Every Failed Smallville Spinoff (& Why They Were Canceled)
Image
In the 2010s, the success of Arrow resulted in a Flash spinoff series and eventually the entire Arrowverse. Despite being its spiritual successor, Smallvillenever went down this path. However, it wasn't for a lack of trying, and as recently as two years ago, there was still interest in reviving the beloved Superman series.

Smallville was a smash hit that lasted 10 seasons, but none of its potential spinoffs even got a single season. Only one of the conceptualized spinoffs even had a pilot produced, even after the CW drama went out of its way to include multiple backdoor pilots. Every proposed spinoff would have starred at least one iconic DC hero, and with fans having only recently learned about some of them, it's possible there are still pitches that haven't been unveiled.

Aquaman Had a Full Pilot Produced

Arthur "AC" Curry, Aka Aquaman, made his debut on Smallville in Season 5, Episode 4, "Aqua.

Miss USA 2019: And the Winner is...
Fifty-one queens became one during Fox's telecast of the 2019 Miss USA.

Nick and Vanessa Lachey returned to host the big event, which was held in Reno Tahoe’s Grand Sierra Resort and Casino’s Grand Theatre.

The group of people judging the queens were Nicole Feld; businesswoman Kim Kaupe (of The Superfan Company); Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters (Miss Universe 2017); marketing executive Ukonwa Ojo; journalist Amy Palmer; Denise Quiñones (Miss Universe 2001); Hillary Schieve, the mayor of Reno; and Patricia Smith (Miss Virginia USA 1994).

2018 winner, Sarah Rose Summers was also featured on the show to hand her crown to the 2019 winner.

If anything, the telecast wanted to prove just how difficult it was to get the judges on board.

The group of women went through a rigorous amount of questioning and different looks. It wasn't a competition for the faint hearted.

But who went on to win the coveted crown?...

Miss USA 2019: And the Winner Is...
Game of Thrones (2011)
Fifty-one worthy queens vied for a single crown on Thursday, making the 2019 Miss USA pageant a little like Game of Thrones‘ Battle of Winterfell — only with less dragons. That we know of.

Nick and Vanessa Lachey returned to host this year’s festivities, which went down in Reno Tahoe’s Grand Sierra Resort and Casino’s Grand Theatre. (New game: Take a shot every time you see the word “grand”!) Though Nick Lachey’s pageant history is limited to hosting, Vanessa Lachey is actually a former Miss Teen USA (1998).

Judging this year’s crop of queens were businesswoman Nicole Feld (of Feld Entertainment,...

Aquaman: 25 Wild Details About The Canceled TV Show
Aquaman just swam into theaters in his first solo movie, but over a decade ago, he could have been the main character in his own television series. In 2006, the DC comic book character was the potential face of a series for the now-defunct WB network. Writing and producing partners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar had several films under their belts when they brought Smallville to the WB in 2001. Right in the middle of the successful Superman prequel series, they began working on a concept for another superhero series, where the duo wanted to bring Aquaman to the small screen.

Justin Hartley landed the role of Arthur “A.C.” Curry, with Lou Diamond Phillips, Ving Rhames, Denise Quiñones, and Amber McDonald rounding out the main cast. Set in the fictional Florida locale of Tempest Key, the story would modernize classic Aquaman lore. The project never made it beyond the pilot presentation,...
