Biography

    • Rory Finnegan is a young Canadian actor, born in Nanaimo, British Columbia and raised in Smithers, in Northern British Columbia. He now calls Vancouver his home. Rory began acting when he was 14, and hasn't stopped since. Rory's first acting performance was as Lord Capulet in Smithers Secondary School's production of Romeo and Juliet. Under the direction of Heather Lee, President of the Association of British Columbia Drama Educators, and occasionally Mike Stack, actor, director, educator and former coordinator of Bard on the Beach's Young Shakespeareans program, Rory continued to develop his abilities as a stage actor in both Shakespeare and musical theatre productions. His roles include Fred Casely in Smithers Secondary School's performance of Chicago and Doctor Caius in Shakespeare's Merry Wives of Windsor, performed by Smithers Secondary School at the Northern British Columbia Drama Zones Festival. In his final year at Smithers Secondary School, Rory played the role of Prospero in Shakespeare's The Tempest. Rory's love for all things theatre led him to exploring script-writing and technical theatre in addition to acting. He successfully completed his script "Tannhauser Gate" under Shawn Macdonald in the Digital Leap program, and was awarded best lighting technician and best lighting design for an original play performed by Smithers Secondary School at the Northern British Columbia Drama Zones Festival. In his pursuit of an acting career, Rory is currently enrolled in Vancouver Film School's Acting Essentials and is working towards his diploma in Acting. When he is not busy with performances and practice, Rory enjoys watching - and especially talking - about art and spending time with his family and friends.
