Andro Steinborn began his career in entertainment as an attorney at
Studio Babelsberg and at Alexander Kluges Development Company for
Television Programs (DCTP). In 1998, he became Head of Business and
Legal Affairs at X Filme Creative Pool. When X Distribution was founded
in 2000, he also became its Head of Business and Legal Affairs. He has
overseen the production of more than 30 films among them "Run Lola Run"
by Tom Tykwer (1998), "Gigantic" (1999), "The Princess And The Warrior
(2000), "Heaven" (2002), "Good Bye, Lenin!" (2003) and "Go for Zucker"
(2005). He was also the music supervisor for all X Filme productions
from 2001 through 2006.
In 2004, Steinborn began to initiate, oversee and produce all of X Filme's international co-productions. In this capacity, he produced "Imagine Me&You", a German-UK co-production with Ealing Studios as well as "Love Life", written and directed by Maria Schrader. Steinborn also co-produced the 2007 Peace Award winning movie, "Goodbye Bafana", written and directed by Bille August, a German-French -South African co-production, shot entirely in south Africa in early 2006.
In 2006, Steinborn became managing director of newly-founded X Filme International GmbH, a subsidiary of X Filme, whose mandate is to produce and finance films for the international market. X Filme International's first project was Michael Haneke's English-language remake of "Funny Games", starring Naomi Watts and Tim Roth. Its second project, "The Countess", written and directed by Julie Delpy, starring William Hurt and Daniel Bruehl, will premiere at the Berlinale, 2009.
In 2009 Andro Steinborn founded his own production company NEU and is developing several feature length motion pictures from acclaimed directors such as Karim Ainouz, Erik Canuel, Eitan Fox, Nadav Schirman, Hermine Huntgeburth, and many more...
