Dan Houser, the mastermind behind Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption, is bringing his gritty storytelling to the world of comics. The Rockstar Games co-founder is launching American Caper, a 12-issue crime saga from Dark Horse Comics and his new company, Absurd Ventures, marking his highly anticipated debut in the comic book scene.
If you enjoy the depravity and chaos of GTA, this is absolutely a must-read.
Dan Houser will be joined by his longtime collaborator Lazlow (also a GTA veteran), who will serve as both producer and contributing writer on the upcoming American Caper series. On the art side, the series features the talents of Eisner Award-winner David Lapham (Stray Bullets), with finishes by Chris Anderson, colors by Lee Loughridge, and letters by Nate Piekos.
American Caper #1 is set to hit comic bookshelves on November 12, 2025. In the meantime, fans can get an early look through five released covers and an official synopsis.

In the world of video games, there are a few moments that transcend entertainment and leave their mark on players for years to come. One such moment is the death of John Marston in Red Dead Redemption 2, a sequel that turned conventions upside down to tell a deeply personal and heartbreaking tale.

Dan Houser, the creative force behind Rockstar Games’ took the road less traveled when designing the ending for Rdr 2. In a world where the usual end of a story came from defeating a “final boss” and emerging victorious, Rdr 2 delivered an emotionally charged story that had players confronting loss, redemption, and the inevitability of mortality.

There is no doubt that, right now, GTA 6 is the most anticipated game. Not only in the gaming fraternity but also in the whole world as well. However, Rockstar doesn’t seem to be too bothered about the fans’ concerns as it has been more than a year since the company provided a solid update.

It was December 4, 2023, when Rockstar announced the first trailer of the game, and since then it has been just theories and speculations, with no hint of trailer 2. Amidst this concern regarding the second trailer, we are forgetting that there is another major concern regarding the upcoming title.

Fans petition for fragrance influencer Jeremy Fragrance to be added to GTA 6 as a larger-than-life character in Vice City. Jeremy Fragrance's inclusion in GTA 6 may seem odd but his outlandish personality could fit well with the game's tone. Rockstar has a history of featuring celebrities in their games, so adding Fragrance with his large following could be a strategic move.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is already promising to show off some of Vice City's most outlandish personalities but if this petition gains more traction, it may just play host to someone who really loves fragrances. The GTA series is known for sporting casts of larger-than-life characters, ones that have become memorable for their strange antics and bizarre views of the world. Lester Crest, Big Smoke, Lazlow Jones, and Roman Bellic are just a handful that stand out from the roster but one Npc that might put them all to shame...

GTA 6 is a title everyone will be eager to play once it releases in the fall of 2025. The title will mark Rockstar Games’ next venture after its previous work took the entire gaming industry by storm.
The studio has seen a lot of success throughout the video game series’ life cycle, but the last title has upped the ante for the entire industry. However, this could end up backfiring for the studio’s upcoming title.
Former Rockstar Developer Says That GTA 6 Might Subvert Expectations
The studio’s titles inspire, innovate, and impress all at the same time. The trend began from the first game in the series, which was a game-changer, and was continued by later entries.

Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games and former writer of fan-anticipated titles like GTA 6, announced in 2021 that he had created a new studio, Absurd Ventures. According to job listings, they are now hiring for a new game that resembles Grand Theft Auto in several ways.
It’s worth remembering that when he founded his studio, Dan said he would dedicate his work to creating “weird shit from desperate people,” along with creativity and innovation in the gaming market. So, will this new project from Houser surpass the works that made him famous and well-known in the video game industry, creating a new game franchise?
Absurd Ventures is Expanding Beyond Their GTA 6-Like Project Red Dead Redemption 2 was the last game released that had Houser as a writer.
Despite the Lead Gameplay Designer position listed on the studio’s LinkedIn specifically seeking individuals to work on the creation of an “open-world action-adventure game,...

Little is known about the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6's story, other than the fact that it will return to Vice City and center on a Bonnie and Clyde-esque couple called Lucia and Jason. Given its return to one of the franchise's most iconic locations, GTA 6 would benefit from taking more elements from its previous Vice City-set games. Unfortunately, this would mean a retcon and going back on a previous GTA universe rule set by the series' developer, Rockstar.
The "3D universe" GTA stories took place across three decades, the Miami Beach-inspired 80s setting of Vice City, the 90s of San Andreas, and the then-present-day 2000s of GTA 3. Several characters crossed over between these titles, such as Catalina, who first has a turbulent relationship with San Andreas protagonist Cj, before leaving him for GTA 3 protagonist Claude, who she then also betrays at the start of that title. Despite these previous interconnected stories,...

Fans are concerned over Red Dead Redemption 2's crunch time figures.
In an interview with New York Magazine, Rockstar's Dan Houser stated that he and some members of the team were working some very long weeks in order to finish Red Dead Redemption 2.
“We were working 100-hour weeks," says Houser. He then elaborated on the incredible amount of work that goes into a game like this by stating that they even made "70 versions" the game's trailers and television commercials with the team's editors probably working on "several hundred" versions of those spots.
These comments caused some people to become quite concerned regarding what Rockstar expects of their employees. After all, we've heard quite a few stories in recent years about studios that will force their employees to endure hundreds of hours of crunch time in order to complete a project. More often than not, these hours...

Rockstar Games is teaming up with Facebook to provide in-stream rewards on its After Hours Live Stream Series, according to a news release.
The series will start Friday, and the premiere stream will be hosted by radio personality Lazlow Jones (who is also known for his in-game counterpart in the “Grand Theft Auto” series), along with others from the Rockstar Broadcast Team and “all-star” Facebook Gaming creators. You can watch it over on Rockstar’s official Facebook page.
The hosts will be showing off the new After Hours update, released Tuesday for “GTA Online.” In the new update, the objective is to make the hottest nightclub in Los Santos, with the help of recurring character Gay Tony. The nightclub serves as a front for Tony’s less-than-legal activities primarily, but that’s no reason to not make sure the venue is “packed to the rafters all day and all night” according to Rockstar.

Factoring in that a large portion of the Grand Theft Auto franchise deals with gangs in an attempted surreally realistic manner, it makes sense that Rockstar wants the dialogue to come across natural and authentic. Game producer Lazlow Jones revealed some aspects to Wgn Chicago today though that showcased just how serious the insanely ambitious development studio was in achieving an astonishing level of authenticity with its gangster related dialogue. Real life gangsters walking the streets today were brought on board to lend their voice and imput on the latest installment in the world renowned crime saga.
There’s black gangs, there’s Latino gangs, and we recruited a guy who gets gang members, like actual gang members, real gang members. I mean, El Salvadorian gang dudes with amazing tattoos and one of which literally had gotten out of prison the day before. And we brought these guys in to record the gang characters because,...
