Rumor: Lucasfilm Planning A Mandoverse-Style Slate Of Star Wars Movie Set Post-the Rise Of Skywalker
Image
At Star Wars Celebration in 2023, Lucasfilm revealed its plans for a new Star Wars movie revolving around Daisy Ridley's Rey Skywalker. Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is still attached to direct the movie, which has been through multiple writers since it was first announced.

Now, with The Adjustment Bureau and The Bourne Ultimatum's George Nolfi hard at work on the latest draft, scooper Daniel Richtman (via SFFGazette.com) has shared some new insights into Lucasfilm's post-The Rise of Skywalker plans.

He explains that it will be similar to the "Mandoverse," with multiple stories told in that period. The first of those is expected to be Daily Ridley's New Jedi Order, an indication that Star Wars: Starfighter may not be part of this slate.

That's been widely reported to take place 5 years after Episode IX, with the Rey-led movie set 15 years later. There may be some loose threads between them, but...

Daisy Ridley's 'Star Wars' Rey Movie Reportedly Put "On Hold" by Lucasfilm
Image
The Daisy Ridley-led Star Wars film is reportedly facing another major hurdle during development as Lucasfilm begins to focus on other upcoming feature-length projects. The next chapter in Rey Skywalker's storyline is currently set to be directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel), but it appears that Star Wars fans will have to wait even longer to hear good news about the film.

According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Lucasfilm has put the long-gestating Rey Star Wars film on hold. Rumored to be titled New Jedi Order, the project has seen a rotating crew of writers, with the latest being George Nolfi. However, it seems other Star Wars films are taking precedent at the studio, including Shawn Levy's Starfighter and James Mangold's Dawn of the Jedi. Richtman states that the Rey movie is "not canceled," but it is now on the backburner for the foreseeable future. Of course,...

Star Wars Icon’s John Wick Style Action Thriller Tops Streaming Charts in America
Image
Daisy Ridley will always be known for her role as Rey Skywalker in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, but earlier this year, she starred in an action thriller likened to John Wick upon its release, which has been a sensation on streaming. Ridley stars alongside Taz Skylar and Ruth Gemmell in Cleaner, the action vehicle following an ex-soldier-turned-window-cleaner who has to rescue hostages after a gala is hijacked and its attendees fall into major trouble. Cleaner began streaming on Max at the end of last week, and the film wasted no time climbing to the top of streaming charts, sitting at #1 at the time of writing. Cleaner earned a “rotten” 52% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but a slightly kinder 66% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter.

Simon Uttley, Paul Andrew Williams, and Matthew Orton wrote the script for Cleaner, and Martin Campbell directed the film. Orton also worked as a writer on Marvel’s Moon Knight series,...

‘I’m just hoping Daisy gets that chance to shine’: John Boyega speaks out on Star Wars: New Jedi Order
John Boyega is "hoping Daisy [Ridley] gets that chance to shine" in ‘Star Wars: New Jedi Order’.The 33-year-old actor appeared opposite Ridley, also 33, from 2015’s ‘Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens’ to ‘Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker’ as Resistance hero Finn, and has now revealed he hopes his former co-star will get the opportunity to impress as Rey Skywalker "in a franchise that’s finally hers" through ‘New Jedi Order’.During an appearance on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, Boyega said: "It made sense to expand the franchise in that way. "I'm just looking forward, first of all to see if it's real, because we have had a few ‘Star Wars’ announcements - you know, in development, they can't quite get it done. "I'm just hoping that Daisy gets that chance to shine in a franchise that's finally hers, as a Jedi that's fully qualified,...

“The Force Is The Fans”: What Star Wars Celebration Japan Taught Us About That Galaxy Far, Far Away
Image
A week ago today, Ryan Gosling took to the Live Stage at Star Wars Celebration Japan to share a message with the thousands gathered in the Makuhari Messe Convention Centre. “As I’m here,” said the Canadian actor, fresh off the rockstar-like reveal that he would be leading Shawn Levy’s newly announced Star Wars: Starfighter, “I feel like the Force is the fans. And all we can hope is, ‘May the fans be with us.’” In the moment, it was a quippy turn of phrase to avoid giving anything away about Levy’s secretive new Star War; but by the end of the weekend, it seemed like the perfect summation of the current state of play in our beloved galaxy far, far away.

It would be fair to say that there has been a sense of a disturbance in the Force, both on the part of the fans and Lucasfilm,...

Carlton Cuse
Star Wars | New series in the works from the showrunner of Lost
Carlton Cuse
Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse, along with his son Nick, are working on a new Star Wars series for Disney/Lucasfilm, it’s been announced.

After a lengthy wait, Andor season 2 has begun streaming in certain territories (the UK gets it on the 23rd April). Meanwhile, Lucasfilm appears to be planning other small screen adventures in the Star Wars franchise.

Several outlets – including Variety – are reporting that Carlton Cuse, perhaps best known as the showrunner of hit ABC series Lost, is currently in the early stages of developing a new Star Wars TV series. Cuse is said to be making the show with his son Nick, writer on the likes of the 2019 Watchmen series or Masters Of The Air.

Besides that, absolutely nothing is known about what the Cuses are working on. This means we’ll have to write about some other semi-related things in order to make this news story look a bit more substantial.

New Star Wars TV Show in the Works With Lost Showrunner
Image
Ahead of the premiere of the second season of Andor, it's been revealed that another Star Wars TV series is entering development. The series will include the involvement of Carlton Cuse, known in part for his work as a co-showrunner on the hit series Lost.

Per Variety, a Star Wars series is in the works with Cuse and his son, Nick Cuse. Beyond the news that the father-son duo will be developing the project, not much else is yet known about the Star Wars show. No plot details have been revealed, nor has there been any information shared about which characters might appear. It's not even known where in the Star Wars timeline the series will be set.

This is also not the first time a Lost alum has spearheaded a Star Wars project. J.J. Abrams, a Lost co-creator, previously directed 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens and 2019's Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

New Star Wars Series Coming From ‘Lost’ Showrunner Carlton Cuse
Image
A newStar Wars series is in early development — and it’s coming from a familiar name in the world of sci-fi television, as per reports from Variety and The InSneider. Lost co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and his son, writer-producer Nick Cuse, are teaming up for the first time to develop an all-new story in a galaxy far, far away. With Andor wrapping up shortly, we're in need of a new prestige drama in the beloved franchise, so the timing is ideal. That's the headline, but the rest is shrouded in total mystery.

There are currently no plot details, character teases, timeline hints, or casting information attached to the project, so it's basically little more than a concept at this point. But when has that ever stopped us getting excited? Considering the Cuse family résumé, it’s fair to expect something twisty, ambitious, and character-driven, and probably massively divisive, let's be honest...

‘Star Wars’ Series in the Works From ‘Lost’ Boss Carlton Cuse, Son Nick Cuse
Image
A mysterious new “Star Wars” series is in early development from “Lost” co-showrunner Carlton Cuse and his son, Nick Cuse, Variety has confirmed.

There are practically no other details available about the show, such as which characters it will include, when it will take place in the “Star Wars” timeline or which actors will be cast.

Cuse is not the first “Lost” alum to travel to a galaxy far, far away. J.J. Abrams, a co-creator of the sci-fi classic, directed 2015’s “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and 2019’s “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.”

And Damon Lindelof, Cuse’s co-showrunner on “Lost,” was hired to co-write a film with Justin Britt-Gibson centered on Daisy Ridley’s character, Rey. However, Lindelof said in 2023 that he was “asked to leave” the “Star Wars” universe, and he and Britt-Gibson were replaced as writers by “Peaky Blinders” creator Steven Knight. Knight eventually departed the project,...

June 12 Will Be an Unbelievable Day for Star Wars Fans
Image
Nearly 50 years ago, George Lucas’ first Star Wars movie was simply called Star Wars, and not Star Wars: Episode IV- A New Hope when it premiered in theaters in 1977. Now, fans of the iconic franchise will be able to see the original cut of Star Wars just as moviegoers did back then. For some, it will be re-living a childhood memory and, for others, it is a chance to see the rare, original cut for the very first time.

Per Collider, the British Film Institute (BFI) will screen Star Wars in its original, rare, unaltered 1977 glory on the opening night of BFI’s Film on Film Festival on June 12. The event will be held at BFI’s Southbank Theater in London. Those in attendance will also be treated to archives and historical material from the movie, which will include deleted scenes and Polaroid pictures taken on the movie’s set.

This Terrifying Monster Movie Splashes Onto Max, Tops the Charts
Image
I was seated in the theater for Smile 2 when a trailer for George Nolfi’s Elevation came on. I was intrigued, largely because I hadn’t heard of it and have a profound, insatiable interest in monster movies. And then, I forgot the film existed.

Most of that is Smile 2’s fault. I couldn’t think about anything else for weeks, okay, and if you’ve seen Smile 2, you’ll know exactly what I mean. Months later, I was browsing Max when I saw Elevation was available to stream. My time had come! Better still, I enjoyed the film. I’m not the only one either, since Elevation has recently cracked the Top 10 on Max.

Learn more about the film below:

Per Max: Three years after creatures decimated humanity leaving survivors in the mountains, a father must venture below “The Line” to save his son.

Critical reviews of Elevation were mixed.

'I'm Thankful': John Boyega Recalls How Tom Cruise Got Him Cast in Star Wars: The Force Awakens
Image
John Boyega owes his Star Wars career to Tom Cruise. The actor recently explained how the Mission: Impossible actor had a hand in getting filmmaker J.J. Abrams to cast him in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

During a spotlight panel at the recent Emerald City Comic Con 2025 hosted by Popverse, Boyega recalled how Cruise watching his 2011 movie Attack the Block, which served as his breakout role, ultimately led to playing Finn in The Force Awakens. "I’m thankful to Tom Cruise, who loved Attack the Block. He was editing Mission: Impossible at the time with J.J. Abrams," the actor explained. "Tom told J.J., ‘You’ve got to watch this kid in Attack the Block.’ J.J. watched it, and one thing led to another, and four or five years later, I was in the movie."

Emily Blunt Had “Full Anxiety Attack” After Watching Natalie Portman As Nina Sayers in Black Swan

Did Emily Blunt go bonkers over Natalie Portman’s intense Black Swan performance? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)

Natalie Portman’s performance in Black Swan left a lasting impact on audiences—and even on fellow actors. Emily Blunt, who had just completed training for her own dance-heavy role in The Adjustment Bureau, admitted she had a full-blown anxiety attack after watching Portman’s intense portrayal of a ballerina.

Blunt was already nervous about her dance skills when she took on The Adjustment Bureau. Yeah, she wasn’t exactly a trained dancer. Unlike Portman, who trained extensively in ballet, Blunt had no dance experience before the film. She was upfront with director George Nolfi about it.

“I was honest. I’ve never danced in my life,” she said in a 2011 interview with Emanuel Levy. But she committed to the challenge, promising to work as hard as possible. Blunt’s preparation was intense.

'A Lot of Questions': Daisy Ridley Reveals Concerns About Star Wars Return
Image
Despite the many delays and production-related setbacks, the Rey Skywalker movie is still expected to be released, with Daisy Ridley set to return to Star Wars for the first time since 2019's The Rise of Skywalker. In a recent podcast, Ridley discussed her excitement over returning to Star Wars but also shared that there's a whole new set of challenges that she needs to overcome when New Jedi Order finally begins filming.

Per Backstage, during her appearance on the In the Envelope: The Actor's Podcast, Ridley noted how long it has been since she last portrayed Rey in the Star Wars films, which prompted the actress to wonder if she could step back into the role as if no time had passed. "The first three films, we did fairly close together in the grand scheme of things," Ridley said. "So one of the things is: Do I remember how to be Rey?...

Star Wars production does normal thing. People freak out for no reason
Image
There's been one topic I've had sitting on the backburner to write about for some time. It was never pressing, so I kept kicking it down the road. However, in light of the "Will she, won't she retire" news from last week, Kathleen Kennedy discussed how when Star Wars projects go through perfectly normal processes in the film industry, people scrutinize it as "troubled."

Speaking to Deadline, Kennedy said:

It doesn’t matter if you’re doing Star Wars or anything else. What’s troubling and frustrating is that our development gets scrutinized, and I don’t know any other production company where their development gets scrutinized like that. It’s very hard for anything to happen within Star Wars without some aspect of it becoming public before you even want it to become public... not every single thing we put in development we going to make. That’s not unusual.

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has given an update on upcoming Star Wars projects. She confirmed that several movies are in development but did not mention Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s Rey film.

She also confirmed that writer and producer Simon Kinberg is working on a new Star Wars trilogy. He is currently writing the script, and fans can expect to see progress by June. Kennedy praised Kinberg’s past work with Lucasfilm and is excited about the new project. Kennedy explained that trilogy of movies as “the next iteration, the new saga that moves us into the future.”

We’re absolutely rolling fast and furiously. That has gone exceptionally well, and he’s literally going to script as we speak. We’ll see something probably around June.

Star Wars Production Company Expected to Undergo Major Shakeup in 2025
Image
The 2025 landscape is experiencing a lot of shakeups in the film industry. After Sony CEO Tony Vinciquerra ended its run at the beginning of the year, Disney had a major shakeup to its live-action films, and other major changes happened at other big studios and production companies, including Lucasfilm.

George Lucas founded the major TV and film production company in 1971, and it has been the home of the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises, among many others. Since 2012, Lucasfilm has become a subsidiary of The Walt Disney Studios. Per The Hollywood Reporter, longtime producer and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy is expected to retire this year.

Anthony Mackie & Morena Baccarin's Post-Apocalyptic Action Thriller Is A Hit On Max
Image
While Netflix remains the undisputed king of streaming as far as subscriber numbers go, there's a heck of a lot of stuff happening elsewhere, and a lot of it is actually quite good. Apple TV+ sticks out as the most salient example, with the platform churning out a string of top-quality series from "Slow Horses" to TV's trippiest mind-bender "Severance," the second season of which is even better than the first.

But there's also Max, which is where you'll find Warner Bros. Discovery's diverse offerings. The merger of the two companies made for an odd pairing, wherein one of Hollywood's most esteemed studios met the network responsible for Shark Week. But Max is worthwhile for many reasons, having recently debuted the great and startlingly medically accurate series "The Pitt." Max also saw an Oscar-nominated animated movie dominate the most-watched charts recently, which is a better state of affairs than...

Andor Season 2 trailer is here!
Image
The revolution is here and so is the Andor Season 2 trailer!

As the critical acclaim of Season 1 peppers around the screen as Steve Earle's anti-Iraq war ballad "The Revolution Starts Now" croons in the background, we return to our Ferrix favorites throughout the trailer.

"We're in a war," says Cassian in the opening moments. "You want to fight or you want to win?" Quick shots of Cassian flying in a vessel and shooting Imperial targets on the ground sets up the highly political trailer. This season has been something Tony Gilroy has spouted as being the most important thing he's ever worked on. And yes, it is highly political.

All Star Wars is political. George Lucas and newer writer George Nolfi have said it. If you don't believe that, then you have never been paying attention.

The teaser trailer peeks in on several of the fan favorites from Season 1. Bix Calleen,...

“Not an advisable way to make a movie”: The Best Jason Bourne Movie Bent Reality Before Matt Damon’s Public Outburst
Image
The Jason Bourne saga came to life from the pages of Robert Ludlum’s book series through Matt Damon, and it will forever go down as some of his finest works in an action franchise of all time. But while the way the actor brought the titular protagonist to life throughout the film series has been nothing short of a feast for the eyes, making it all wasn’t all that easy.

The Bourne Ultimatum. | Credits: Universal Pictures.

This stands especially true in the case of the best Bourne film to date, i.e. The Bourne Ultimatum. As much as that flick won both critics’ and viewers’ hearts, curating it wasn’t all that easy. In fact, it might as well be admitted that the masterminds behind the flick pretty much bent reality to bring it to life. Then there was Damon’s public outburst, which put salt on the wounds.

Daisy Ridley's Star Wars Return Gets Disappointing Update
Image
Daisy Ridley's return to a galaxy far, far away has been delayed once again. A new filming start date for Star Wars: New Jedi Order has reportedly been revealed, roughly a month after Lucasfilm hired George Nolfi to script the movie.

According to trusted scooper Daniel Richtman, New Jedi Order, which remains the Rey Skywalker movie's working title (an official title has not yet been unveiled by Lucasfilm), will begin filming in 2026. Additionally, Richtman reports that Nolfi is making "some changes to the plot." When the movie was first announced, way back at Star Wars Celebration 2023, it was revealed to be taking place 15 years after the events of 2019's The Rise of Skywalker, following Ridley's Rey as she rebuilds the Jedi Order. With Nolfi rewriting the screenplay, it remains unclear if that will still be the main focus of the Star Wars movie.

Rey’s Next ‘Star Wars’ Adventure: Filming Delayed to Next Year with Plot Changes in the Works!
Image
In October 2022, it was reported that Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson were co-writing a new Star Wars movie, tentatively dubbed ‘New Jedi Order’ with Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy as the director. The film was supposed to take place after the sequel trilogy, possibly featuring characters from those films.

However, by March 2023, Lindelof and Britt-Gibson left, and Steven Knight replaced them as the screenwriter. Daisy Ridley was confirmed to return as Rey in April 2023, but by October 2024, Steven Knight also left, and George Nolfi was hired to write the screenplay, with filming now expected to start in late 2025.

Industry insider Daniel Richtman however recently reported on his private Patreon that the movie is scheduled to begin filming next year instead of this year. Additionally, he’s heard that there are some changes being made to the plot, though it’s unclear what those changes are.

Anthony Mackie's ‘Elevation’ Streaming on Max With Fresh Audience Score
Image
Before Captain America: Brave New World, Anthony Mackie battled monsters in the post-apocalyptic film Elevation, which was released in select theaters in 2024. Although critics dismissed the film as another War of the Words knockoff, audiences have grown fond of it, as evidenced by its fresh audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. But now more people can discover the underrated sci-fi flick as it arrives on a new streaming home this month.

Starting Feb. 21, Elevation is now available to stream on Max. The film follows Mackie as a single father in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by massive, alien-like creatures. Alongside fellow MCU star Morena Baccarin, and Maddie Hasson, the trio venture beyond "The Line," where monsters live on Earth below 8,000 feet. It's part A Quiet Place and War of the Worlds, while finds Elevation finds its own formula that genuinely feels like a fresh addition to the sci-fi action subgenre. As of Feb.

Daisy Ridley doesn't want a role in the new Harry Potter series: "It would be so terrifying"
Image
Daisy Ridley is no stranger to taking on high-pressure roles. Look no further than her portrayal of Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. The hype and expectation for those movies was off the scale. The role instantly made Ridley one of the most popular actresses in Hollywood, and she's already confirmed to make a big screen return to the galaxy far, far away. But what about a foray into the iconic Wizarding World?

With HBO making a Harry Potter series, names are beginning to surface; just lately, we heard that John Lithgow is in talks to play Albus Dumbledore, the headmaster at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. And while Daisy Ridley isn't linked with any role, the fact that she's a big, British actress is enough for fans to wonder if she'd like to get involved.

Ridley herself, however, has dismissed any notion of her joining the rebooted Wizarding World.

The upcoming Rey Skywalker film focused on the New Jedi Order starring Daisy Ridley was bumped from the 2026 release date. When it happened, it was a move that I was okay with because I wanted the creators to take their time instead of rushing to meet some deadline. It is a sentiment that Daisy Ridley agrees with.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter while promoting her upcoming film Cleaner, Ridley was asked about her upcoming Star Wars film and they were valuing quality over quickness of release. She said:

People have talked about it a lot that the release date often affects films and how quickly things go into production. So the freedom to make sure that this script is the best way to tell this story is wonderful, and I don’t think any fans would want it to be rushed. The wait will be worth it. I know what George Nolfi is working on,...

Daisy Ridley Promises Disney Will Deliver Quality Over Speed With Her Upcoming Movie – The Wait Will Be Worth It!

The movie has seen numerous delays and problems with writers and quite frankly we have no idea in what state the movie currently is.

The story is set 15 years after ‘Rise of Skywalker,’ exploring the post-war, post-First Order galaxy with the Jedi in disarray. Kathleen Kennedy shared that Rey is working to fulfill her promise...

Daisy Ridley Talks the Physical Toll of ‘Cleaner’ and Quality Over Quickness for Her Next ‘Star Wars’ Movie
Image
Daisy Ridley is back in action mode with Martin Campbell’s Cleaner.

The English actor is coming off two years’ worth of acclaimed work in a number of different genres, including the biographical sports drama Young Woman and the Sea, the offbeat romantic dramedy Sometimes I Think About Dying and her self-generated neo-noir Magpie. But when the opportunity presented itself to work with the filmmaker behind two beloved James Bond films, Casino Royale and GoldenEye, Ridley knew it was time to return to the type of physical acting that made her a household name via the Star Wars sequel trilogy. (Campbell and Ridley hit it off so well that they’re already in development on another action-thriller called Dedication.)

Opening in theaters on Feb. 21, Ridley plays Joey Locke, a former soldier who’s now a high-rise window cleaner for a London building that’s home to a prominent energy company.

Daisy Ridley believes Star Wars films have always been political: "It's good and evil"
Image
Since leaving the world of galactic warfare and space wizards behind, Daisy Ridley has built quite an impressive resume for herself. From portraying the lead role in Ophelia, a reimagination of William Shakespeare's "Hamlet" to playing Gertrude Ederle, the first woman to swim across the English Channel, in her biopic Young Woman and the Sea, Ridley has hopped across genres.

Her next movie, Cleaner, is an action flick that is being compared with the Die Hard series. She is playing Joey, a window cleaner who is also an ex-soldier. The official synopsis revealed that the movie will be set in a London skyscraper that gets hijacked by a group of criminal activists trying to expose an energy company's corruption at their annual gala. One extremist crosses the line and tries to murder everyone in the building, and it falls to Ridley's character - who will be suspended 50 floors up,...

Wtf Happened to Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
Image
On your left! Before Anthony Mackie leads the latest star-spangled adventure for Marvel Studios, Captain America: Brave New World, we’re looking back at the film that introduced the masses to Sam Wilson and gave Chris Evans’s Steve Rogers his best cinematic experience, Captain America: The Winter Solider. As the ninth film in Marvel’s cinematic universe and a sequel to 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, The Winter Solider brings superhero cinema to another level for a political action-thriller unlike anything in the studio’s history before its 2014 release. Which begs the question: What the fuck happened to Captain America: The Winter Soldier?

Work on Captain America: The Winter Soldier began before Marvel released The First Avenger, with writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely penning the screenplay. Multiple directors approached the high-profile sequel, including The Bourne Ultimatum director George Nolfi and F. Gary Gray, known for directing Ice...

Daisy Ridley Teases Her Return to Star Wars & Shares Her Opinion on the Franchise: “They’re All Political”
Image
Daisy Ridley, known for playing Rey in the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy, recently shared her thoughts on the political themes found throughout the Star Wars movies. While the Star Wars franchise is famous for its action, adventure, and epic battles, Ridley and many fans believe the films also have a deeper message about politics and society.

Ridley commented on the themes while promoting her latest movie ‘Cleaner.’

I feel like [the Star Wars films] are all political. I feel like it’s the individual versus the big corporation or the big group, so I think they always have been. And ultimately I think the films are emotional in that it’s good and evil, which we all can relate to very specifically in our day-to-day lives. But yes, I do feel those conversations are woven within the story, and I’m very excited to see what George does.

The themes of good versus evil in Star Wars are clear,...
