Revealed in Star Magazine interview, Kim's childhood dream was to become a soccer player. As a kid, he would often play until the sun went down.

Ideal type is someone who is bubbly, bright, positive, and cheerful, like South Korean actress Shin Ye-eun.

[explaining his own personality, 2019] I'm not a tsundere. I like to be friendly to girls I like, just like Lee Do Hwa (Jung Gun Joo) is in the drama (Extraordinary You (2019)). I do have a silly side like Oh Nam Joo, but except for that, we are complete opposites. I'm usually very quiet and similar to Lee Do Hwa when I'm with close friends.

[2019 interview with thoughts on resembling Gang Dong-won I've heard that before, but I don't think we look alike. I like and admire Kang Dong Won very much, but I don't think I look like him. I'm being careful. I think I have my own charming points. I want to act for a long time, so instead of being someone's 2.0, I'm trying to be Kim Young Dae who has his own colors. I'm constantly trying to find my unique side.

There was no particular trigger that got me into acting; it was more of a chance encounter that got me started.

[studying abroad, Arena Interview] I think the things I experienced while studying abroad will be well accumulated somewhere in me. I expect that those experiences will one day be expressed through acting, and I also think that that is my strength.
