Trevor Noah in The Daily Show (1996)
Trevor Noah addresses ‘beef’ with Kanye West in backstage clip from The Daily Show
Trevor Noah in The Daily Show (1996)
Trevor Noah has addressed his supposed “beef” with Kanye West.

In a video posted to The Daily Show’s TikTok account, the talk show host fielded a question about his disagreements with West from an audience member. “Why you beefing with Ye?” Noah is asked from off-screen.

“Why am I beefing with Kanye? That’s an interesting way to phrase it because a beef has to go both ways,” Noah responded.

“It does. Genuinely it does. In my limited understanding of the world, beef has always been something that generally will happen between two hip-hop artists. I’ve was never beefing with Kanye West. I was concerned about Kanye West.”

West lashed out at Noah, who is originally from South Africa, during an appearance on the Drink Champs podcast on Saturday (15 October) with rapper N.O.R.E. and DJ Efn. He also made disparaging comments about Kim Kardashian’s ex-boyfriend Pete Davidson.

Coachella 2019: J Balvin Repped Latino Gangs Old and New in Vibrant Saturday Set
Beyoncé
Previously a guest of honor at Beyoncé’s Coachella last year, J Balvin claimed Coachella for himself on Saturday night, with a high-octane show at sundown.

While plenty of Latinx talent has graced the festival’s main stage since its inception two decades ago, the Coachella Stage has counted predominantly rock acts, like the Mars Volta, Café Tacvba, Kinky and Zoé as alumni; the shape-shifting Puerto Rican hip-hop duo Calle 13 became the first urbano act to play the stage in 2010. J Balvin not only brought urbano back to the main...

Why Isn’t Jamaican Dancehall Bigger in the U.S.?
Konshens
In the first week of May, the American music industry commenced a semi-annual tradition: singling out a lone piece of Jamaican music and sending it up the charts. 2018’s lucky winner is “Walking Trophy,” a confidence-boosting single by Hoodcelebrityy, a Jamaican-born, New York City-based singer. By early July, two months after appearing on the mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop airplay chart, “Walking Trophy” was reaching an audience of around eight million listeners a week.

“There’s one Jamaican record every two to three years,” explains the producer Jaxx (Kranium, Jada Kingdom...

DJ Megatron, the radio personality, hip-hop promoter and television host, was shot and killed early Sunday morning near his home in Staten Island, according to The New York Times. He was 32.

Born Corey McGriff, Megatron first made his name in Staten Island hip-hop circles as a promoter of local artists, something he continued during his stint as a DJ on famed New York radio station Hot 97, where he had risen from an intern to an on-air sidekick of popular personality Fatman Scoop. He had also worked at stations in Boston and Philadelphia. In recent months, Megatron had started to gain national exposure thanks to his appearances on Bet's "106 & Park," where he'd hype up the in-studio audience during commercial breaks and conduct frank — and hilarious — man-on-the-street interviews.
