Biography

Orlando Giraldo is an award-winning Colombian-Canadian film and TV director, producer, and screenwriter based in Toronto. He is known for his signature filmmaking style, influenced by cinematic masters such as Akira Kurosawa, Stanley Kubrick, and Alfred Hitchcock, among others.

From a young age, he was captivated by the art of moving images. At age 13, he taught himself how to operate a video camera and began making family films. However, he never considered filmmaking as a career path at the time.

Later in life, he rediscovered his passion for film, starting out as a background performer, actor, and film crew member. He then began making short films with fellow filmmakers until he decided to direct his first short film, the award-winning Clash.

Now, in 2025, he is working on The Japan Trilogy and the web series Sueña.
