One of Europe’s leading commercial television networks, TF1 Group, unveiled stable financial results for the first half of 2025 with €1.1 billion ($1.2 billion) in consolidated revenue, on par with last year.
The biggest source of growth for TF1 Group during the first half of the year came from digital advertising revenues, which were up 41.4% to €92 million ($106 million), bolstered by its AVOD service TF1+. That helped the overall advertising turnover of the company reach €782 million ($903 million), only down 2.5% on 2024.
In unveiling its results, the company, which includes six TV channels and an on-demand service TF1+, said it maintained its outlook for 2025 in spite of a “more challenging advertising market than expected, and with visibility remaining very limited.”
TF1 Group, however, saw its net profit fall from €96 million ($110 million) to €78 million ($90 million), a drop of 18%, during the first six months of 2025. The company blamed the drop in net profit on the exceptional surtax...

A few years ago, we got two different movies that involved a young Edgar Allan Poe investigating mysteries during his time at the Military Academy at West Point, Raven’s Hollow and The Pale Blue Eye. Now, it sounds like a young Poe will be investigating more mysteries soon, as Variety reports that Freddie Highmore – who played Norman Bates in five seasons of the TV series Bates Motel and also starred in seven seasons of The Good Doctor – is in negotiations to star as a “reimagined” Edgar Allan Poe in the prestige detective period series Augustine & Edgar, which is set in Paris during the tumultuous mid-19th century.
Gaumont is producing the series for French network TF1. This show will mark Highmore’s French-language acting debut, and Variety notes that he is “fluent in French and has said in several interviews over the last 10 years that he’d love to...

Actor Freddie Highmore (“Bates Motel”) is in talks to star as a reimagined Edgar Allan Poe in “Edgar & Augustine,” a new French detective period series set in Paris in the mid-19th century, Variety reports today.
Highmore will star opposite Audrey Fleurot, one of France’s best-known actors.
The series’ fictional story will follow “Poe as he travels to Paris and encounters Augustine, a quick-witted female detective inspired by the character of Auguste Dupin, the protagonist of three tales created by Poe.”
Dupin made his first appearance in Poe’s 1841 short story “The Murders in the Rue Morgue,” which is often considered to be the first detective fiction story. The character preceded Sherlock Holmes and Hercules Poirot.
“Edgar & Augustine” was developed by Elizabeth Kesses at Ejk Productions for over six years and is being penned by Patrick Renault, who will act as showrunner on the series.

Everyone’s tuning in to Missing You on Netflix, and with only five episodes, it’s quick to binge-watch in no time! If you found yourself hooked on this mystery thriller and are craving more of Harlan Coben’s thrilling storytelling, you're in luck.
This New York Times bestselling author has many other shows similar to Missing You streaming on Netflix. This is due to his overall deal with the streamer, which involves him adapting his books into TV shows and movies for the streaming platform. Missing You is his most recent Netflix series adaptation, but many of his other books have already been turned into shows for the streaming service.
However, that doesn't mean they're all entertaining. We would hate for you to waste your time going through the rest of Coben's collection on Netflix without knowing which ones are truly worth the binge. That's why we're about to...

Warning! This article may contain spoilers for High Potential and Hpi.High Potential, ABCs hit 2024 show, offers a thrilling remake of the 2021 French series Hpi (Haut Potentiel Intellectuel). Following the original show's template, the American version stars Kaitlin Olson as a single mother named Morgan who does maintenance work before demonstrating a knack for crime-solving that compels the LAPD to work with her. Because the two shows are so closely related, Hpi is in many ways the perfect replacement for High Potential which, as of writing, is on a mini hiatus. However, because the stories are so closely connected, Hpi could inadvertently spoil High Potential for some viewers.
As a crime series, preserving an air of mystery is vital for High Potential's future success. However, given that the original series has already covered some of the same ground, there's a chance that viewers could accidentally spoil the story for themselves.

Rodolphe Belmer, the former CEO of Canal+ Group, who recently took the helm of France’s leading commercial channel TF1, said the company looks to forge deeper ties with streaming services, including Netflix, to team on premium content.
Belmer, who was part of Netflix’s administration board from 2018 to 2022, explained TF1 is facing a dearth of U.S. content available for its primetime slots. “U.S. series are less and less available because of the vertical integration of big U.S. production companies and networks, so we have to replace the bulk of these programs,” said Belmer, who recently succeeded to Gilles Pelisson as CEO and chairman of TF1.
The French executive pointed out these U.S. shows are not easy to replace because they pulled some of the highest ratings on primetime TF1 and were “very profitable because the costs to acquire them were largely below the advertising revenues they generated.

Women at War (Les Combattantes) is a French series created by Camille Treiner and Cécile Lorne starring Audrey Fleurot, Julie De Bona, Camille Lou and, Sofia Essaïdi.
TF1 offers this luxury series in French style which is epic and heroic and tells us the story of four women during World War I.
It is a lavish production as far as scenes and atmosphere created in which we delve into chapter by chapter in a first class recreation led by four women who offer us a choral and polyedric point of view of an epoch.

TF1 detective series Hip (High Intellectual Potential) is to be remade by Disney Television Studios-backed ABC Signature in the U.S.
Distributor Newen Connect struck the deal with ABC Signature for the show that has been sold to more than 100 territories worldwide.
Work has already begun to adapt the scripts of the series, with showrunner, writing team and cast still to be announced.
Produced by Mediawan-backed Septembre Productions and Itinéraire Productions, Hip follows Morgane Alvaro, an intellectually-gifted housekeeper who becomes a consultant for the police serious crimes division in Lille.
The original series was created by Alice Chegaray-Breugnot, Stéphane Carrié and Nicolas Jean, and starred Audrey Fleurot and Mehdi Nebbou. The show was flagged as a success story by French body Unifrance in last week’s French TV export report.

France’s TF1 Group has posted a positive set of results for the first half of 2022, as Covid-19 pandemic challenges which weighed on turnover in 2020 and 2021 continue to subside.
The results followed news on the Wednesday (July 27) that the France’s competition authority had raised concerned about the group’s plans to merge with the M6 Group.
The group’s six-month report operation suggested the operation remained a key project for the coming months, noting it had spent 6.8m (€6.8m) on related expenses to date.
Talking on the margins of the results announcement, TF1 Studios CEO Gilles Pélisson said both parties remained committed to the plan but were also open to the fact it might not go ahead.
“The dream we shared is not necessarily shared by the competition authority,” he said. “On that basis, before the dream becomes a nightmare, there also needs to be a reality check, around...
