The Internet Reacts To Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who Debut
It’s been one hell of a long wait, but Doctor Who is back and, judging by the season premiere, “The Woman Who Fell to Earth,” it’s in fine form.

I got together with a bunch of friends at my apartment to watch it and everyone loved the episode – even people not that familiar with the series. Jodie Whittaker was convincing as the Doctor from minute one, new showrunner Chris Chibnall has slightly remixed the look and pace of the show, and I absolutely loved Segun Akinola’s new score. Sure, the monster-of-the-week was slightly bland, but I guess that just helps keep the focus on the still-regenerating Doctor.

It’s not just my friends and I who dug it, though, as it’s looking like fans across the world thought it lived up to the high expectations. I’ve been rooting through Twitter all afternoon and here’s...

Why you should be watching Mr Biffo’s Found Footage
Jake Laverde Nov 6, 2017

Fans of Digitiser? Here's why Mr Biffo's Found Footage might just be the web series you were looking for...

Memory is a funny thing. Rather than the fixed viewpoint we expect it to be, memories are malleable objects. Their shapes changed over time, exact details fading away replaced with approximations. But what we remember with sharp clarity is how we felt. TV shows, films music and books can fuel our nostalgia and bring us back to cosier simple times.

It’s the cracks between memories that Mr Biffo’s/Paul Rose Found Footage resides in; a web sketch show that mixes in genuine VHS footage with surreal sketches that play with memory and nostalgia. Riffing on high concept 80s detective shows, cartoon spin offs and songs dedicated to early microcomputer pioneers Steve Wozniak and Sir Clive Sinclair all rendered in gloriously glitchy VHS effect. Further selling the...

U2 Slapped With $5 Million Copyright Lawsuit Over ‘Achtung Baby’ Track
U2 is probably wishing that songwriter Paul Rose would just buzz off right about now. Bono, the Edge and their bandmates have been hit with a lawsuit by Rose, who alleges that the track “The Fly” from the group’s album “Achtung Baby” is a ripoff of one of his tunes. In the suit, filed Monday in federal court in New York, Rose — described as “an internationally renowned writer, composer, guitarist and recording artist with 12 solo albums” — sent a demo including his tune “Nae Slappin” to Island Records in 1989, the same year that Island signed U2. According to...

U2 Sued by Songwriter, Claims They Stole 'The Fly' (Audio)
U2's "The Fly" is a total rip-off from a British songwriter ... according to the songwriter who's finally getting around to suing them for the 1991 hit. Paul Rose -- a writer and guitarist with 12 solo albums of his own -- says Bono, Edge and the boys straight-up jacked the music for "The Fly" from his 1989 song "Nae Slappin." In the docs, Rose says he recorded a demo and gave it to Island Records, which circulated...

Top Shot Season Three Preview Plus iPhone Case Giveaway
The third season of Top Shot is kicking off tomorrow, and I hope you're going to be tuning in. I have a rundown of the new contestants for you, and a special giveaway of a Top Shot branded iPhone case so you can show off your support of the show.

The contestants look like a good crop this season, even though this is a show that seems to have the opposite problem of most reality competition shows, at least from my perspective. As these series continue with further seasons, it seems to me that the contestants have continually increasing levels of competence, and that doesn't generally work for me. I don't really want to watch the cooking, design, or fashion show that is built around contestants who are already firmly entrenched in the field.

Top Shot doesn't really have any option though, even though there are contestants who are "amateurs,...

All bow to Cthulhu's best known prophet so far: The Life And Times Of Paul The Psychic Octopus
Be afraid. Be very afraid. Or not, actually! Cinema Vertige's Alexandre O. Philippe and Robert Muratore recently made the funny and insightful documentary "The People vs. George Lucas" and have now announced their next project. Well, more than announced actually, they even have a trailer for it. It's another documentary, and their subject this time is Paul, the German octopus in the Sea Life Center in Oberhausen who for years predicted the outcomes of soccer matches with a near-infallible success rate. Paul rose to fame during the European Championship of 2008 (even though he had the final wrong), but turned absolutely nuclear during the World Championship of 2010. Octopi don't get very old so he died last October, but in his last summer he...

Stefan Porwoll -- the manager at the Oberhausen Sea Life Center, where Paul lived -- said Paul "appears to have passed away peacefully during the night, of natural causes." Paul rose to international fame this summer when he correctly predicted all seven of...
