- His favorite stage of filmmaking is writing. He only directs, produces and acts in order to secure to films releases.

- In the summer of 2020 he shot Small Town Breakdown on the exact same dates that Saskatchewan Filmmaker Aaron Sinclair shot The Wild. Small Town Breakdown had a budget of $5000 and The Wild had a budget of $100, 000. Saskatchewan has a small pool of talent and Small Town Breakdown lost many cast and crew to the more well-funded production.

- During High School and much of his 20s dustan was a "steadfast Evangelical" often not letting people pass him on the street without being preached to. He now considers himself Post-Evangelical and rejects Evangelicalism and most facets of organized religion.

- He was named after Dustin Hoffman and his uncle Stan.
- Conceived Small Town Bringdown when hearing a rant from his dad about an upcoming "second Depression".
- His favourite film is It's A Wonderful Life. He watched it once a year to recenter himself.
- A fan of Greta Gerwig. He took her throw-away line in an Oscars montage seriously. She said "Make films. I want to see your film." He hopes to one day, show her something he's made.
