It’s possible that Let Us Prey peaks too early.

The title sequence is wonderfully put together. Incredible imagery of a mysterious stranger seemingly appearing out of the ocean and making his way into a sleepy little town, backed by a powerful electronic soundtrack, sets expectations for what follows to an astronomically high level. Disappointingly, the rest of the film doesn’t live up to its opening.

White Settlers is the new film from West Midlands born director Simeon Halligan (Splintered); which begins with an English couple, Ed (Lee Williams) and Sarah (Pollyanna McIntosh), who are making a change in their life, leaving the hustle and bustle of the city to move to the quiet and quaint Scottish countryside, buying a worn-out yet workable house for a good price with plans to renovate it in their own time. They move in and on their first night begin to hear noises, while in bed, coming from downstairs. Their inspections initially find nothing more than an open door but we soon find that Ed and Sarah’s home is being invaded by a number of pig-mask wearing Scottish men. The line-up for this year's Film4 FrightFest in London has just been announced – and boy, is it a doozy! Sporting a record-breaking 38 UK/European premieres and 11 world premieres, this August is going to be an exciting time in the genre calendar.

This year Film4 FrightFest will be moving from its previous home at Leicester Square's Empire Cinema to the nearby Vue Cinema (also on Leicester Square), prompting an ingenious reshuffle of the screening arrangements.

All main screen films will be presented at different times across three different screens, with two extra screens reserved for single-slot screenings of the various films hitting this year's Discovery Screens.

Film4 FrightFest 2014, returning for its 15th year, unveils its biggest line-up ever. A suitably gory new teaser one-sheet for Brian O'Malley's directorial debut 'Let Us Prey' has been unearthed. The British/Irish co-production is currently in post-production but we're certain of seeing plenty more shocks and gruesomeness along the way heading to a final official release date. The movie stars Liam Cunningham ('Game of Thrones') and Pollyanna McIntosh ('The Woman') and action takes place in a remote police station where a terrifying and influencial individual is being detained. Brit/Irish co-production 'Let Us Prey' has headed into post-production and will making a stop by tomorrow's American Film Market hosted in California. The new thriller marks the feature debut of director Brian O'Malley who helms from a script co-written by Rae Brunton (the 'Outpost' trilogy), David Cairns ('When Evil Calls') and Fiona Watson. 'Game of Thrones' actor Liam Cunningham and 'The Woman's Pollyanna McIntosh (below) both star in the feature which sees a stranger (played by Cunningham) held in a police station only to use his hellish mind-bending influences over inmates and officers. Rachel (played by McIntosh), however, is the only one able to resist.
