Now that Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War Part 3 - The Conflict is at its halfway point, the cour understandably needed a quick break from the heavy action so that the story could catch up. This was the main purpose for last week's middling episode, and this extended break continues over in this week's outing. But where last week's episode could be regarded as the closest thing to a filler episode that The Conflict had, "The Holy Newborn" does a bit more than just prepare the final battle's stage even if doesn't show a single fight.

Rivalry has always been an important aspect of character relationships in Bleach. Ichigo Kurosaki's earliest rival is Uryu Ishida. While Uryu introduced himself with competition, the two of them ended up of as staunch allies and friends. In the past, Uryu was one of Ichigo's most reliable friends. However, during the Thousand Year Blood War, Uryu's allegiance changed. He's declared himself loyal to Yhwach and has now fought Ichigo directly.

In Bleach: Thousand Year Blood War the Conflict arc, Episode 4 "The Betrayer", Ichigo and Uryu are pit against each other in more than just battle. Uryu claims he is motivated by the need to avenge his grandfather, whereas Yhwach criticizes Ichigo for not being fueled by revenge. This distinction is going to determine where these characters go in the future of the series, especially because Uryu now realizes Ichigo is also a Quincy.

In a recent interview with Oricon, Hideo Ishikawa, who voices Captain Jushiro Ukitake in Bleach, expressed a long-standing wish he’s had for over two decades, i.e., to say Bankai at least once.

Ukitake was the only captain in the Gotei 13 who has never used his Bankai.

This was revealed when Ishikawa was asked about a line from Bleach that left a significant impression on him.

“Do I dare say it? Ukitake is the only current Gotei 13 captain who hasn’t used his Bankai! I’ve always wanted to say ‘Bankai’ at least once,” he admitted with a laugh.

He added that he has spent years hearing other characters unleash their Bankai, particularly Masakazu Morita, who voices Ichigo Kurosaki. He admitted that this has filled him with envy.

Bleach, one of the most fashionable anime of the 2000s, has received two new pairs of sneakers from Asics in celebration of the former's 20th anniversary, homaging the characters Ichigo Kurosaki and Renji Abarai.

Via Sole Retriever, the popular Bleach anime and Asics are uniting for a new line of sneakers to commemorate the anime's 20th anniversary. Two styles were revealed; Asics' Ichigo-inspired Gt-2160 sneakers come in white with criss-crossing black patterns, plus an orange streak across the sneakers to match his iconic hairstyle. Renji's Gel-NYCs are a bright red with light and dark accents and black crevices, much like the character's forehead tattoos.
