Rat in the Kitchen Exclusive Clip: Introducing Chef Miranti
Ludo Lefebvre in Top Chef Masters (2009)
The long wait for Rat in the Kitchen is almost over.

The highly anticipated TBS reality series debuts on Thursday, March 31, at 9 pm Et.

In the premiere episode, “The Case of The Fishy Sauce,” co-hosts Chef Ludo Lefebvre and comedian Natasha Leggero welcome six new chefs to compete for a shot at $50,0000 in this culinary whodunnit.

Will a fishy faux pas be enough for the rat to avoid being identified and scurry home with the dough?

TBS describes the series as "far more than a cooking show hosted by iconic roasting queen and comedian Natasha Leggero and celebrity chef Ludo Lefebvre, is a game of high stakes cat and mouse where viewers get to play detective."

Over the course of the 10-episode season, a mix of professional chefs and passionate home cooks compete in a series of creative cooking challenges, earning cash in their bank for every dish that impresses Chef Ludo,...

‘Rat In The Kitchen’: Crew Of ITV America’s TBS Cooking Competition Strike Over Healthcare Benefits
Image
A handful of crew of TBS’ upcoming cooking competition series Rat In The Kitchen have gone on strike over healthcare benefits.

The series, which is produced by ITV America’s Thinkfactory Media, has been shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, but certain members of the IATSE crew downed tools this week.

They say that they are not being provided healthcare benefits. Crew stood down on Thursday saying that producers have been “unresponsive” for requests for recognition. It’s thought that the crew is a mix of ITV America staff and folk from the Warner-owned studio complex.

We understand that around 10% of staff are striking but production is continuing.

The series, which is based on a buzzy British format, is fronted by Natasha Leggero. The ten-part series, which also features celebrity chef Ludo Lefebvre as a judge, follows a group of cooks competing to win a cash prize across a series of challenges.

‘Adam’ Trailer: ‘Transparent’ Director Rhys Ernst Takes on Raunchy Trans Rom-Com
Joey Soloway
The massive success of Jill Soloway’s “Transparent” offered a foot in the door for many trans actors, writers, and directors to get a first legitimate credit in Hollywood. Episode director Silas Howard directed Octavia Spencer in “A Kid Like Jake”; writer Our Lady J is a writer and producer on “Pose”; and actress Trace Lysette’s star is about to reach new heights when she appears opposite Jennifer Lopez in “Hustlers.”

Now, we can add Rhys Ernst to the list of trans Hollywood elite to come out of the school of Soloway. A visual artist and filmmaker, Ernst makes his feature filmmaking debut with “Adam,” a Ya romantic-comedy with an unusual twist.

The movie, which premiered at Sundance earlier this year, packs a number of rising stars in its ranks. Margaret Qualley, who will next appear in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” costars in the film,...

‘Genius’ #3 – scales back in quality
Genius #3

Written by Adam Freeman and Marc Bernardin

Art by Afua Richardson

Published by Image Comics

I like this comic book less and less the more that I read it. With each issue, Genius scales back in quality and realism. Part of that is due to the current political backdrop in the United States, and how the comic tries to comment on a current events, but fails. More importantly, this critic is just having trouble believing in the story since the motivations within feel thin.

Reginald Grey is piecing together who exactly Destiny Ajaye is and why she is declaring war on the city. The governor, unable to tap the National Guard to deal with Destiny, orders the police to hold off and avoid any direct confrontation for the time being. Meanwhile, Destiny’s men hang back, while the journalist we saw before goes to Destiny in search of answers.

‘Genius’ #2 – stretching plausibility
Genius #2

Written by Adam Freeman and Marc Bernardin

Art by Afua Richardson

Published by Image Comics

War against the Lapd has begun. At this point in the series, there’s a bit of a credibility gap in the story, as we only poorly understand the motivations for the gangbangers as well as for Destiny. This could be fixed with a few issues explaining some context and backstory, but as it stands, the action thus far is pretty hard to buy into.

The main police analyst doesn’t have much to do in this issue, instead learning a bit more about Destiny and fruitlessly trying to stop his comrades from getting killed. Destiny leaks videos of residents of South Central discussing the brutality they experience in a viral video campaign, which then leaks into news media. Destiny’s troops lead the cops in a protracted gun battle, luring them deeper and deeper into the neighborhood.

‘Genius’ #1- An Interesting Premise, another promising new series from Image
Genius #1

Written by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman

Illustrated by Afua Richardson

Published by Image Comics

Genius is, at its core, a tale of revenge. A lot of kids grow up around a militarized, hostile police force and get lost in the system, and many of those kids grow up angry and potentially violent. This comic wants to show what would happen if one of those kids happened to be on an intellectual par with Hannibal or Alexander the Great.

Destiny Ajaye is a genius at what she does, which is a form of insurgent warfare directed against the Lapd. She has effectively united all of the gangs in Los Angeles under her control after spending years as one of the leader’s girlfriends, using that time to study all of the key players. After her men shoot up a group of cops, the Lapd prepares to descend in force on her hideout,...

A: When I first heard about the audition, I read the description that it used to be a book so I looked everywhere for print copies, but I actually didn’t get to find it.

DC Comics Reboot, 'Powers' And 'Game Of Thrones' In Today's Twitter Report
The big news in comics today is the massive reboot going on over at DC. Jim Lee and Geoff Johns' "Justice League" #1 went on sale all over the country to kick it off, and the two of them have been touring New York City on the signing circuit to promote it. Lee even tweeted some photographic evidence.

Opinions on what DC's relaunched titles will accomplish varied. A couple of takes, along with Edgar Wright's "Game of Thrones" discovery and info about a "Powers" pilot cut you can't see unless you're at Brian Michael Bendis' house made the rundown today.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for August 31, 2011.

"Powers" pt. 1: @Brianmbendis @Oeming got the new powers cut. come over!

-Brian Michael Bendis, Writer ("Ultimate Spider-Man," "New Avengers")

"Powers" pt. 2: @Oeming @Brianmbendis what's that? A new cut of the Powers pilot? Hells yea! After...

Beyoncé And 'The Hunger Games' In Today's Twitter Report
Beyoncé and the new "Hunger Games" sneak peek attracted more responses than any other moments among comics tweeters last night at the MTV Video Music Awards. Writers and artists alike immediately put their imaginations to use predicting what motherhood will be like for the pop star.

In the meantime, Ben Templesmith seems to have discovered that the announcer from "The Hunger Games," Claudius Templesmith, shares a name with him. His response and reactions to Lady Gaga's performance and the return of "Doctor Who" ranked atop our favorite tweets of the last 24 hours.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for August 29, 2011.

"The Hunger Games" pt. 1: @Templesmith Who do I sue to get my name changed in this Hunger Games thing then. There can be only one Templesmith & I'm legal bitches!

-Ben Templesmith, Writer/Artist ("30 Days of Night," "Welcome to Hoxford")

Steve Jobs, CGI Yoda Replacements And Beer-Painted Batman In Today's Twitter Report
I actually went light on the Steve Jobs retweets today. By now everyone knows the news about him resigning as Apple's CEO. However, you may have missed a few of the zingers that got tossed around the feed this morning and last night.

In other subjects, the art was strong with the last day's worth of tweeting. Ben Templesmith claims a Batman sketch he posted was painted in beer, which in addition to the fact that it's a Ben Templesmith Batman sketch makes the piece mighty rad. Check out a link to the big picture and Robert Kirkman's love for the CGI Yoda replacement that's coming to the new "Star Wars: Episode I" Blu-ray discs. It's all in the highlight reel below.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for August 25, 2011.

@MrAdamFreeman Steve Jobs. iQuit. Didn't write that joke, but love it.

'The Smurfs' At The Box Office, 'Captain America' And 'True Blood' In Today's Twitter Report
The crowd-drawing power of "The Smurfs" proved powerful enough to tie "Cowboys and Aliens" over the weekend. The little blue guys also beat out "Captain America: The First Avenger" in terms of box office receipts, which seemed to impress writer Javier Grillo-Marxuach.

Marvel's patriotic hero continued to get a lot of attention in weekend tweeting, though, as did Harry Potter. Both of those guys, "True Blood" and a pitch for an all-new Showtime series made this morning's highlight reel.

I'm @brianwarmoth, and this is the Twitter Report for August 1, 2011.

@Okbjgm the smurfs may have taken down indiana jones, james bond and ccaptain america? does that mean belgium is the next global superpower?

-Javier Grillo-Marxuach, Writer ("Annihilation: Super-Skrull," "The Middleman")

@marcbernardin Goddamn, Captain America made me happy. (Not as happy as #AttacktheBlock, but still.) Marvel had a good run this year. Believe.

Gene Simmons at an event for Swordfish (2001)
Following my post about the wrenching premiere of “Gene Simmons Family Jewels” (A&E, Tuesdays at 10 p.m. Est), executive producers Adam Freeman and Adam Reed contacted HitFix to give their first interview since the episode aired. They talked candidly about, well, the show everyone’s talking about, answering questions about whether or not they saw the split between Gene Simmons and Shannon Tweed coming, what they think the end result will be and (yes) what they have to say to people who think it’s all fake. Some people have posted comments stating that they absolutely believe what they saw in...

Tobey Maguire is ''interested'' in making a movie version of new book 'Hero Complex'. The 'Spider-Man' actor is said to have taken to the idea of making a film based on how a man transforms himself into a superhero after being a geek in his school years, based on the latest project by Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman. Speaking to ComicBookMovie.com, Tobey said: ''Well we are excited that Tobey Maguire is interested. ''Having someone who has played in that space before is perfect because he both gives it credibility and lets the audience wink...

'American Idol' Finale, Tom Jones, And Role Models In Today's Twitter Report
You didn't have to be an "American Idol" fan to get caught up in storm of tweets the show generated last night. Even Ande Parks, who professes not to like the televised contest, lamented missing Tom Jones' performance.

The Lunar Eclipse, Spider-Man Musical Accidents, And 'Fear Itself' In Today's Twitter Report
The lunar eclipse attracted tweets from all over last night and left a few astonishing amateur photos in the feed this morning. It also prompted a diverse array of reactions, however, and you need look no farther than Jimmy Palmiotti and Joe Hill's posts to see where the poles lie.

In other, more serious musical-related news, writer Brian Lynch got seated for the "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" performance that ended badly last night. Check out some perspective from him and others down below, along with some in-progress artwork from Jim Lee.

Preview: 'The Authority' Heads Into Space With New Lineup And Creative Team!
Wildstorm's superhero series "The Authority" has passed through several prominent writers' hands in the past, including Warren Ellis, Mark Millar and Grant Morrison, but the latest writing duo of Marc Bernardin and Adam Freeman might be facing the greatest challenge of them all: taking "The Authority" home.

Bernardin spoke with MTV News about his upcoming run on "The Authority" with Freeman, revealing that the basic premise of the upcoming story arc focuses on the superhero team dealing with the fallout of the "World's End" storyline that involved the Authority's massive spaceship, The Carrier, crashing into the middle of London. Given that cataclysmic aftermath, there is literally nowhere left for the Authority to go but up.

Read on for an exclusive preview of "The Authority" #18 and more details about the creative team's plans for their run.

Writers Adam Freeman and Marc Bernardin will take the reins of WildStorm's popular title The Authority, beginning with an epilogue in issue #17. Freeman and Bernardin will take over from Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning (Guardians of the Galaxy, Nova) when they depart the title on issue #17. "We very much wanted to make sure that The Authority was accessible," Bernardin told Newsarama. "Part of the beauty of Warren [Ellis]'s run was that you could pick it up and, almost instantly, get what he was doing. We wanted to capture that sense of get-up-and-go." "From page one of issue #18 all bets are off," added Freeman. "The Authority has historically been one of the most flawed teams (more)...
