Haviah Mighty Drops ‘Honey Bun/Room Service’ Music Video, Teases ‘Personal’ New Album That Will Pull ‘Emotional Heartstrings’

Haviah Mighty is kicking off 2023 with a one-two punch to your feels.

On Jan. 27, the Toronto-born, Brampton-based artist dropped her latest hit, “Room Service,” a soulful and sultry tune that hears her singing rather than spitting her signature dextrous bars. Today, she’s dropped a stunning visual experience that blends the new track and 2022’s “Honey Bun” into one cinematic journey. Watch above.

Haviah, who last year became the first woman to win the Juno Award for Rap Album/EP of the Year and was the sole Canadian artist nominated for a 2022 BET Award in the Best International Flow category, expands on the themes of love and loss in both tracks.

How Haviah Mighty’s ‘Protest’ Keeps 2020’s BLM Demonstrations Alive

Haviah Mighty had never been to a protest before George Floyd was murdered by police on May 25th, 2020. As Floyd’s death set off demonstrations around the world, though, the Canadian rapper joined the fray, simultaneously penning “Protest,” which premieres Friday with a video by Kit Weyman and Chrris Lowe. The song is off her upcoming mixtape, Stock Exchange, which drops this fall.

“They made me feel some sense of hope,” Mighty tells Rolling Stone of the protests. “I’ve never seen, in my life, that sort of support from my community.
