Superheroes are rarely granted happy romances in comics. For the longest time, the likes of Superman and Batman were bachelors who could never get with the people they loved, and even after heroes were allowed to settle down and get married, their relationships never remained stable for long (Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson being the most notorious example).

While many unpopular comic couples such as Gwen Stacy and Peter Parker have since become beloved by readers, others continue to be loathed. Many of them aren't even worth mentioning, but there are other canon comic relationships that Redditors just refuse to get over.

First, about that “others” in the post title: Marguerite Sauvage drew one of the six issues collected here, Ande Parks inked the pages set on Meta, Kelly Fitzpatrick colored all of it, and several other artists contributed to the back-up stories. But Cecil Castellucci wrote all of it and Marley Zarcone drew all but the first issue in Shade the Changing Girl, Vol. 2: Little Runaway , so it’s reasonably fair to attribute it to the two of them. And it is, as you might guess, the immediate sequel to Vol. 1: Earth Girl Made Easy , by the same team, and concludes the initial arc of this comic.

First off, full confession, I have not read a single issue of this book before this one. No particular reason, but there are only so many hours in the day, and this was not a book that really registered on my radar. So why pick this up? Firstly, I love the character. I’ve been reading Barbara Gordon’s exploits as far back as the 1970’s, in various back-ups, and she was always a good character, though she endured a few mediocre adventures along the way. Obviously The Killing Joke changed things seemingly forever for Babs, and as Oracle she carved out another decent career. We’ve come full circle of course. The other reason I picked this up? I knew it was the last issue of the run, which tend to be very good, and also...

In the contrived battle between comics and TV, television (aka America’s favorite pastime) usually has the edge. But, sometimes, sometimes, comics get the drop on the old idiot box, and that seems to be the case with the introduction of new superhero character Ryan Wilder. Ryan, who will take over the mantle of Batwoman from Kate Kane in the second season of Batwoman, is a character created for television and set to be portrayed by Javicia Leslie, but, first, she will be seen in comic book form.

Per DC Comics, Ryan will appear in Batgirl #50, an extra-sized issue by Cecil Castellucci, Emanuela Lupacchino, Marguerite Sauvage, and Aneke set to hit stores and digital on Tuesday, October 27th, further integrating the brand new character into the fabric of the DC universe.

Melo & Castellucci are still killing it on Female Furies, DC's latest update of Jack Kirby's Fourth World concepts.

I know we've been over this before, but Adriana Melo is something else, man.

In Female Furies #1, there was a really hardcore Jack Kirby vibe to the art. Melo's faces especially had that Kirby smile on Heggra, with her lips peeled back off her mouth in what can only be understood as taking immense joy in someone else's suffering. That is, of course, exactly what the King wanted conveyed about the monsters from Apokalips, so well done, right?

DC sent us over a preview of Female Furies #3, and we've moved past Kirby homage and into something all Melo's own. Beautiful Dreamer (of the Forever People) has been captured by the Furies and Granny Goodness, and they're using her powers to try and wipe impure thoughts of unnatural...

I'm on the record as loving Shade the Changing Girl/Woman, writer Cecil Castellucci's last comic with artist Marley Zarcone at DC. It was beautifully weird, earnest and heartfelt and real, which is a ridiculous way to describe a book about an alien insanity vest that reanimates a dead teenager with the brain of an alien bird and learns to make friends. It was a wire to wire terrific comic that I've already gone back and reread.

I should have known that Adriana Melo was going to impress, too. She has been a quality artist since her time on Birds of Prey. And her work on Plastic Man with Gail Simone was really good. But I did not expect to get a good Kirby impression out of her!

After A Quiet Place earned $332 million at the box office worldwide with a production budget of $17 million, Paramount Pictures began development on a sequel that was recently given a May 15th, 2020 release date. It was recently revealed that the first film's co-writer/director/star John Krasinski is working on a screenplay for the sequel, and in a recent chat with Entertainment Weekly, co-star Emily Blunt and her husband, Krasinski, discussed the potential directions the next film could take.

At the 2018 Scad Savannah Film Festival, Blunt talked with EW about how although it would be interesting to take a prequel approach in the next Quiet Place movie, the next film migh instead focus on what happened after the intense events on the Abbott family farm, which was attacked by alien creatures that hunt solely by sound:

"In some ways, the idea of seeing who these people were before this all happened would be interesting,...

In this week’s issue of the newly relaunched Shade The Changing Woman, DC/Young Animal continue Shade’s latest bizarre journey, as the alien-girl is alien no longer, but struggling to find her place on Earth. It’s an issue packed with the usual dark and emotionally raw moments, but that doesn’t mean that writer Cecil Castellucci can’t find the time to take a stab at the new America President Donald Trump has helped form.

With A Quiet Place raking in more than $200 million around the globe, Paramount Pictures has announced at Las Vegas' CinemaCon that work on a sequel to John Krasinski's post-apocalyptic horror movie (read Heather Wixson's review here) is underway.

According to multiple outlets, including Variety, Paramount Pictures' chairman-ceo Jim Gianopulos announced a follow-up film to A Quiet Place at CinemaCon in Las Vegas, saying, "We’re thrilled to say that we’re already working on the sequel to A Quiet Place."

Gianopulos did not reveal who would be directing, writing, or starring in the new movie, and the extent of its development is unknown at this time.

Bryan Woods and Scott Beck co-wrote the original draft of A Quiet Place, with Krasinski working on the final draft of the film, as well as directing and starring in the movie as a husband and father trying to protect his family...

Now, John Krasinski and the production team behind A Quiet Place are making the sci-fi thriller Life on Mars. Life on Mars, not to be mistaken with the David Bowie song of the same name, is based off of a story called We Have Always Lived on Mars by Cecil Castellucci.

Life on Mars has just been announced and it isn't clear if John Krasinski will direct this time around, but he will not star in the project. Krasinski will reteam with Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller, who produced A Quiet Place. Paramount is also in discussions to pick up Life on Mars and more than likely will after the success of Krasinski's latest offering.

On the heels of a successful turn in the director’s chair, John Krasinski has found his next project behind the camera.

According to THR, he will be taking on a sci-fi film project called Life on Mars. The full producing team behind A Quiet Place is also attached. Life on Mars will be an adaptation of a short story written by Cecil Castellucci titled We Have Always Lived on Mars. Krasinski found this story and brought it to his Platinum Dunes to produce.

A Quiet Place’s John Krasinski seems to be enjoying the success as a filmmaker for his visceral horror which the film is currently experiencing at the worldwide box office. So, much, so the actor turned filmmaker is to reunite with his producers from the film to produce Life on Mars for Paramount.

It’s said that Krasinski found the story and brought it to his Platinum Dunes colleagues.

Paramount are still negotiating for the rights for the project, which is based on a short story by Cecil Castellucci. The story follows Nina, one of the few descendants of a human colony on Mars that was abandoned by Earth. She is surprised to discover that she can breathe the toxic atmosphere of the Martian surface. The crew, thinking that their attempts at terraforming and breeding for Martian adaptability have finally paid off, rejoice at the prospect of a brighter future.

The Milk Wars crossover event series is bringing the best of DC Comics and its Young Animal imprint together. It started with a clash between the Doom Patrol and the Justice League of America, it then continued with a disturbed confrontation between Batman and Mother Panic.

Presenting two real-life stories from my days of yore, although names have been changed to protect both the innocent and the guilty.

Story The First:

I knew a girl in high school – I wouldn’t say we were friends, but she was someone who had never participated in the Piggy horrors. Sally was an A+ student, on the track to an Ivy League school. Pretty (but not gorgeous) and popular (but quiet about it), she came to me one day and said that she needed to talk to me privately. I was surprised… and a bit suspicious. What did she want? But because Sally had never been overtly mean to me, even though she was part of the clique that instigated most of the callous cruelties upon me, and because I still hoped to be “accepted,” and I wanted to believe for some reason she was about to warn me...

The world was shocked this past June when a gunman entered the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida and killed 49 people and injured 53 others in the worst mass shooting in Us history. In response to this shooting, Marc Andreyko, a comic book legend, sent out a message on Facebook asking artists of all types to contribute to a comic book anthology called Love is Love. Today we have word that this comic will feature Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger and Albus Dumbledore in never-before-seen artwork.

A Nightmare on Elm Street...

Back in April, Disney and LucasFilm announced that a new series of Star Wars novels from Del Rey will be part of the franchise canon, along with the first six movies, the TV series Star Wars Rebels and the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens and its sequels and spinoffs. Today, Entertainment Weekly reports that LucasFilm and DelRey will release at least 20 books this fall through multiple publishers that will bridge the 32-year gap between Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi and Star Wars: The Force Awakens, hitting theaters December 18. The novel series is entitled Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which range from, "novels for adults and teens to storybooks and stickerbooks for younger kids," and will be "filled with Easter Eggs" foreshadowing the events of Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

I would absolutely love to get a look at the financials when it comes to what studio films make at the box office versus what they bring home in licensing. For many I'm sure there isn't all that much that comes from licensing, but when you get into today's big franchise features the story begins to shift and perhaps the largest of all-time is Star Wars. George Lucas created a merchandising empire with his sci-fi series and it is now in the hands of the only successor able to carry on as if nothing has changed, Disney. Word out of Entertainment Weekly is that Disney is already prepping a new book series titled "Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens", which will bridge the gap between Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi and the forthcoming Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens, leading up to the film's December 18 release.

Lucasfilm have announced plans for at least twenty "Star Wars"-related books to hit shelves this year. The book range, which includes adult and teen-centric novels along with story and sticker books, are said to detail events in the thirty-two year gap between "Return of the Jedi" and the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

As previously reported, Disney and Lucasfilm have started over with the franchise's official 'canon' so "Star Wars" related literature published from this point on is officially canon. Disney Publishing Worldwide executive VP Andrew Sugerman says:

"The Force Awakens is an extraordinarily, heavily guarded storyline. To track it, a lot of top-secret meetings were happening up in San Francisco as we worked through this program.
