- Yingna Wu was born and raised in a small town in southeast China. She obtained her Master's Degree in English Literature from Beijing Foreign Studies University. Yingna worked at China Global TV Network as a documentary writer, director, and producer for over a decade.
Yingna traveled extensively across China, directing documentaries on its people and social changes. Between 2012 and 2019, Yingna was based in Nairobi, Kenya, serving as the producer and chief editor for the documentary series "Faces of Africa". She produced 200 episodes across 30 countries featuring a wide range of characters from street children of Rwanda to Nelson Mandela. The content has reached millions of viewers worldwide and gained recognition from organizations including UNESCO. The show won Silver at the Telly Awards in 2018.
In 2015, Yingna directed "When Chinese Meet Zambians" garnering 2.9 million views on YouTube. in 2020, her film "The Island" won "Best Medium Documentary" at the Heritales Film Festival in Portugal.
In Dec. 2023, Yingna obtained her second master's degree in film from ArtCenter College of Design. Since Feb. 2024, she becomes a director member of the "Alliance of Women Directors" based in Los Angeles.
