C.W. Fallin

The Rig and Sinking Like a Stone: A Movie Review
Director: Peter Atencio.

Writers: Scott Martin, Marilee A. Benson, Lori Chavez, and C.W. Fallin.

Wow, what an absolutely dismal film. Anchor Bay Entertainment continues to distribute some of these lackluster horror titles e.g. Sharktopus, Altitude for no apparent reason. There latest disaster is more of a horror soap opera, than anything else. The Rig has an interesting premise, with elements such as: a hurricane styled storm coming in, an isolated oil rig, and creatures released from deep below. Yet, the film delivers a mish-mash of bad acting, terrible musical compositions and plot holes so big that a huge drill could not fill them in. Unfortunately, those sent to The Rig will soon be looking for their first boat back to Florida.

Several oil workers set up a new drill site, only to unleash a sea borne terror. They look much like a cheap knock off of the creatures from the Alien franchise.

William Forsythe Commands a Rig Going Down in the Gulf of Mexico: Sound Familiar?
The Rig BannerHow appropriate is this? An oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico is threatened to go down and take the oil workers in to the depths. Bp will not be getting all the publicity for oil spills as the relatively new director Peter Atencio brings The Rig to DVD in 2010, with help from Anchor Bay Studios. William Forsythe (Dear Mr. Gacy), Art Lafleur ("The Mentalist"), Marcus Paulk (Take the Lead), Serah D'Laine (Parasomnia) and Stacey Hinnen (Sharpshooter) will be those trying to stay alive as a mysterious creature goes about his/her/its business of murder. Watch out Bp there is someone even worse on the prowl.

The synopsis for The Rig here:

"As a hurricane rages outside, the small but experienced crew of an oil drilling rig settles in to ride out the storm. Isolated on the rig, their calm is short lived when a crew member...

Anchor Bay Spills Oil Rig Monster Movie in October
The Bp oil spill disaster has left me wondering how long it's going to take before we see a wave of monster movies and disaster flicks centered around the subject. The makers of The Rig may have gotten lucky that they already had a creature feature in the can about a monster loose on an oil rig because now they'll be the first out of the gate when Anchor Bay spills the film onto DVD this October.

Filmed on location aboard an actual oil rig in Morgan City, Louisiana, which right now is practically ground zero for the Bp oil washing ashore, Peter Atencio directs from a script he co-wrote with novice writers C.W. Fallin and Scott Martin with creature effects courtesy of Davis Fandino and Matt Mastrella (both AvP movies and Spider-Man 3). The venerable character actors William Forsythe (Out for Justice, The Rock)and Art Lafleur (Field of Dreams,...

Alien on an Oil Rig Gets a New Title and Trailer - The Rig
It was nearly two years ago that I first told you of a creature feature called The Platform starring William Forsythe and Art Lafleur about a crew trapped aboard an oil rig with a mutant monster. Been so long I had completely forgotten about the film until the other day when I decided to check on the status of it. At the time information was scarce. Now I find the film has a new title - The Rig, a new website, and a new trailer.

"When a tropical storm forces an offshore drilling company to evacuate non-essential personnel from the "Charlie" oil rig, the small but experienced crew left behind settles in to ride out the storm. Isolated on the rig, their routine night is interrupted when a crew member goes missing and an extensive search proves futile. Slowly, they discover that a deadly creature is stalking the crew, eliminating them one by one.
