Below is an overview of the major theories explored, and the latest developments in the ongoing search for Amy, with input from directors and executive producers Phil Lott and Ari Mark.

Amy Bradley Is Missing: Netflix’s New True Crime Docuseries Released
Image
On March 21, 1998, Amy Lynn Bradley set off with her family for the Caribbean island of Curaçao aboard the cruise ship Rhapsody of the Seas. Amy, a 23-year-old recent college graduate, was accompanied by her parents, Ron and Iva Bradley, and her younger brother, Brad. Two nights later, after spending the evening dancing at the ship’s nightclub, Amy was last seen resting in the balcony of her cabin. By the time her father went to check on her early the next morning, she had vanished, leaving no trace but a polo shirt and a pair of sandals. Her disappearance was reported to the ship’s crew, and despite an FBI investigation and her family’s exhaustive efforts, Amy has never been found.

The three-part documentary series Amy Bradley Is Missing, directed and executive produced by Ari Mark and Phil Lott,...

Amy Bradley Is Missing Review: A Tragedy Turned Into Streaming Content
Image
The streaming behemoth’s content algorithm has once again resurrected a ghost from the 1990s, packaging a decades-old tragedy into a binge-able, three-part docuseries. Amy Bradley Is Missing plunges viewers into the 1998 disappearance of a 23-year-old woman from a Royal Caribbean cruise ship, a case that has remained stubbornly unsolved.

The series opens on what should have been an idyllic family vacation, with home video footage painting a picture of sun-drenched decks and familial ease. This picture shatters when Amy vanishes from her family’s stateroom somewhere between Aruba and Curaçao.

Directors Ari Mark and Phil Lott use this disquieting event to launch an inquiry not only into a specific crime but into the very nature of jurisdiction, memory, and corporate responsibility on the open sea.

Through the raw, persistent grief of her parents, Ron and Iva, and her brother, Brad, the series finds its emotional engine. Yet the central...

‘Amy Bradley Is Missing,’ But the Netflix Docuseries Filmmakers Think They Know Where She Is
Image
If you’re planning a nice family cruise vacation this summer, don’t watch Amy Bradley Is Missing on Netflix until after you’ve safely disembarked in your home port.

In 1998, 23-year-old Amy Bradley vanished from the cruise ship she and her family were vacationing on. A full search of the ship revealed nothing, leading officials to believe Bradley likely either jumped or fell overboard on the way to Curaçao. But a body is never found, and over the span of decades, multiple people report seeing Bradley alive on the Dutch Caribbean island (as well as an alleged sighting in Aruba). Evidence that Bradley may have instead been trafficked off of the boat — and potentially through the help of one of the ship’s entertainment staff — only gets weirder from there.

I had a lot of questions, and filmmakers Ari Mark and Phil Lott of Ample Entertainment had to sit through all of them.

Diddy Sues Peacock, NBCUniversal for Defamation Over 'Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy' Documentary
Image
It didn't take long for the entertainment industry to cash in on the sex-trafficking and assault allegations leveled against Sean 'Diddy' Combs. Once those allegations surfaced, multiple networks set about scheduling interviews and developing documentaries about the rapper-turned-mogul's alleged criminal enterprise. Peacock's Diddy: The Making of a Bad Boy took the allegations even further, with insinuations that connected him to several infamous deaths. However, Peacock may be forced to pay a hefty price for its deep dive, if attorneys representing Combs have their way.

According to Variety, the lawsuit was filed by Combs against the streamer, parent company NBCUniversal, and production company Ample Entertainment. Combs is seeking $100 million in damages resulting from the documentary "falsely, recklessly, and maliciously" assassinating his character by tying him to sex-trafficking and the criminal deaths of Combs' former girlfriend, Kim Porter, and the Notorious B.I.G., among others. Combs' attorney issued the following statement...

Why This Is the Zodiac Speaking is the Perfect Companion Piece to Fans of David Fincher's Zodiac
Image
Ever since the advent of streaming services, the home media market has found itself inundated with an endless supply of documentaries, many of which, if we're being brutally honest, aren't all that good. It's hard to blame anyone for that; after all, it's clear as day that the public has an endless desire for true crime content, and they're willing to consume anything to scratch that itch. The good news is that Netflix's This Is the Zodiac Speaking bucks that trend by actually being informative and well-made. The even better news is that, for fans of David Fincher's Zodiac, it's a must-watch.

This three-episode docuseries, directed by Ari Mark and Phil Lott, examines precisely what you think it does: the 1960s murders committed by a serial killer who dubbed himself "the Zodiac." Zodiac smartly focuses its efforts on one man: Arthur Leigh Allen, the very same individual that...

Zodiac Killer’s Real Identity: Netflix Documentary Sheds Light on Never Seen Before Evidence Against Arthur Leigh Allen
Image
For the last 50 decades, the identity of the Zodiac Killer has remained one of the most puzzling cold cases in American true-crime culture. For those who are unaware of the cold killer, the Zodiac Killer is an unidentified serial murderer who terrorized Northern California. He is infamous for his cryptic letters, taunting authorities with symbols, ciphers, and claims of several unsolved murders. The Zodiac Killer also claimed to have killed 37 people, but only five murders and two attempted murders have been linked to him. Despite extensive investigations, the Zodiac Killer’s identity remains a mystery, except, for Arthur Leigh Allen, a former elementary school teacher and convicted sex offender,...

Netflix's Zodiac Doc Claims To Have New Clues to Killer's Identity
Image
One of life's greatest mysteries is the identity of the Zodiac Killer. The famous serious killer was active between 1968 and 1969, and all these decades later the identity of the assailant has never been known. There have been plenty of theories as to who it is, and the upcoming Netflix documentary This is the Zodiac Speaking sheds additional light on who it could be. The three-part series says it has new information about the case, the second show in as many years covering the Zodiac's potential identity.

The series, co-directed by Ari Mark and Phil Lott, has new interviews and clues that hone in on Arthur Leigh Allen as the killer's identity. To date, he has been the only person ever named a suspect in the case. He was portrayed in David Fincher's 2007 film Zodiac by John Carroll Lynch, and the Netflix series creators say that movie helped them complete the puzzle.

Image
“Mystery Science Theater 3000” is returning for a 13th season, this time on a new indie streaming platform, Gizmoplex.

Created by Joel Hodgson in 1988, the cult show “MST3K” follows a series of ordinary humans captured by mad scientists who subject them to a series of terrible B-movies. To keep their sanity, the humans create a series of companion robots to riff on the films they watch, which are presented on the show in their entirety. “MST3K” has gone through several iterations, initially airing on Ktma-tv Minneapolis, then on Comedy Central and the Sci-Fi channel, for a total of 10 seasons. It was revived for a two season run on Netflix in 2017. The show has been highly acclaimed since its creation, winning a Peabody in 1993, and has helped turn seberal obscure movies into cult classics, such as “Manos: The Hands of Fate.”

The new revival of “MST3K” will air completely independently, following two successful Kickstarter campaigns,...
