Michael Cera is recalling his time with Rihanna on the set of This Is the End and remembering the slap the singer gave him in the film which turned out to be real.

“I thought it would look a lot better if she hit me. I don’t think it took much convincing to get her to do it,” Cera told Rolling Stone in a recent interview. “I just thought it would look a lot better than a fake slap would because you can really feel it. It just looks a lot funnier!”

Michael J. Fox is best known for starring in hit movies and TV shows in the '80s and '90s, including Spin City and the Back to the Future trilogy, though his filmography is full of forgotten and underrated features deserving recognition among the list of his top films. The beloved actor began his career in the late '70s and became a household name through his role as Alex P. Keaton on the popular sitcom Family Ties the following decade. He broke out on the big screen with the 1985 blockbuster Back to the Future, proving to be a star with real box office appeal.

Throughout his career, Fox has found ways to reinvent himself, and he has played a wide variety of movie and TV characters over the decades, from affable everymen to unlikable yuppies. While he had his share of flops, his best movies have typically capitalized on his whip-smart comedic timing.

Exclusive: The management and production firm Navigation Media Group, repping creators in film and television, is expanding with the addition of Kegan Schell as Literary Manager.

Schell is a passionate advocate for queer and underrepresented talent who, at Navigation, will work with a broad range of creators in the horror and genre space. He joins from Echo Lake Entertainment, where he worked for six years. It was there that he first came to connect with Navigation’s co-founder, James Engle, while working as his assistant.

Schell brings with him a list of clients that includes Tom Hanada (Motherland: Fort Salem), Jess Carson (The Flash), Meredith Kecskemety (The Legend of Vox Machina), Alyssa & Griffin Devine (Portals), Todd Stephens (Swan Song) and Addison Heimann (Hypochondriac). While Navigation is headquartered in Los Angeles, with teams in both L.A. and Vancouver, Schell will be the first member of the company to work out of New York.

The Hardy Boys will solve mysteries for a third and final season, to stream on Hulu in 2023. Additionally, Bailee Madison (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) has boarded the cast for that farewell run.

Season 3, announced on Wednesday, will pick up where the shocking events of Season 2 left off. “The Hardy boys and their friends dig up even more secrets, conspiracies and threats as they piece together their great-grandfather’s long-lost map and race against time to uncover a powerful ancient relic before it falls into the wrong hands,” reads the official synopsis.

“The Hardy Boys” are back for a second season of mystery solving.

Corus Entertainment-backed producer-distributor Nelvana and Lambur Productions, who produce the show, have greenlit a second season (10 x 60′), which has again been picked up by Hulu for the U.S. and Canadian kids’ broadcaster Ytv. The series, which is based on the classic books by Franklin W. Dixon, will start production in Toronto and Southern Ontario later this month, and premiere in 2022.

Picking up six months after the events of season 1, the next chapter of “The Hardy Boys” finds Frank and Joe tackling another complicated mystery when a local Bridgeport teen goes missing and a shadowy corporation moves into town.

“The Hardy Boys” novels were first published in 1927 and have been updated for new generations of readers over subsequent decades. There have been five television adaptations of the original IP thus far, with Nelvana producing a short-lived series...

David Barker’s psychological thriller Pimped, which explores what might happen if two men lured a woman who proved to be stronger, smarter and more cunning than them, won the Australian feature award at Monster Fest: The Homecoming.

Staged at Cinema Nova from November 22-25, the seventh edition of Monster Fest drew nearly 2,900 patrons, a record for the event.

The Golden Monster award for best feature went to director Jonas Åkerlund’s Lords of Chaos, which is set in Oslo in 1987 and stars Rory Culkin as a teenager who forms the aptly-titled black metal band Mayhem with his equally fanatical mates. They begin burning down churches throughout the countryside and stealing tombstones for their record store, leading to violence. It has yet to find a local distributor.

Synopsis:

The film follows a high school senior, Alex Lainey, who has an encounter with mysterious lights that appear over her small town.

She soon develops dangerous, supernatural abilities and turns to her childhood friend Sean Terrel. The authorities target them and a chase ensues as officials try to discover the truth behind Alex's transformation.

Teen Lust is definitely a dubious title. It's not one you want to order on the company dime while on a business trip. Nor do you want it read back to you while Visa runs a credit fraud check. And it's probably not a title you want your spouse spotting during that end of the month bill pay. Perhaps that's why we haven't heard too much about it yet. People are afraid. The movie may be hampered by it's gleefully inappropriate nomenclature. But that saucy title barely scratches at the surface of what hides behind it.

Yes, lovers of 80s sex comedies are in for a real treat. And the movie certainly trumps the idea that Hollywood has run out of original ideas. We, as true movie fans, just have to dig a litter deeper. If Teen Lust had of been released in 1986, or even in 1996, untouched, we'd be celebrating its anniversary as a classic.

Syfy has ordered the Aftermath TV series from Halfire Entertainment. A post-apocalyptic drama, Aftermath is created by showrunners William Laurin and Glenn Davis. Jason Stone directs the first two episodes. Laurin and Davis will executive produce along with Julie Hope. Suzanne Berger and Connie Dolphin will produce. Jason Stone is consulting producer.

The cast of Aftermath includes The Killing's Julia Sarah Stone and Levi Meaden, and Deadpool's Taylor Hickson. 24's Leslie Hope is set to guest star and will direct two episodes in the first season. Production begins May 2, in Vancouver, with a planned summer premiere on both Syfy and Bell Media's Space, in Canada.

Syfy will launch a new Pa show in Summer called Aftermath. The 13-episode Canadian apocalypse thriller will begin production on May 2 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Aftermath was created by William Laurin (Missing) and Glenn Davis (John Woo’s Once a Thief) and centers on couple Karen and Joshua Copeland and their children Dana, Brianna and Matt, who must battle for survival after civilization comes to an apocalyptic end, triggered by massive storms, meteor strikes, earthquakes and plague – and the rise of supernatural creatures.

The dark mysteries of 'The Calling' will finally be unveiled when the new small-town crime thriller arrives on DVD here in the UK on 16 February courtesy of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The story, directed by Jason Stone, is based on the novel by Inger Ash Wolfe and it is a journey to the shadowy landscape between faith and fear. New Director Jason Stone brings to life a psychological crime thriller – highlighted by an All-star cast – with his new film – The Calling.

Hazel Micallef (Susan Sarandon) plays a seasoned cop in the quaint little town of Fort Dundas, which hasn’t seen too much excitement in years. When she decides to check on a neighbor and good friend of her mother Emily (Ellen Burstyn), Micallef happens upon a gruesome crime scene.

Micallef needs help to solve this type of murder, so she reaches out to Detective Ray Green (Gil Bellows), who doesn’t seem to want to come to her aid, now or ever. When a younger cop named Ben Wingate (Topher Grace) decides to transfer to their precinct, he might just be the help she needs to find who committed this heinous crime!

There is not anything innately offensive about a really decent made-for-tv thriller, especially the type based on those ceaseless examples of books once referred to as dime store pulp fiction, juicy, hard boiled or even illogical. Sarandon is joined by Topher Grace as they race against the clock and try to figure out the motive behind a series of mouth-orientated murders in a small Canadian town.

The Calling also stars Donald Sutherland as a priest who helps the police team figure out that there is a religious meaning behind the serial killings.

Grace's character then finds himself in potential danger as he goes to any means necessary to prevent more deaths.

The thriller is directed by This Is The End's Jason Stone, and has been adapted from Inger Ash Wolfe's novel of the same name.

While summer 2014 has been typically top heavy with tentpoles, the pickings have been a little more slim for filmgoers in the market for grittier fare. However, if you've been looking for a serial killer potboiler, "The Calling" is right up your street. Production is set to commence in mid-August in Canada. eOne will release in the Us, Canada, the UK, Australia and New Zealand and South Africa. Jeff Sackman’s Tajj Media handles international sales.
