One translation of the original Brothers Grimm fairy tale, written in 1812, reads: "Snow-White grew up and became ever more beautiful. When she was seven years old she was as beautiful as the light of day, even more beautiful than the queen herself." This line leads into the famous story of Snow White meeting the seven unique dwarfs and being tricked by the evil queen.
Since there are no other references to her age, we are led to the conclusion that Snow White is only a little girl of seven. Throughout the fairy tale, Snow White is consistently referred to as a child by the other characters: The huntsman who spares her, the curious dwarfs, and the narrator. The story ends with the prince dislodging the wicked queen's apple from Snow White's throat and declaring, "I love you more than anything else in the world. Come with me to my father's castle.

Spoiler Alert: This story contains plot points from the Season 3 finale of The Gilded Age on HBO.
All’s well may have ended well for the newly hitched Gladys in the Season 3 finale of HBO’s The Gilded Age, but the celebration didn’t last long for her mother Bertha.
After throwing a triumphant ball that showcased the now happily married duke and duchess and her newly healed husband who was shot in the previous episode, Bertha would soon learn that George was in no mood to party. The railroad tycoon never got over the idea that his daughter was forced to marry someone she didn’t love, so he walked out on Bertha at episode’s end.
Here, creator Julian Fellowes and executive producer Sonja Warfield explain what drove George to leave his wife and why Bertha’s actions toward Gladys earlier in the season shouldn’t leave 21st century viewers clutching their pearls.

Oscar-winner Bill Condon has finished his long-nurtured film of the Kander-and-Ebb musical Kiss of the Spider Woman, with Jennifer Lopez playing both faded movie goddess Aurora and the lethal Spider Woman who haunts a political prisoner’s imagination. The picture re-interprets the 1993 Tony-winning stage show that itself sprang from Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel.
Filmed at Kearny, New Jersey’s Basin Studios on a reported $30 million budget, the project was financed independently by Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions alongside Artists Equity and Mohari Media. Producers Barry Josephson, Tom Kirdahy and Greg Yolen later struck a distribution pact with Lionsgate, Roadside Attractions and Ld Entertainment that places the U.S. theatrical bow on 10 October 2025, followed by an IMAX-supported rollout.
Condon told festival journalists he leaned into “heightened fantasy” to offset the film’s Argentine prison reality, praising Lopez for supplying “old-Hollywood flamboyance and raw feeling.” The movie premiered at Sundance on 26 January to a prolonged standing ovation.

In Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Death at the Diner, we meet a younger Aurora “Roe” Teagarden at a formative crossroads. She is a graduate student, diligently pursuing a master’s degree, a life of academic inquiry that is neatly compartmentalized from her other job as a waitress at the local RnR Diner.
This tidy division shatters when the diner transforms from a place of mundane work into a stark crime scene. Aurora discovers her boss, Emilio, has been stabbed, his death leaving a stain on the familiar linoleum floors.
The situation becomes intensely personal almost immediately. When the police arrive, their investigation quickly points to one primary suspect: Daniel, the diner’s chef and Aurora’s boyfriend. With the person closest to her facing a murder charge, Aurora’s academic interest in crime becomes a practical necessity. She has one clear path forward: apply her bookish intelligence to the real world...

No, we need to have a chat about the Og Gilded Age couple whose golden marriage is breaking down in front of our eyes: Mr. and Mrs. George Russell.

This post contains spoilers for "Rollerball" and its 2002 remake.
50 years have passed since "Rollerball" was released in theaters in 1975, but this sci-fi cult classic still hits hard. If anything, it only feels more prescient with its near-future setting where corporations rule the world, and where every citizen is considered a customer. This might feel confusing at first, as "Rollerball" is technically a sports movie, where its titular futuristic sport lends the story a certain amount of action-first kineticism. While this is true, Norman Jewison's 1975 classic mounts a flawed social commentary that is scathing in its own way, even though some aspects of the story haven't aged too well and can be deemed exploitative.
The dangerous, corporate-mandated sport of Rollerball is more than just vapid entertainment. It is a tool used to control vastly scattered social classes, disguised as a necessary spectacle that can end conflict and eradicate bigotry at its root.

Disney's pantheon of princesses would hardly be complete without Aurora -- a beautiful young woman afflicted with a tragic curse that can only be broken by true love's kiss. Recently, Japan released a series of official illustrations featuring a bold new depiction of Disney's Sleeping Beauty.
Per PR Times, Japanese publisher Gakken Co. Ltd recently unveiled never-before-seen artwork from the Japanese version of Disney's Twisted Tale book series. The latest volume, titled A Twisted World - Someday In a Dream, Sleeping Beauty, features front cover art of the titular character in a gleaming silver cuirass and wielding a sword. This depiction stands in sharp contrast to the original Sleeping Beauty, which is occasionally criticized for the lack of agency granted to its main heroine. The back cover depicts Maleficent with an unconscious Aurora in her arms. These illustrations were created by "Mizutamaridori," who has served as the main artist for...

Kaiju No. 8 returned to the anime industry with the premiere of its second season on July 19, 2025. After building a solid fanbase with its first season, the series is now focusing on the Kaiju Weapon arc, and the story has received a rather slow start. The first episode was the setup for the upcoming battles and thus couldn’t carry the hype that fans had for the series’ return.
However, there was one main element of the Kaiju No. 8 season 2 that worked perfectly for fans. It was the soundtrack of the anime series that featured the opening and ending themes of the new season. Evidently, it was so upbeat and enticing that it felt like a movie soundtrack from an original Godzilla movie.
The soundtrack of Kaiju No. 8 features some of the biggest names in the music industry, and their talents are truly reflected in the theme songs.

The General Hospital spoilers video for Wednesday, July 16, 2025, tackles a town-wide hatred for Drew and some protective elders.

We knew we could count on Phylicia Rashad to shake things up in her first episode of The Gilded Age, but we definitely didn’t see it playing it out like this.
Sunday’s hour introduces the six-time Emmy nominee (and two-time Tony winner) as Elizabeth Kirkland, the tough-to-please mother of Jordan Donica’s Dr. William Kirkland, whose status with Peggy has now been elevated from flirting to courting. Unfortunately, for a few very surprising reasons, Elizabeth isn’t nearly as excited about this budding romance as we are.

Gypsy-Rose Blanchard is taking the next step in her relationship with Ken Urker following the completion of her parole. “The last six months, [my daughter] Aurora and I have been going back and forth between Ken’s house in New Orleans and my home here with my parents. And so, it’s like we’ve been ping-ponging back and forth,” Blanchard shared on the Monday, June 30, episode of Tori Spelling‘s misSPELLING podcast. “But now this week, I can move in with Ken and we could be a full-time family.” Blanchard explained that while on parole, she was allowed to leave the state, provided she obtained approval from her parole officer two weeks in advance. “Being off of parole, we can go on vacation anywhere, have no restrictions,” she added. “So, next month we are going on vacation and I cannot wait. We’re going to the beach.” Gypsy-Rose was found guilty...

The Gilded Agehas topped the streaming charts all over again.
Per Flix Patrol, The Gilded Age has once again reached the top of the streaming chart for HBO. The series has blown past competition such as the hit comedy drama And Just Like That..., fan-favorite late-night satirical news show Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and the recently released J. J. Abrams crime thriller, Duster.
Created by Julian Fellowes, who co-writes the series alongside Sonja Warfield, The Gilded Age is set during the eponymous era of late 1900s luxury in New York City. The Gilded Age largely follows Louisa Jacobson's Marian Brook, a poor young woman who is forced to live with her estranged aunts and subsequently thrust into the world of "new money" extravagance and "old money" conflicts. The series features a star-studded ensemble cast including Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Harry Richardson, Simon Jones, Cynthia Nixon, Donna Murphy,...

Four fresh faces have joined the cast of dark psychological thriller The Silence Game, from New Life writer/director John Rosman and producer T. Justin Ross.
Santiago Segura, Gabrielle Byndloss, Chris Webster, and Emily Rose have joined Tony Cavalero (“The Righteous Gemstones”), Sarah Yarkin (Texas Chainsaw Massacre), and Nicholas Cirillo (Black Mirror) in the cast of The Silence Game.
It follows a disillusioned young man who, after following a mysterious woman into a camp of outsiders, falls under the influence of a charismatic leader preaching virtue through The Silence Game, an unnerving game with straightforward but terrifying rules.
Rosman writes and directs.
The director’s feature debut, New Life, became a film festival darling in 2023, earning critical acclaim for its fresh take on the thriller genre. The film was acquired by Brainstorm Media and is currently streaming on Hulu. I wrote in my New Life review that “Rosman’s assured debut deftly blends genres,...

This post contains spoilers from The Gilded Age season 3 episode 2 from this point forward.
Following last week's incredible season premiere, The Gilded Age season 3 episode 2 is off to the races as Bertha and Gladys' cold war continues. Gladys run away from home in the middle of the night after a disagreement with her mother over her marital plans. When Gladys is discovered missing, it's instant chaos in the Russell home, but the chaos merely continues once she's found.
Of course, Gladys made a beeline for Billy's home, which isn't pleasing to hear from Bertha. In the aftermath, Bertha tangles no less than three times with Billy's mother Mrs. Carlton throughout the episode, but they never once see eye-to-eye. Bertha doesn't believe Billy is good enough for Gladys. She still wants her daughter to marry Hector, the Duke. But Gladys has hope.

[This story contains spoilers from the second episode of The Gilded Age season three.]
Stakes got a lot higher in The Gilded Age’s second episode of season three titled “What the Papers Say,” especially with Gladys (Taissa Farmiga). Bertha’s (Carrie Coon) intentions regarding matters of her daughter’s heart were far more covert in the first episode. Now there’s no question that Bertha intends for her daughter to become the Duchess of Buckingham. Never mind the fact that Gladys and Hector, the Duke of Buckingham (Ben Lamb) don’t even know each other. For her part, Gladys is confident her dad George (Morgan Spector) will straighten it all out when he returns home. Regardless of the outcome, the tension between George and Bertha is very palpable and that kind of tension doesn’t just disappear.
As Gladys heads toward marriage, preferably one of love, Aurora (Kelli O’Hara) continues to feel the fallout from her husband’s change of heart,...

Episode 2 of The Gilded Age is largely focused on Gladys and her mother’s antics. Last week we saw that George wasn’t around, and now that he’s back with massive plans, he’s struck with a family in commotion. Meanwhile, the Scotts come to visit their daughter, and the question arises: are they making the right choice in leaving her at the Van Rijhn household? On the other hand, the problem of who really runs the house is finally sorted out, but I suppose we already had the answer to that. I watched the first two seasons in one go because I hadn’t seen it before, but seeing an episode at a time makes me realize that, at that moment, it feels like not much is going on. But of course, the season has only just begun, so there’s a long way for us to go.

HBO’s period drama The Gilded Age continues to grow. The series from Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes started its third season with 2.7 million U.S. cross-platform viewers for the June 22 opening episode within its first three days of availability, the network said Wednesday. That is up 27% from the Season 2 opener (2.1 million viewers) and up 30% from the Season 1 debut (2 million viewers).
The Gilded Age, whose cast includes who’s who of the New York theater scene, has come a long way since its inauspicious launch in January 2022 on HBO’s lower profile Monday night. With support by the gay community and strong word of mouth, the drama drew enough audience to earn a second season and has been on an upswing ever since, moving to HBO’s marquee Sunday 9 Pm slot with Season 2 and emerging as a major awards contender.

Almost a decade after its rocky theatrical debut, Passengers — the 2016 sci-fi romance starring Chris Pratt and Jennifer Lawrence — has found new life in the unlikeliest of places: the HBO Max global streaming charts. Despite its icy reception from critics, the film has quietly become a top 10 hit worldwide on the platform, with audiences rediscovering the slick, stylish space drama and giving it a second chance. It’s an ironic twist for a movie that was once branded “Titanic amongst the stars” by a reviewer attempting to summarize its doomed-romance-in-a-crisis formula. And while Passengers never quite hit those box office heights — or narrative depth — it’s clearly struck a chord years later.
Written by Jon Spaihts and directed by Morten Tyldum, Passengers is part slow-burn romance, part existential thriller, and part last-minute action spectacle — a combo that some audiences loved and others found deeply jarring. That genre ambiguity was a major criticism at the time,...

The Gilded Age's creator and executive producer explain the massive twist involving Aurora (Kelli O'Hara) and Charles Fane (Ward Horton) in season 3's premiere. Charles shocked Aurora by announcing he's having an affair, and he wants a divorce. Worse, as the adulterer, Charles needs Aurora to initiate the divorce proceedings, which devastates the niece of Agnes Van Rhijn (Christine Baranski), as it means being ostracized from New York high society.
In an interview with Variety covering the many facets of The Gilded Age season 3's premiere, series creator Julian Fellowes, and co-writer, and executive producer Sonja Warfield, explain their decision to introduce divorce, and why the marriage of Charles and Aurora Fane came to a sudden end. While divorce is commonplace in the modern day, it had even more devastating consequences for married couples in the Gilded Age. Read Fellowes and Warfield's comments below:

It is always exciting when an anime takes risks and breaks out of the set norms to do something new, especially when it comes to the core of what defines an anime. Such anime either climb their way to the top or get buried in infamy. Taking such risks is a huge gamble, especially if the anime is an adaptation that is already popular.

The Gilded Age has finally returned, and boy, am I excited for what’s in store. The new season means new beginnings for all the families on 5th Avenue. New York’s richest are certainly not done tussling in this fictional show that includes many real-life people who made a mark in history. But with that said, we’re interested in all the gossip and the drama, which includes the Russells, the Brooks, and everybody else involved in their lives. Now, I hope I’m speaking too soon, but Peggy being sick right at the start of the 3rd season is bothering me a little bit, because it’s like this woman can’t seem to catch a break at all. Having said that, I really hope it isn’t something serious and that she’ll be back in good health in no time, because she has some great news.

“The Gilded Age” has always been influenced by the work of Edith Wharton. Both the novelist’s oeuvre and the HBO drama are set among the upper echelons of New York society in the late 19th century, documenting frictions both large (the rise of a new industrial elite) and small (imperceptible breaches of etiquette).
But in its first two seasons, “The Gilded Age” heaped all its stakes onto a handful of storylines, most of them anchored by the series’ few characters of color. Creator Julian Fellowes otherwise eschewed the grand, tragic sweep of Wharton’s best-known work: the downfall of Lily Bart in “House of Mirth,” or the thwarted love of Newland Archer and Countess Olenska in “The Age of Innocence.” Instead, the show’s minimal upheaval tends to amount to a slightly rearranged status quo. In Season 2, the blue-blooded Agnes van Rhijn (Christine Baranski) lost her fortune and fell...

Kaiju No. 8 had a blockbuster season 1, after which it was renewed for a sequel. The anime has found its right audience, and everyone is excited to see what happens in Kaiju No. 8 season 2. In the finale of the previous season, Kafka was finally able to find his place in the Third Division without having to hide his identity any longer.
Season 2 will mark a turning point in the series as there will be much less fun and games now. There will be more exploration into the psyche of the main characters, including and not restricted to Kafka, Reno, Kikoru, Iharu, Hoshina, and Gen Narumi.
There are plenty of new characters who will steal the spotlight, and the fights will extend way beyond the Third Division. Some of the divisions will have to come together for an epic battle as Kaiju No. 9 will arrange for the biggest showdown in the upcoming season.

Kaiju No. 8 was one of the most thrilling yet fun anime series in 2024. Written and illustrated by Naoya Matsumoto, it involves a very likable cast of characters with a great balance between seriousness and humor.
It might use a standard Shonen formula, but it definitely has a few advantages over most of them. Kaiju No. 8 doesn’t involve a lot of fan service, and the women are amongst the strongest characters. It also features gorgeous and fluid animation. All of these traits make it an easy show to watch, with just 12 episodes.
The second season will be out on July 19th, 2025. The trailer was released today, and Production I.G. somehow managed to make the visuals even better. Kaiju No. 8 might be their best work yet.

Chile’s Néstor Cantillana has been a triple threat at the Guadalajara Film Fest (Ficg), starring in two pics as well as “Hidden Island,” a series co-penned by international sci fi phenomenon Julio Rojas. Cantillana is also developing his second directorial outing with the short, ‘Humedal.”
“This has been my first time at a festival with two films and a series, all so different—from characters to visual style to the unique voices of young Chilean directors. I’m grateful to be here and to feel the love from the people in Guadalajara,” Cantillana told Variety.
Participating in Ficg’s series showcase where its pilot episode played, sci fi thriller “Hidden Island” (“Isla oculta”), co-written by Rojas, Juan M. Dartizio and Felipe Carmona (“Prison in the Andes”), centers on a detective who returns to her hometown in southern Chile to investigate the disappearance of a Mexican archeologist who was searching for the mythical Friendship Island.

General Hospital spoilers say that when it comes to Drew Quartermaine, no one really knows what’s in his head. While he used to be a very likable character, he’s gone so dark that there’s no turning back for him anymore.
This Is The Reason Drew Has Gone Dark
There’s a theory that one of the big reasons why Drew has gone to the dark side is because of his deep-seated jealousy and hatred of the Quartermaines and Sonny.

It goes without saying that the internet had a lot to say about the matter.
Some critics of the show even wrote comments such as, “The Quartermaine angst only started after they sided with Michael. Tracey might have some jealousy since she once told...
