The hip-hop super producer has run a successful side hustle as an executive music producer on series like Godfather of Harlem (Epix/MGM+) and the short-lived ABC drama Queens, which should be best-remembered for the incredible beat Beatz made for lead single, “Nasty Girl.”

As The Hollywood Reporter previous reported, Swizz Beatz (real name Kasseem Daoud Dean) and Godfather of Harlem showrunner Chris Brancato have formalized their creative partnership. The duo also collaborated on Hotel Cocaine (MGM+) and are working together on upcoming MGM+ gang drama The Westies.

The music world is mourning the loss of the legendary singer Angie Stone, the voice behind No More Rain after she died at 63. Her daughter, Diamond Stone, who also goes by the moniker Ladi Diamond, first shared the tragic news on Facebook, expressing her grief by writing, “My mommy is gone,” alongside several crying emojis.

Grammy-nominated R&b singer Angie Stone was killed in a rollover car crash in the early morning of Saturday, March 1, at the age of 63. The “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” singer, who was also a member of the iconic hip hop trio The Sequence and sang the theme song for the hit sitcom Girlfriends, was the only fatality in the accident that involved her crew and backup singers. Stone had performed at a Mardi Gras event in Alabama on Friday, February 28. The singer and her crew had left the performance in Montgomery early Saturday morning when their vehicle “flipped over and was subsequently hit by a big rig,” Stone’s longtime manager, Walter Millsap III, told The Associated Press. According to Alabama Highway Patrol, Stone and her team’s 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van turned over on Interstate 65 around 4:25 a.m. and was subsequently hit by a 2021 Freightliner Cascadia truck.

The singer – known as a member of the hip-hop group The Sequence, the R&b group Vertical Hold and as a solo artist – was 63.

Angie‘s daughter Ladi Diamond confirmed the news and reacted in a series of posts on social media.

“My mommy is gone,” she wrote on Facebook. She noted that she was “feeling numb” and also acknowledged support that she and her family had been receiving.

“Thanks for the outpouring of love today,” she wrote. “I’m not taking any calls right now i need to decompress.”

A representative for the singer also confirmed the news with People. The outlet reported that she was involved in a crash with an 18-wheeler truck on March 1.

Angie‘s final studio album – Love Language – arrived in 2023. It was supported by singles “Kiss You,” “The Gym” and “Good Man.

Joyce Sims, whose 1980s hit “Come Into My Life” reached the Top 10 in the US and UK, has died at 63, her family confirmed. No cause of death was given.

Sims was touring in the UK as recently as this summer, and had an album released planned for later this year.

Her first hit, “All and All,” made it to number six in the US dance chart and made the top 20 of the UK singles chart. Sims also had hits with “Lifetime Love,” “Walk Away,” and “Looking for a Love.” She has also been sampled by Snoop Dogg, Angie Stone and Randy Crawford.

Sims was born in Rochester, N.Y. and lived in New Jersey with her husband, Errol, and two children. No memorial plans have been released.

Idris Elba has been cast as Macavity in the upcoming Cats movie. Elba is reportedly in final negotiations to portray the villain in the big screen adaptation of the iconic Broadway show. Macavity is known as The Napoleon of Crime and the Mystery Cat in both the Broadway show and T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, which is the source material. President Bill Clinton eulogized Aretha Franklin on Friday in an epic memorial service for the iconic soul singer, saying he was an “Aretha groupie” and playing her classic “Think!” into the microphone via his iPhone.

Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan announced during Aretha Franklin‘s funeral Friday that he has entered a motion to rename the city’s waterfront Chene Park “Aretha Franklin Park.”

“When performers from around the world come here, they are going to know this is the home of the Queen of Soul,” Duggan said of the Detroit native at the city’s Greater Grace Temple, Detroit Free Press reports. Following a grande finale show on Sunday evening, the iconic nightclub Space on the Spanish party island of Ibiza is now officially closed. The club’s final night of festivities included a performance from veteran DJ Carl Cox, who ushered in the end of an era with one last live set.

Always one to go out in style, Cox finalized his last performance at Space by playing what will be remembered as the famed club’s swan song, opting for an emotional tribute in the form of Angie Stone’s “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” to bring the thirty year old club brand to an end. It’s a fitting send off for Space as well, as Carl Cox himself was associated with the club for a total of fifteen years.
