lily Bart in “House of Mirth,” or the thwarted love of Newland Archer and Countess Olenska in “The Age of Innocence.” Instead, the show’s minimal upheaval tends to amount to a slightly rearranged status quo. Kaiju No. 8 had a blockbuster season 1, after which it was renewed for a sequel. The anime has found its right audience, and everyone is excited to see what happens in Kaiju No. 8 season 2. In the finale of the previous season, Kafka was finally able to find his place in the Third Division without having to hide his identity any longer.

Season 2 will mark a turning point in the series as there will be much less fun and games now. There will be more exploration into the psyche of the main characters, including and not restricted to Kafka, Reno, Kikoru, Iharu, Hoshina, and Gen Narumi.

There are plenty of new characters who will steal the spotlight, and the fights will extend way beyond the Third Division. Some of the divisions will have to come together for an epic battle as Kaiju No. 9 will arrange for the biggest showdown in the upcoming season.

Kaiju No. 8 was one of the most thrilling yet fun anime series in 2024. Written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto, it involves a very likable cast of characters with a great balance between seriousness and humor.

It might use a standard Shonen formula, but it definitely has a few advantages over most of them. Kaiju No. 8 doesn’t involve a lot of fan service, and the women are amongst the strongest characters. It also features gorgeous and fluid animation. All of these traits make it an easy show to watch, with just 12 episodes.

The second season will be out on July 19th, 2025. The trailer was released today, and Production I.G. somehow managed to make the visuals even better. Kaiju No. 8 might be their best work yet.
