Brett Beckett
Brett Beckett was born on August 11th, 1969, in Selma, Alabama, and was raised in a U.S. Air Force family, moving every few years. He is a son of Sharon Louise (Whitt), and Mason Hartsel Beckett, a retired Air Force Colonel. He has two younger brothers, Curtis (Curt) Beckett, and Trenton (Trent) Beckett (deceased 2007). He is married to Andrea Lynne (Moore) Beckett. Brett's interest in movie making began during middle school in South Dakota and California where, with his friends, he would create costumes and make-up effects for Halloween, borrow his parents' Super 8 movie camera, and make movies with his brothers. Brett graduated from Robinson Secondary in Fairfax, VA in 1987, having also attended Robert E. Lee High School in Montgomery, AL for his junior year, and John W. North High School in Riverside, CA for his freshman and sophomore years. Having played the drums since the age of 10, Brett joined the marching band at North High School, but his family moved to Alabama again after only a few practices. During school he was involved with the drama department for two years, which prompted him to begin a communications degree at West Virginia University. Switching majors to Secondary Education in 1989, Brett graduated with a B.S in Secondary Education with a Language Arts specialization in 1991. He has remained in education since, getting an M.A. in Special Education in 2000 from the University of Northern Colorado. Teaching brought him back to dramatic arts when he was given the opportunity to teach movie making classes in Colorado. His classes create movies to compete in local film festivals, and have even created full-length movies with school premieres. During this time, Brett was given the opportunity to be involved in the making of a movie production at a local church, and even though he can't sing, was offered a role as an extra in the choir. While teaching, Brett met David Tybor, a movie director. Having worked together through school occasionally, they began their first collaboration on an independent short titled Invisible World in 2018.
