Netflix’s Adolescence has been an eye-opener for many, and many more are tuning in to watch this brilliant series created by Jack Thorne and actor Stephen Graham, and directed by Philip Barantini. The series starring young actor Owen Cooper has trumped Alan Ritchson’s action series Reacher to grab the top spot in Nielsen’s charts.
Adolescence racked up 1.44B in its first full week on the streamer with its watch time increasing 59% over its debut weekend. Interestingly, the adult demographic of 35-64 makes up 56% of the audience of the series. Which further cements its impact on adults and young viewers alike. In contrast, Reacher slipped to fourth place on the overall charts with 1.13B minutes viewed. Though it’s the only other streaming original in the Top 5 along with Adolescence.
Standing between the two are Shonda Rhimes’ new series The Residence at the second spot with 1.36B minutes viewed.
