One of TV’s longest-running reality competition series is back today as The Challenge returns for Season 41.

This season of the show, titled “Vets & New Threats,” sees 16 contestants from past seasons returning to compete alongside 16 rookies from shows like Love Island, Big Brother, and Survivor. Contestants are paired up into guy-girl duos with one being a “vet” and the other a “new threat.” Tj Lavin is also back to host.

Sixteen veterans are about to get a run for their money when “new threats” crash the party in Season 41 of The Challenge.

In The Challenge: Vets and New Threats (which premieres on MTV Wednesday, July 30 at 8/7c), veterans are paired with rookies for another no-holds-barred battle for some big bucks. In celebration of Season 40 of MTV’s “The Challenge,” Emily Longeretta moderated a panel with Julie Pizzi, president & CEO, Bunim/Murray Productions and 51 Minds Entertainment, showrunner and executive producer Justin Booth and cast members Leroy Garrett, Aneesa Ferreira, Ct Tamburello and Rachel Robinson.

“One of the things we really focused on was the cast and what we considered ‘Challenge‘ royalty,” said Pizzi on the milestone season. Booth added, “I think the Season 40 of it all was just about having 40 kids and making games bigger and making games bigger and better than before.”

Hot on the heels of the April 2025 finale of The Challenge All Stars: Rivals, MTV has some exciting news to share with fans of the history-making franchise.

Never mind risking the possibility of Challenge fatigue, MTV has already went ahead and confirmed the return the longest-running reality competition series on television (according to Paramount) for a landmark 41st season. The Challenge season 41 has been renewed and the new season will begin airing on MTV this summer. The theme and full cast will be announced soon.

Look, I love The Challenge as much as the next fan, but we've gotten two seasons in the past year, and now another's on the way. It doesn't help that the past two seasons have been some of the most dramatic and challenging (no pun intended) to watch. There have been personal dramas and minor scandals that managed to cast a shadow over both seasons.

The Challenge is officially coming back.

During Variety‘s FYC TV Fest, executive producer Julie Pizzi confirmed that the MTV series has been renewed for Season 41.

Fan favorites Aneesa Ferreira, Leroy Garrett, and Ct Tamburello are confirmed in the cast, which will be officially announced along with the theme at a later date.

They even correctly determined each other’s answer to host Tj Lavin’s twist about splitting or keeping the $250,000 prize.

The Challenge All Stars: Rivals came to a dramatic end on Wednesday when Adam Larson and Steve Meinke edged out Da'Vonne Rogers and Shane Landrum by just one star to win the $250,000 grand prize. Frank Fox and Sam McGinn finished in third place, with Melissa Reeves and Nicole Zanatta in fourth.

For Steve, winning The Challenge was redemption after he "screwed the pooch" in All Stars 4 by misreading instructions and allowing Laurel Stucky to beat him to the finish line. "It was absolutely embarrassing," he tells Gold Derby (see the video interview above). "If you know me, it's the most Steve way to lose something like this. Not against someone else, but myself."

It was a lesson learned for the 48-year-old Challenge vet. This season, Steve says he was hyperaware of the rules and listened to host Tj Lavin's directions with extreme concentration — even if it made him "look constipated.

The filming of The Challenge Season 41 has concluded, and several individuals have won the top prizes for men and women.

While many fans celebrated the return of Ashley Mitchell to The Challenge: All Stars, some are ready to see her go.

The two-time winner, also known as “Millionaire” Mitchell, arrived on the fifth season of the spinoff, Rivals.

She teamed up with a castmate she’s formerly feuded with, Aneesa Ferreira, to get to another final and win the whole thing.

However, their rivalry has already caused complications for them after Ashley became offended by her teammate’s jokes about her to castmates.

A sneak peek of Episode 4 features the pair having a private conversation to sort out their differences.

However, many fans reacted by suggesting that both castmates should have apologized.

Recent remarks from Cory Wharton and Paulie Calafiore blasted many of the All Stars Rivals cast members after seeing them in action- or their inaction.

As of this writing, only two episodes of All Stars 5 have aired on MTV. Episode 2 featured a daily challenge involving heights.

Viewers have seen multiple cast members struggle to participate in those tasks, including OGs Katie Cooley and Darrell Taylor.

During the recent premiere, host Tj Lavin welcomed her back, although he didn’t mention her mysterious exit from Spies, Lies & Allies.

For the show, she’s teamed up with someone she’s feuded with previously, castmate Aneesa Ferreira.

Viewers saw Ashley call out her teammate in a trailer, referring to her as a “pick me girl” who tries to be friends with everybody.

Interestingly enough, one of Aneesa’s close friends is Tori Deal, with whom she appeared on The Challenge: Battle of the Eras.

They’ll include three-time Challenge winner Veronica Portillo with Katie Cooley, Beth Stolarczyk with two-time All Stars winner Jonna Mannion, and two-time MTV winner Ashley “Millionaire” Mitchell with Aneesa Ferreira.

Johnny Devenanzio and Tyler Duckworth won for the men’s side, while Evelyn Smith and Paula Meronek won for the women.
