Never has the concept of “one for the diehard fans” been so applicable as it is to Timo Vuorensola’s scattershot, stakes-free, self-consciously wacky space comedy. Its existence is baffling until you realise that this sequel to a 2012 sci-fi yarn about Nazis on the moon was entirely crowdfunded.

The Coming Race kicks off in 2047. Earth has been destroyed by nuclear war and the thousand or so human survivors have relocated to a former Nazi base on the moon. They are led nominally by the ailing, regal Renate (Julia Dietze) but her daughter, plucky narrator-heroine Obi (Lara Rossi), is the one who’s really in charge. Sf Studios picks up sequel to cult film.

Sf Studios has picked up Nordic rights (Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland) to the sequel to cult film Iron Sky.

Myriad Pictures’ genre label Scoundrel Media handles international sales on Iron Sky: The Coming Race and is showing a teaser here.

The film recently wrapped in Belgium and is scheduled to open in February 2018. Udo Kier, Lara Rossi, Tom Green, Julia Dietze from Iron Sky, Vladimir Burlakov, and Stephanie Paul star.

“I’ve been working on this film for years, and now, with the release schedule forming up, I’m finally able to sigh in relief,” director Timo Vuorensola said.

“Collaborating with the Iron Sky Universe team, producer Tero Kaukomaa and director Timo Vuorensola, for a pan-Nordic release is something we look forward to,” Jenny Stjernströmer Björk, chief content officer at Sf Studios, said.

Sequel to cult hit takes 25 years after events in the original.

Myriad Pictures’ genre label Scoundrel Media has launched handle international sales excluding Scandinavia and China in Cannes on the sci-fi action comedy Iron Sky: The Coming Race.

Udo Kier, Lara Rossi, Tom Green, Julia Dietze from Iron Sky, Vladimir Burlakov, and Stephanie Paul star in the sequel to Iron Sky, and Timo Vuorensola directs from a script by Dalan Musson.

Iron Sky The Coming Race shot in Belgium and is in post. It tales place 25 years after events in the original, when Nazis colonised the moon and launched an attack on earth.

The first Iron Sky movie arrived in 2012, off the back of a six year development period. It was fuelled heavily by fandom, with the makers of the film working closely with its potential audience through the making of the movie. Eventually, it reached the finish line, although its UK release spluttered, off the back of the decision to give it just one day in British cinemas. It took a fan backlash to do something about that.

Still, it’s a movie firmly classed as a cult one, with reviews not on the happy side generally. But still, it did enough business to warrant a sequel. Which is what brings us all together today.

Two-month shoot saw the set catch fire and lead actor suffer injury during the final week.

Iron Sky: The Coming Race, a sequel to Nazis-on-the-Moon feature Iron Sky, has completed principal photography at Aed Studios, near Antwerp, Belgium.

The two-month shoot on the $19m Finland-Germany-Belgium co-production saw the set catch fire during a scene set in the cockpit of a spaceship and male lead Vladimir Burlakov dislocated his shoulder during a stunt rehearsal in the film week of filming.

Post-production will be split between Finland and Germany. The VFX will be handled by Oscar-winning German studio Pixomondo while the score will be composed next year with Slovenian industrial band Laibach.

The financing included crowdfunding, with close to $625,000 raised through IndieGoGo by more than 7,000 fans from 75 countries.

Finnish-German science fiction film Iron Sky: The Coming Race has completed its latest crowdfunding campaign, raising more than $500,000 on IndieGoGo.

More than 7,000 fans from 75 countries took part in the campaign.

“It’s amazing to see fans support us so heavily”, said producer Tero Kaukomaa. “This goes to show there’s an audience out there waiting for original science fiction films and they’re not afraid to show it.”

The main source of funds in the campaign came from the offer of extra roles, which raised nearly $150,000 of the total amount from more than 300 fans. Parts ranged from citizens of a Moonbase to being eaten by a dinosaur, costing from $200 to $5,000.

“The extra roles are a fun way to engage our audience and to offer them a unique experience,” said director Timo Vuorensola. “Filmmaking is an adventure and it is great to be able to bring our audience...

A teaser for Iron Sky: The Coming Race has been released.

The sequel to the 2012 film reveals Nazis living underground in the 'Hollow Earth'.

The video features a Tyrannosaurus rex-riding Adolf Hitler, as well as revealing that the Sarah Palin-pastiche President of the United States is a shape-shifting monster.

Set 20 years after the first film, it sees the last survivors of humanity living in the Nazis' formerly secret moon base.

With resources running out, they set their sights on the promise of the Hollow Earth.

The filmmakers are seeking to crowdfund the project.

Director Timo Vuorensola will return for Iron Sky: The Coming Race, with stars Udo Kier and Julia Dietze returning alongside Tom Green.

Iron Sky producer Tero Kaukomaa has revealed further details of Iron Sky The Coming Race, the $10m sequel to the original Nazis on the moon saga.

It is set at the end of WWII and follows various high-ranking Nazi officials setting up a well-equipped (and very smartly polished and decked-out) base on the moon. Udo Kier has worked with the likes of Lars Von Trier, Gus Van Sant, and Rob Zombie. He’s portrayed Dracula (and assorted other vamps), Hitler, and Jekyll and is still going strong after over three decades of acting, his latest role being in Nazis-on-the-moon horror-comedy Iron Sky.

Some would say it’s his piercing blue eyes and thick accent that cement Kier’s presence as deliciously memorable regardless of the size of the part. I would also say it's his unique presence, the way he moves with such elegance and a dash of old world, unearthly sexuality and a twinkle of humor.

Ever dreamt of defending planet Earth from Nazi invaders from space? The dream will soon be fulfilled with the release of Iron Sky Invasion, a video game based on the “Nazis on the moon” sci-fi comedy Iron Sky from Finnish director Timo Vuorensola. Topware Interactive announced at video games conference Gamescom on August 19th in Cologne, Germany, that they have acquired the rights to the film and will be releasing the video game adaptation on Mac, PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

The game will follow the pulp fiction plot of the film, in which a colony of Nazis living on the dark side of the moon begin an invasion of the earth. Blind Spot Pictures has given us a exclusive clip to their upcoming sci-fi comedy Iron Sky. We've seen about four trailers for the sci-fi moon Nazi invasion film Iron Sky. This movie sounded really cool at first, I loved the initial concept, and liked the first couple of teaser trailers. I'm not sure if the comedy aspect they've thrown into it will work. I hoped the film would have more of a serious tone, like what we saw in the first couple of teaser trailers. There are movie situations like this where serious is funnier than comedy. I hope the movie turns out to be good though! I'm rooting for it.
