A post shared by The Lord of the Rings on Prime (@theringsofpower)

The new season is set years after the events of Season 2 and takes place during the intense war between the Elves and the Dark Lord Sauron.

This is when Sauron is crafting the One Ring, the key to gaining ultimate control over Middle-earth. The series is inspired by the appendices of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings and dives deep into the Second Age, a time long before Frodo, Aragorn, or the Fellowship.

‘Lotr: The Rings Of Power’ Adds Trio To Cast As Season 3 Starts Production
Image
Andrew Richardson (Ponies) has been cast as a series regular and Zubin Varla (Andor) and Adam Young (Masters of the Air) as recurring in the upcoming third season of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which recently began filming at the Amazon MGM Studios series’ new U.K. production home, Shepperton Studios.

British actors Richardson, Varla and Young — who all have extensive theater background — join previously announced new Season 3 cast additions, Stranger Things‘ Jamie Campbell Bower, who will be a series regular, and Eddie Marsan, who will recur.

As usual, no information on the characters is provided. There had been speculative casting information about a new Season 3 series regular role of a sea captain in his 20s that could be who Richardson will portray.

Varla is not an entirely new cast addition to The Rings of Power — he provided voice work on three episodes...

Will The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants Musical Ever Happen? Original Movie Director Responds 7 Years After Initial Announcement
Image
A Sisterhood of the Traveling Pantsmusical was announced nearly a decade ago, and the original movie's director has weighed in on the long-awaited project. Based on the eponymous novel by Ann Brashares, the 2005 movie follows a group of friends who are growing up and growing apart as they begin their adult lives. However, they're all linked together by a mysterious pair of pants that manage to fit them all despite their disparate sizes. A quintessential coming-of-age film from the 2000s, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants was followed by a sequel a few years later.

A third film began development in 2018, and a Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants musical was also announced the same year. Now, nearly a decade later, original film director Ken Kwapis has spoken candidly about the aforementioned musical in an exclusive interview with ScreenRant. When asked if the project was still happening, Kwapis confessed his ignorance about the project.

The Bondsman TV Review: Kevin Bacon hunts demons in this fun horror series
Image
Plot: Murdered bounty hunter Hub Halloran is resurrected by the Devil to trap and send back demons that have escaped from the prison of Hell. By chasing down those demons with the help and hindrance of his estranged family, Hub learns how his own sins got his soul condemned — which pushes him to seek a second chance at life, love, and country music.

Review: There have been a lot of series over the years that have tried to combine horror and comedy. When you throw in the idea of a protagonist being enlisted to hunt down demons and send them back to Hell, you can count the 1998 Fox series Brimstone and the 2007 CW show Reaper amongst similar concepts. Even Ash vs. Evil Dead had a good balance of the genres, though it did lean more towards comedy, unlike the grim Brimstone. Striking the right amount of levity and chills can...

‘It’s an Unusual Pairing’: Wheel of Time Cast Preview Season 3 Changes
Image
Prime Video's The Wheel of Timehas successfully expanded the world of Robert Jordan's books by making the TV versions of the characters so memorable. At the core of this book to screen adaptation is Rand al'Thor, played by Josha Stradowski, who is destined to either save the world or destroy it as the Dragon Reborn. Accompanying him and guiding him is Moraine Damodred, portrayed by Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike.

With The Wheel of Time Season 3 on the horizon, Cbr spoke to Pike and Stradowski about their characters. The actors reflected on where Season 2 left Moiraine and Rand, and where the new episodes will take them. How much have things changed for these two key protagonists between seasons?

Cbr: In The Wheel of Time Season 2, Moiraine had a very difficult journey that involved getting her powers back and helping to usher in the Dragon Reborn. Rosamund, what does her...

Everything We Already Know About The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Season 3
Image
"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is returning for a third season. When will it be back? As of this writing, we don't know yet. However, there are a lot of things we do already know about the next installment in Prime Video's planned five-season romp through Second Age Middle-earth. As a quick recap, let's remember where season 2 left off (broad strokes version).

Season 2 ended with turmoil breaking out on the island nation of Númenor as Ar-Pharazôn moved from a political coup toward an outright forced takeover. On the mainland, Sauron destroyed the Elven city of Eregion, killed Celebrimbor and Adar, captured the newly minted Nine Rings, and assumed command of his new Orc legions. The Elves gathered in what is likely the future location of Rivendell and planned their comeback, while the Dwarves reeled after losing their king to an angry balrog. Meanwhile, in the far eastern region of Rhûn,...

'How Do We Pull This Off?': Wheel of Time Producer Reveals Season 3 Plans
Image
Prime Video's The Wheel of Timehas taken on the monumental task of adapting Robert Jordan's massive 14-book series. Leading this charge is showrunner Rafe Judkins, who is both a passionate fan and a talented storyteller. And one of the reasons both the books and the TV show are successful is the presence of compelling villains -- especially Lanfear, played by Natasha O'Keeffe.

Cbr was able to sit down with both O'Keeffe and Judkins to discuss the continued handling of fan expectations in The Wheel of Time Season 3. They also discussed some of the biggest challenges this season. Plus, what will Lanfear do next?

Cbr: Natasha, Lanfear made an unforgettable impression in The Wheel of Time Season 2. How do you carry that momentum into Season 3 and continue to make her so interesting?

O'Keeffe: Well, it's there in the writing. Season 3 allows me to delve further into Lanfear and hopefully the...

If You Thought Tolkien’s Og Script Showing the One Ring as a Birthday Gift Was Crazy, Wait Till You Hear His Original Scrapped Name for Gandalf

J.R.R. Tolkien was a genius, no doubt. But even geniuses have their what were you thinking? moments. Case in point: he once considered making The Lord of the Rings‘ most dangerous artifact a casual birthday present. Yeah, imagine Sauron’s all-powerful Ring of Doom getting wrapped up with a bow.

The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power officially renewed for season 3!
Image
It's official: Prime Video has renewed The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power for a third season. We'll be returning to Middle-earth to see what's next for Galadriel, Sauron, the Nûmenoreans, and all the rest.

While the streamer had laid out a five-season plan for the series right from the start, they've been strangely cagey about announcing an official renewal for season 3, leading many fans to speculate about whether the show was in trouble. Fortunately, The Rings of Power will indeed return for another season, so those concerns can now be laid to rest.

"The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power continues to captivate audiences worldwide, and we're thrilled that a third season is underway. The creative team has an extraordinary vision of what’s to come with stories that have left us enchanted and enthralled,” said Vernon Sanders, head of television at Amazon MGM Studios,...

The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Renewed For Season 3; Story Will Jump Ahead By "Several Years"
Image
It's been confirmed that The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will return for season 3 on Amazon's Prime Video. While the news doesn't come as a surprise, it arrives several months after season 2 concluded.

The season 2 finale wrapped up with various cliffhangers, including the Elves resolving to stand against Sauron's army as it marched across Middle-earth (helping matters was the fact the Elves and Dwarfs had crafted their own powerful Rings capable of levelling the playing field).

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that we're getting a major time jump when The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power returns and the trade has shared the first story details in an official logline:

"Jumping forward several years from the events of season 2, season 3 takes place at the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, as the Dark Lord seeks to craft the One Ring that will...

‘The Rings of Power’ Officially Renewed for Season 3, Plot Details Revealed
Image
The third season of The Rings of Power is well on its way, with production set to begin this spring at Shepperton Studios in the UK. Fans have been waiting eagerly since the season two finale aired last October, and now we know some exciting details about what’s coming.

The biggest reveal is a major time jump. The show will fast-forward several years from the events of season two. Sauron, now preparing to craft the powerful One Ring, will be at the center of the story. The new season will follow the height of the War of the Elves and Sauron, where the Dark Lord plans to use the Ring to secure his victory over Middle-earth.

This war takes place during the Second Age of Tolkien’s world, before the events seen in The Lord of the Rings. It’s an earlier battle against Sauron, known as the War of the Elves,...

The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Season 3 Confirmed With Major Time Jump
Image
The long, unexpected journey of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power" is set to receive another chapter. The streaming series first debuted in 2022 to somewhat divisive reactions. However, for my money, "The Rings of Power" Season 2 used a darker, bolder, and more complex story to show us what the series was truly capable of. The show's strong viewership numbers and consistent quality has finally led to what was all but inevitable: an official renewal for Season 3. And it comes with a fascinating wrinkle, too.

The Hollywood Reporter dropped the news, with Prime Video confirming that "The Rings of Power" Season 3 will begin filming in just a few months in the UK. But that's not even the biggest development for fans of author J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy adventures set in Middle-earth. The report also reveals that, after the first two seasons basically compressed centuries of source material into...

'The Wheel of Time' Season 3 Trailer Reveals New Places, and More Magic
Image
Thank the Light! The first trailer for Prime Video's The Wheel of Time Season 3 has just been released, and it's a doozy. Set to premiere on Mar. 13, the third entry in the series adapted from the books by Robert Jordan takes us to all new places, and introduces us to new characters like Elaidado Avriny a'Roihan, portrayed by Shohreh Aghdashloo.

Mostly adapting the fourth book in Jordan's series, The Shadow Rising, the trailer for The Wheel of Time Season 3 that was released online today (seen below) showcases what we can expect in March. Rosamund Pike's Moiraine Damodred and Josha Stradowski's Rand al'Thor are front and center as they head to the Aiel Waste, and there's no shortage of action and magic, of course. In addition to Elaidado Avriny a'Roihan, new characters also introduced this season include Faile (Isabella Bucceri), Bair (Nukâka Coster-Waldau), Melaine (Salóme Gunnarsdóttir), Rhuarc (Björn Landberg), and Melindhra (Synnøve Macody Lund.

The following contains spoilers for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 Episode 8, "Shadow and Flame," now streaming on Prime Video.

For as long as I can remember, I have been an avid fan of The Lord of the Rings, both J. R. R. Tolkien's novel and Peter Jackson's trilogy of film adaptations. Like many, I had reservations about Prime Video's The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power due to its deviations from the lore of the source material and the lack of Jackson's involvement, and negative reviews from other fans certainly did not make me any more optimistic. But I wanted to give the series a shot so that I could have an informed opinion,...

Quick Links Rings of Power Has Durin III Wanting More Mithril Rings of Power Gives Durin IV & Disa a Dire Mission

The following contains spoilers for The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2, Episode 6, "Where is He?", which debuted Sept. 19 on Prime Video.

One of the biggest draws of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 is the Game of Thrones vibe. Nmenor, for example, has seen Ar-Pharazn take the crown from his cousin, Tar-Mriel, after seeding out political discord. Interestingly, the Dwarven realm of Khazad-dm has its fair share of turmoil, too.

This is due to the king, Durin III, becoming corrupt and obsessed with power after Sauron and Celebrimbor offered him seven rings. It created a difference in philosophy with his son, Durin IV, and the latter's wife, Disa. They're trying to be heroes and save the king's soul before he instructs...

When The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 confirmed that Sauron would be in his Annatar form, fans were intrigued about how he would fool the people of Eregion. He plays on Celebrimbor's arrogance and helps him forge more rings of power. It's a job Sauron does pretty easily.

Even despite Celebrimbor being concerned about Annatar's powers, he goes about the mission as a project of art and culture. It left viewers curious how exactly Sauron would take his enemies out. 10 TV Characters Killed Offscreen Because The Actor Left The Show
Image
Warning: This article discusses topics of racism, homophobia, suicide, and sexual assault.

Over the years, several TV show actors left their respective roles, but their characters deaths ended up occurring offscreen. The demise of a beloved figure wasnt always met with a good reception from audiences, but the most heroic TV character deaths instead made up for their departure. When a character died but wasnt shown on-screen, it was often jarring. However, it was even weirder when it was already known that an actor was leaving, but they didnt get the opportunity to film their characters exit.

Even the best TV shows of all time sometimes had to say goodbye to a character without a proper send-off. Some of these instances were out of production's control and were the result of external reasons, such as legal snafus or budget cuts, whereas others were because an actor actively chose to step...

The Rings Of Power Season 2 Rotten Tomatoes Score Is In - Does It Improve From The Divided Season 1
Image
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power season 2's Rotten Tomatoes score has arrived after a divisive season 1. Created by Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne and based on the writings of J.R.R. Tolkien, the Prime Video Lord of the Rings show premiered in 2022. After season 1 split critics and audiences as it chronicled the rise of evil in Middle-earth during the Second Age of Middle-earth, there's evidently a lot riding on The Rings of Power season 2 to right the ship.

Rotten Tomatoes now reveals that The Rings of Power season 2 has debuted on the site to an 82% with 34 reviews. Though this score is sure to change as more reviews are added, the sophomore outing currently ranks just behind season 1, which has an 83% score. As seen in the chart below, season 1 struggled when it came to the audience score, and the first audience ratings for season 2 should arrive following the premiere.
