‘Asteroid-a-Geddon’ DVD Review
Image
Stars: Eric Roberts, Veronika Issa, Terry Woodberry, Jennifer Lee Wiggins, Craig Gellis, Isaac J. Cruz, Gigi Gustin, D’Artagnan Woods, Rick Williamson, Regina McKee Redwing, Zachary Chicos, Juliana Destefano, Shawn C. Phillips | Written and Directed by Geoff Meed

[Note: With the film out now on DVD in the UK, here’s a reposting of our review of Asteroid-a-Geddon from its US streaming debut last year]

A global scientific summit debates and fails on a plan to stop a massive asteroid heading straight for Earth, with all countries blaming each other for the impeding disaster. With communications tense, the daughter of a tech billionaire assembles her own team of specialists to try to destroy the asteroid before it is too late.

The Asylum are back with yet another disaster movie, Asteroid-a-Geddon, only this one has a surprisingly on-point political undertone to it’s over-the-top end of the earth plot! You see we get military leaders who’d rather play politics than actually do anything about the oncoming disaster. They argue with...

‘Legend of the Muse’ Review
Image
Stars: Riley Egan, Elle Evans, Kate Mansi, Lou Ferrigno Jr., Max Decker, Jennie Fahn, Phil Abrams, Anthony Ray Parker, Mike Rad, Dave Vescio, Craig Gellis, Declan Joyce, Grant Walstrom, Jeanné Kietzmann | Written and Directed by John Burr

Painting and horror movies do occasionally meet and create something great. Recently Velvet Buzzsaw and Bliss have both been well received while covering the art world and blending it with some weird and twisted horror. Legend of the Muse tries to lead down a similar path.

We meet a painter, Adam (Riley Egan) who suddenly gets inspiration when he meets a ‘mythical and deadly spirit from Celtic lore who becomes his muse and lover’. His artwork starts to get noticed but the spirit brings along a whole host of other problems. Mainly that she murders people and leaves Adam to clear up the mess.

It’s a slowly paced movie that is occasionally...

Evan Goldberg at an event for The Green Hornet (2011)
Exclusive: Director Evan Goldberg Talks This Is the End
Evan Goldberg at an event for The Green Hornet (2011)
Evan Goldberg Talks This is the End, available now on Blu-ray and DVD

Was This Is the End the funniest movie of the summer? Definitely. Will it end up being the funniest movie of the year? It will be a close race, that's for sure. What sounded like a vanity project for some of this generation's biggest and brightest stars actually proves to be one of the most inventive, scary, and downright hysterical comedies of all time. Its this millennium's Ghostbusters, and it finds Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson and James Franco all living in a house together, trying to survive the apocalypse.

The film marks the directorial debut of writing partners Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, who brought us the now classic Superbad and its equally iconic follow-up Pineapple Express. We recently caught up with Evan to talk about the evolution of the film,...

Episode Recap: Castle - 3.01: "A Deadly Affair"
When last we saw our duo of most excellent unresolved sexual tension, Castle (Nathan Fillion) was high-tailing it to the Hamptons for the summer to work on his book, and lick his wounds from having to watch Demming and Beckett (Stana Katic) make goo-goo eyes at each other for the past few months. That left Beckett back at the squad room, still not knowing what or who she wants -- having just dumped Demming -- and probably lead to a vicious workout with a punching bag followed by large amounts of wine. But, I guess life moved on at the station, cases got solved, and grudges were upheld. When we see Castle, he's running through a warehouse full of mirrors, gun in hand, and not once does he get a chance to stop and admire his "ruggedly handsome" visage. That's because someone is unloading a clip of bullets at him,...
