Season 3 of Yellowjackets is Tawny Cypress' favorite one to date.
"I had a really great scene partner for the whole of the season. It was a joy to work with Lauren Ambrose. We got to tell this beautiful story of love — and a little obsession," Cypress tells Gold Derby. "I think I got to do some really great acting this season. They gave me some really great material, and it was a lot of fun to play Taissa this season. It was the most fun I've had so far."
By the beginning of the Showtime drama's third season, Taissa has completely blown up her life. Having become the first state senator to "impeach herself" before taking office, she has destroyed any chance she had at a political career, and she has alienated her family to the point where her estranged wife, Simone (Rukiya Bernard), will no longer allow Taissa to see their son,...

With production currently underway in Vancouver, former “Jag” star David James Elliott has joined the show’s cast in a recurring role.
Based on the novel of the same name by author Kj Dell’Antonia and a selection by Reese’s Witherspoon‘s book club, the series stars Schuyler Fisk and Genevieve Angelson as sisters Amanda and Mae, respectively, who are reunited when the reality show, “Kitchen Clash,” comes to their town, escalating competition between their two feuding restaurants.
The series also stars Lea Thompson as Nancy, Wendie Malick as Gus, James Kot as Frank Jr., Rukiya Bernard as Sabrina and Ektor Rivera as Sergio. Margo Martindale narrates.
Elliot will portray a newcomer to town connected to Gus’ past, reports Deadline. Meanwhile, Erin Gibson has been upped to showrunner and executive producer after previously working as one of the show’s writers.

The Chicken Sisters, Hallmark+'s first original scripted series, has made its debut and, while Hallmark's core audience may give the show a chance, it's not an immediate winner.
The drama, based on the novel by Kj Dell’Antonia, follows two feuding chicken restaurants. There's Frannie's, a polished establishment that has the makings for a franchise if they just had the capital. And Mimi's, comparatively a hole in the wall that's referred to as a "shack." Some mighty good chicken is served there but the restaurant hasn't modernized.
The crux of the story centers on what happens after Amanda Moore Hillier (Schuyler Fisk) decides to apply for Ultimate Kitchen Clash, a cooking competition that pits two rival eateries against each other in a fight for $100,000. Amanda does so on a whim after yet another night being dismissed by her husband Frank Hillier Jr. (James Kot). To her surprise, Frannie's and...

With every other major player in the industry going the plus route, it seems like a perfect time for Hallmark Media to embrace the change.

Float is a coming-of-age film with a slow start, but eventually captures the audience's attention and makes them care about the characters. Andrea Bang delivers a graceful performance and helps the audience understand her character by the end of the movie. The film showcases the beauty of British Columbia through stunning visuals, adding to its appeal.
There are moments in Float when you may want to reach into the screen and somehow pull the character of Waverly aside and give her a good talking to. Can she really be this naïve? She can. And you’ll keep watching her be that way because, somehow, defying odds, Float manages to work its way into your heart. But you’ll have to wait over an hour for that feeling to fully kick in. Like taking aspirin, perhaps.
Played by Kim Convenience’s Andrea Bang, Waverly is sweet, shy, hesitant, and often infuriating.

"Can we just stay in the moment?" Lionsgate has unveiled a trailer for a romantic drama titled Float, made in Canada by filmmaker Sherren Lee. This cheesy love story is based on the book of the same name written by Kate Marchant. It's one of these "everything changed when I met this one guy" stories we've seen so many times over and over. A city girl with a life in Toronto, originally from Taiwan, rejected by her parents, makes an impulsive decision to spend the summer at a small town with her estranged aunt. She nearly drowns and is rescued by the lifeguard next door, who offers to teach her how to swim. Of course they fall in love, but will things work out? Float stars Andrea Bang as Waverly, Robbie Amell as lifeguard Blake, Michelle Krusiec, Andrew Bachelor, Rukiya Bernard, and Sarah Desjardins. This looks sweet and sappy and...

Warning: Contains spoilers for Yellowjackets season 2.
All the Yellowjackets characters have something a little out of the ordinary about them, but with his strange behavior in season 1 and his lack of presence in season 2, viewers are still left wondering what's wrong with Sammy in Yellowjackets. Sammy, Taissa, and Taissa’s wife, Simone, are all introduced in Yellowjackets episode 1, “Pilot,” as a happy family. It is not until episode 2, “F Sharp,” that it becomes apparent something is amiss with Sammy. In Yellowjackets episode 2, Sammy (Aiden Stoxx) is revealed to have drawn a series of disturbing images and taped them over his window.
When Taissa (Tawny Cypress) asks him why, he explains that it's so he can’t be seen by “the lady in the tree” who “watches him at night.” While this is later revealed to be Taissa, Sammy responds to another child insulting his mother by attacking him. Though some...

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets." It has been nice to see adult Lottie (Simone Kessell) in therapy on this season of "Yellowjackets." Specifically that it's a gentle, seemingly helpful form of talk therapy. The second season opener treated us to a grim scene in which teen Lottie (Courtney Eaton), recently recovered from the wilderness, is forced into Ect (electroconvulsive therapy) by her parents, who just want a psychiatrist to "fix her." Putting aside the fact that Ect has (thankfully) profoundly evolved past the barbaric "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" style depicted in the episode, the mere act of being forced therapy by your family is traumatizing, regardless of its type.
Obviously, though, enduring what the Yellowjackets survivors had to face out there in the Rockies took its toll. Virtually every survivor has struggled to assimilate back into the mundanity of everyday life at one time or another, and...

Spoilers for "Yellowjackets" follow.
The dual timelines of "Yellowjackets," set 25 years apart, show both how a high school girls' soccer team was stranded in the Canadian Wilderness and how they cope with that experience as adults. This structure means we already know the main cast's fate, at least to a point. In season 1, the presence of Shauna, Taissa, Natalie, Misty, and Travis in the 2021 timeline confirmed they got out of the wilderness alive. Two supporting characters in the 1996 timeline, Laura Lee and Jackie, didn't show up in the present. Sure enough, it's because they're dead.
However, season 1 ended with the reveal that Lottie Matthews (Courtney Eaton) was still alive, though she was never even mentioned in the 2021 timeline. Come season 2, she's now a regular in both timelines (played by Simone Kessell as an adult). The bigger surprise in season 2 is that Vanessa "Van" Palmer (Liv Hewson) survived too. She got...

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets."It's always been a tight race between Juliette Lewis and Tawny Cypress for the most emotionally searing performance from the adult cast of "Yellowjackets." Cypress' Taissa became the biggest success of the survivors after returning from the wilderness, creating a beautiful family with her loving wife, Simone (Rukiya Bernard), and winning a seat in the New Jersey state senate. But her dark side, which was awakened by those woods but did not disappear when she escaped them, has also caused her to fall the furthest. The near-feral state of unconscious savagery and self-division Taissa has descended to over the course of season two has broken up her family, jeopardized her career, and seriously threatened her sanity.
Nearly all of adult Taissa's scenes are hard to watch these days, which can't be said about adult Natalie's (Juliette Lewis). Sequestered at Lottie's cultish wellness compound Camp Green Pine,...

[This story contains spoilers from the fifth episode of Yellowjackets season two, “Two Truths and a Lie.”]
Yellowjackets was praised for its casting after the first season introduced characters so adeptly shared by two sets of actresses. In following the dual timelines on the hit Showtime series, the teenage Yellowjackets soccer team and the adults they become — after surviving the 1996 plane crash and 19 months in the wilderness — melded together with the teen and adult versions of Shauna (Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse), Natalie (Juliette Lewis and Sophie Thatcher), Misty (Christina Ricci and Samantha Hanratty) and Taissa (Tawny Cypress and Jasmin Savoy Brown).
The second season expanded the roster of survivors from four to six when it first introduced adult Lottie, played by newcomer Simone Kessell, in the premiere and, after a brief introduction at the end of episode four, viewers finally got to meet adult Van, played by Lauren Ambrose, when she and adult Taissa (Cypress) reunited in the fifth episode.

This article contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets" season 2.
While the promise of mysteries, criminal activity, cannibalism, and a story of survival may have gotten most "Yellowjackets" viewers in the door, it has been the complex, fascinating characters that keep folks coming back each week. The major characters of Shauna, Taissa, Natalie, Misty, Lottie, and Van have given us two different timelines to become our beloved favorites, but there are plenty of supporting characters that audiences can't get enough of, and I'm not just talking about their teammates in the cabin.
It's sincerely impressive that "Yellowjackets," a show that prioritizes the stories of women above all else, managed to make a legion of fans (many of whom are queer) become obsessively protective of Shauna's himbo wifeguy Jeff (Warren Kole). And of course, who could forget the consistent comedic relief that comes from a character like Randy (Jeff Holman), the words of wisdom...

“I think shit is going to get a lot worse out here.”
Nat (Sophie Thatcher) says this aloud to what remains of Jackie’s body the day after the starving survivors of the plane crash descend upon her charred corpse. She’s not wrong; all signs point to mounting tension and catastrophe for the group. Episode three of “Yellowjackets” Season 2, “Digestif,” grapples with the psychological fallout of their cannibalism as it’s compounded by peculiar events that suggest the land’s power grows in supernatural strength.
Unreliable reality pervades this episode for many of its central players. At the forefront of this theme is Taissa (Jasmin Savoy Brown), who struggles the most with the feast upon Jackie’s barbecued body. She has no memory of the act, and her visceral repulsion at the idea of partaking in cannibalism concerns Van (Liv Hewson). The teens decide to rally with a distraction...

Warning: The following article contains Spoilers for Yellowjackets season 2, episode 2 - "Edible Complex"There's a surprising behind-the-scenes reason for the reddish tint in the eyes of adult Taissa (Tawny Cypress) in Yellowjackets' modern-day timeline. In Yellowjackets season 2, Taissa is trying desperately to combat her sleepwalking issues after her wife Simone (Rukiya Bernard) threatened to reveal the truth about the horrifying shrine in their basement. The shrine and Taissa's disturbing behavior while sleepwalking suggest the involvement of something supernatural, and viewers may believe that this is further emphasized by the red eyes that adult Taissa appears to have in certain scenes.
However, there's a more rational explanation for the color of Taissa's eyes, which is appropriate given that there could also be a rational, scientific explanation for everything the survivors are experiencing. It's possible that after crashing into the Canadian wilderness, the teenagers have been exposed to some harmful substance, such...

Yellowjackets season 2 isn’t pulling its punches thus far. The teens finally decide to cremate Jackie’s body, but thanks to a freak snow drift it turns into a macabre barbecue where everyone except for Coach Ben (Steven Krueger) gives into their intense hunger and feasts.
Things may be a little less cannibal-y in the present, but the surviving Yellowjackets aren’t faring much better. Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) is questioned by the police about her involvement with Adam. Even though she manages to keep her cool and avoid making herself the prime suspect,...

[This story contains major spoilers from the second episode of Yellowjackets season two, “Edible Complex.”]
Now that the second season of Yellowjackets has answered the question around who the fuck is Lottie Matthews, the next biggest character question could be: What the heck is going on with Taissa Turner?
One of the biggest lingering mysteries in Yellowjackets surrounds Taissa and what can be described as her alter ego. The “other Tai” — as Tawny Cypress calls it — made a big appearance in the season one finale when the newly elected New Jersey state senator flashed an evil smile after it was revealed to viewers that she had sacrificed their family dog at an altar, seemingly in hopes of winning the race.
In the second season, younger Tai (played by Jasmin Savoy Brown) is having increasingly worrisome sleepwalking episodes in the 1996 wilderness. And present-day adult Tai, played by Cypress, just had a major dissociative episode where she imagined that her son paid her a visit.

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “Yellowjackets” Season 2 Episode 2, “Edible Complex.”]
Female friendships are complicated.
On ‘Yellowjackets,” Shauna (Sophie Nélisse) loves, envies, and resents best friend Jackie (Ella Purnell) right until her untimely death while stranded in the Canadian Rockies. She goes on to marry Jackie’s boyfriend, hold on to her old soccer uniform, and during a moment of hunger, fascination, and overwhelming guilt during the Season 2 premiere — why not all three? — ate Jackie’s ear.
Unfortunately, things only get murkier.
In Episode 2, “Edible Complex,” written by showrunners Ashley Lyle, Bart Nickerson, and Jonathan Lisco and directed by Ben Semanoff, the hallucinated Dead Jackie bit starts to grow stale (no pun intended). That’s not an indictment of the storyline but a testament to its efficacy; in the show timeline, this has been going on for Two Months — two months of Shauna rearranging her dead friend’s limbs, writing her fake journal, and getting into...

Season 2, episode 1, "Friends, Romans, Countrymen," picks up both timelines where the Yellowjackets season 1 finale left off. In 1996, the soccer team comes to terms with the death of Jackie (Ella Purnell) and the disappearance of Javi (Luciano Leroux) as winter closes in around them. Decades later, in the present day, Misty (Christina Ricci) is on the trail of the missing Natalie (Juliette Lewis), while Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) and husband Jeff (Warren Kole) continue their attempts to cover up the murder of Shauna's lover Adam.
Meanwhile, Taissa (Tawny Cypress) discovers the horrific shrine in her cellar in the present day, while in 1996, the sleepwalking exploits of her younger self (Jasmin Savoy Brown) are getting more troubling.

This post contains spoilers for "Yellowjackets" season 2 episode 1.
The first season of "Yellowjackets" produced enough speculation and wild theories to rival any television series since HBO's "Westworld." Fans devoured the first episode of the hotly anticipated second season (reviewed in incredible detail by /Film's Bj Colangelo) making it the most-watched premiere in Showtime's history. As the timeline continues to jump back and forth between the survivors of the plane crash in the nineties and their present-day selves, more dark secrets are starting to come out into the light.
So far, the adult versions of Shauna (Melanie Lynskey), Misty (Christina Ricci), and Natalie (Juliette Lewis) have been the main focal point of the show, but if the season premiere is any indication, that attention is shifting to Taissa (Tawny Cypress) and her increasingly disturbing behavior. It's already been established that Taissa falls into some type of sleepwalking trance where she eats dirt,...

It’s been over a year since “Yellowjackets” wrapped its Emmy-nominated first season and revealed the Antler Queen’s identity. In the ‘96 timeline, winter is starting to deplete the forest’s supply of hunting game. Subsequent fear breeds mystical thought and empowers Lottie (Courtney Eaton) to assume control of the group. Meanwhile, Travis (Kevin Alves) is searching for his younger brother, Javi (Luciano Leroux), who disappeared the night everyone unwittingly consumed psychedelic mushrooms.
In the present, Natalie (Juliette Lewis) has been kidnapped by members of a sect sporting the hooked-girl symbol, presumably at the behest of an adult Lottie (Simone Kessell), a cult figure we have yet to meet. Taissa (Tawny Cypress) pulls off an upset victory for a state senate seat, but her wife (Rukiya Bernard) discovers in the form of their missing dog’s severed head that Tai’s ritualistic tendencies in the face of uncertainty didn’t...

Yellowjackets returns this Sunday for another action-packed romp through the wilderness after a plane crash and the lingering effects of actions haunting survivors 25 years later.
Yellowjackets Season 1 introduced us to the girls' soccer team at the center of the story and the supporting players in their lives decades later, revealing that they may never forgive themselves for what they did to survive the crash.
The first season was addictive, becoming one of the buzziest shows around.
Yellowjackets Season 2 picks up immediately after the events of the Season 1 finale.
It's interesting that when thinking of the finale, it's the adult versions of the survivors who immediately come to mind.
Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) and her husband Jeff (Warren Kole) are navigating the murky waters of the crimes they committed separately and together -- Shauna's murder of Adam, an artist who suffered a case of mistaken identity, and Jeff's blackmailing, which is what...

Colton Haynes will be headlining a new “Ripped From the Headlines” movie for “Lifetime.” The former “Teen Wolf” and “Arrow” star will portray two crooked twin brothers in “Swindler Seduction.”
The channel also announced the upcoming movie “An Amish Sin” with Kellie Martin, Dylan Ratzlaff and Rukiya Bernard.
Premiering on Oct. 22, “Swindler Seduction” features Haynes as a con-man who fools and steals from women like Gabrielle Graham’s Louisa, à la the “Tinder Swindler.” The inspired-by-true events thriller exposes the world of the romantic con artists, with Haynes portraying a seemingly perfect angel investor and entrepreneur named Steve who eventually swindles Louisa out of thousands of dollars. When the authorities refuse to help her, she must track him and his twin down in her attempts to seek justice for herself and other women.
