As a teenager he used to give guitar lessons to make extra money. One of his students was a fellow teenager named Tom Petty.

Felder was unable to appear with Eagles at the first California Jam festival due to the birth of his first child. His temporary replacement for that gig was the group's longtime friend, Jackson Browne.

As a teenager he was in a band with Stephen Stills. Interestingly, when Stills quit the band his replacement was Felder's future band mate in Eagles, Bernie Leadon.

Joined Eagles after contributing guitar parts to their album "On the Border".

Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998 (as a member of Eagles).

Children with his wife Susan: Jesse N. Felder (B. April 6, 1974), Rebecca Felder (B. December 31, 1975), Cody William Felder (B. October 10, 1978) and Leah James. (B. November 24, 1982).
