Adam Scott's Boy Meets World Role, Explained
Image
Before his Emmy Award nomination for "Severance" (the mind-bending second season of which is currently underway on Apple TV+) playing a man who literally splits his working and personal lives, or starring on the beloved sitcom "Parks & Recreation," Adam Scott was one of several guest stars on "Boy Meets World" who went on to make it big. The ABC sitcom was part of the popular T.G.I.F. Friday night programming from 1993-2000 before re-running on the Disney Channel and ABC Family. "Boy Meets World" follows a neurotic 11-year-old through his school years as he navigates becoming a better person with the help of his wise teacher Mr. Feeny, a romantic relationship with his one true love Topanga, and social class differences with his best buddy Shawn.

"Boy Meets World" was one of Adam Scott's first acting jobs, and even though his role as the high school bully Griff Hawkins was brief,...

‘Boy Meets World’ Turns 30: The 18 Best Episodes
Image
On September 24, 1993, “Boy Meets World” premiered on ABC.

If that sentence made you feel old, take a quick moment to use your retinol and also maybe start exploring how to make a will.

Done? Welcome back. The family sitcom starred Ben Savage as Cory Matthews, an average American boy just trying to make it through the day with the help of mischievous best friend Shawn (Rider Strong), childhood sweetheart Topanga (Danielle Fishel), sweet if slightly insane older brother Eric (Will Friedle), and wise mentor George Feeny (William Daniels). “Boy Meets World” ran for seven seasons on ABC and enjoyed exuberant reruns in syndication on Disney Channel and ABC Family.

30 years since its debut, the show created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly might be more popular than ever, thanks to Strong, Fishel, and Friedle recapping the series on “Pod Meets World,” which recently hit 20 million downloads across platforms. An iHeart...

How Looking Back at ‘Boy Meets World’ Allowed Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle and Rider Strong to Move Forward
Image
Will Friedle isn’t the type of person to answer his phone while at a lunch — especially at a work lunch. In fact, he may have better manners than anyone I’ve ever met. But this was an exception.

We’d been sitting for about 10 minutes — Friedle, Danielle Fishel, Rider Strong and me — gathered around a corner booth in a Studio City restaurant.

“Oh, my gosh, I’m sorry, I have to take this,” he says after pulling his iPhone out of his pocket. He quickly turns it around, showing the group the names that are scrolling across the screen: “Bill & Bonnie Daniels.”

It was just a check in from Mr. (and Mrs.) Feeny and no, it wasn’t a planned call. It was simply an example of how most (more on that later) of this cast is actually still close.

“As a blanket statement, ‘Boy Meets World’ is an...

Adam Scott Recalls Inexplicable Snub While Filming Boy Meets World
Image
Adam Scott recalls an inexplicable snub during his time as a new and young actor filming Boy Meets World. A coming-of-age sitcom that helped define its era and teen culture overall, Boy Meets World ran for seven seasons from 1993 to 2000. The iconic show followed central protagonist Cory Matthews (Ben Savage) from adolescence to adulthood, ending with Cory’s departure from Philadelphia to intern in New York. The show later spawned the sequel series Girl Meets World, which featured both Cory and Danielle Fishel’s Topanga Matthews as the lead character’s parents, and ran from 2014 to 2017 on Disney Channel.

Scott, who starred in four episodes of Boy Meets World, shares on Pod Meets World how he was snubbed by Rider Strong, who portrayed Shawn Hunter in the series.

Guess how many times they say the word 'world' in the 'Girl Meets World' pilot
Danielle Fishel, Ben Savage, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong in Boy Meets World (1993)
I’m on the record as being ambivalent about Girl Meets World, Disney Channel’s highly enthusiastically ridiculously anticipated sequel/spinoff to millennial favorite Boy Meets World. (I also take full responsibility for helping to stoke that fervor for the past year and a half.) On one hand: Nostalgia! On the other: This is clearly a series meant for viewers born after the original show ended in the year 2000, and if you’re not one of them, watching it will make you feel old. The show’s bright colors, broad jokes, and earnest lessons all scream “modern-day Disney,” and it...
