  • She got the part of Sam Mitchell (the second actress to play the part) in 2002. It was her first professional acting job after leaving drama school at the age of 28. She previously worked in marketing.
  • Before landing the part in EastEnders, spent six months traveling around South East Asia.
  • She was in a near fatal car accident abroad which resulted in her breaking her leg, breast bone and shattering a few bones. (2002)
  • Coincidentally, Danniella Westbrook, the first actress to play Sam Mitchell, was also in a near fatal car accident while playing the role.
  • Is a highly skilled singer specializing in jazz, rock and ballads. She has a mezzo-soprano voice.
  • She is a music lover and wouldn't be without her CD player.
  • Was replaced by Danniella Westbrook, whom she had originally replaced, in the role of Sam Mitchell when Westbrook was signed on for a return to EastEnders (1985) after Medcalf turned the offer down (April 2009).

  • Replaced Anna Maxwell Martin as the leading role of Sally Bowles in a revival of "Cabaret" at The Lyric Theatre (April-September 2007).
  • Performed in a run of "The Vagina Monologues", alongside Shobna Gulati, at The New Victoria Theatre, Woking (February-March 2008).
  • Sang "Love Letter To Dan" in a Gala tribute to Dan Crawford at The King's Head Theatre, Islington (16 July 2006).
  • Daughter of Peter (b. 1939) and Diane M. (née Hubble) Metcalf (b. 1943).
  • Younger sister of Mark Steven Medcalf (b. 1966) and Jonathan Paul Medcalf (b. 1971).
  • Aunt of Elliot James (b. 1995) and Emily Victoria (b. 1997) via her brother Mark.
  • Gave birth to a daughter, Lily, in May 2010.
  • Returned to work 14 months after giving birth to her daughter Lily to perform in the stage production of "Crazy For You".
  • Was 5 months pregnant with her son Will when she completed her run of "Crazy For You".
  • Gave birth to a son, Will, in July 2012.
