Biography

As an independent filmmaker, Deep's journey from a software application developer to a director was not easy. After graduating from Calcutta University, Deep worked in an IT company in Kolkata, before moving to Mumbai (Bollywood) to work in the Indian film industry for a few years. Deep got his first break as an independent director when he wrote and directed his own short film Vanish and Stalker. Several festivals have acclaimed both projects. Multiple film festivals around the world have screened Vanish, including the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award and Istanbul Film Festival. Now director Arundip Chowdhury, also known as Deep, has made his first documentary, "The Burnt Soil- A Story about a Forgotten Art and its Future." He is known for highly stylized and energetic work. His main career goal is to direct a feature film for a major production company."
