Biography

Charlie Hodges, who is a mix of Daniel Stern and Glenn Morshower, comes to acting late in life. His life experience included working in the news and communications business for over 40 years. His Radio, TV, and Newspapers career led him to work in Texas, Minnesota, and Virginia, where he honored with many Excellence in Journalism awards. The last 18 years of his reporting career were at KRLD NewsRadio in Dallas and the Texas State Radio Network as a reporter, anchor, producer and talk show host. He regularly provided stories to the CBS Radio Network in New York. His reporting work allowed him to meet several leaders and celebrities, from George W. Bush to Robin Williams. Some of the stories he broke were getting information on a strike at American Airlines that resulted in the company's stock crashing to one penny in value, covering the first anniversary of the 9/11 attacks from Ground Zero in New York, and breaking the news that officials could not expand an investigation into the death of former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia because on a Sunday morning in El Paso, an assistant at a funeral home performed an autopsy on Scalia that eliminated the opportunity for an autopsy. Reporting is a profession that, when working in the field, gives insights into all kinds of life experiences, from the loss of death and the violence in the world many don't see firsthand and seeing the goodness in people few rarely experience. It's a life that can be an emotional roller coaster. In a way, it's like being a first responder where you have a hard heart, but to keep from having that take such a toll, you must find ways to laugh. Some of those ways are jaded. I have also been a sports reporter and once served as a play-by-play announcer for a minor league hockey team. I use that background to develop characters that are authority figures and compassionate father figures. During a stretch where I stepped away from reporting to regain my sanity, I worked for a Memphis in May Barbecue chef. I learned well.
