J.A. Bayona’s Netflix epic Society of the Snow swept Saturday night’s Platino Awards, picking up a total of six trophies including the top award of the night for best Ibero-American fiction film.

Only 16 of the 45 passengers ultimately made it out alive as a handful of others perished on the mountain during the 72 days from the time of the crash until rescuers arrived.
Bayona also made his way to the stage to accept a trophy for best director, and his film’s haul also included best male performance for star Enzo Vogrincic, best editing for Jaume Marti and Andres Gil, best cinematography for Pedro Luque, and best sound for Oriol Tarragó, Marc Orts and Jorge Adrados.

Carrie Underwood is no stranger to lighting up the ACM Awards, and on Sunday, she did it once again when she took the stage for a special performance. Clad in a sparkly gown, the singer performed a gorgeous medley of songs from her My Savior gospel album, including "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." She was also joined by CeCe Winans for a duet of their hit "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," and the way their voices melded together was almost, dare we say, heavenly? Last year, Underwood was named entertainer of the year at the ceremony, and this year, she's nominated for video of the year for "Hallelujah" with John Legend.
Underwood's big night at the ACM Awards comes just days after she attended the Latin American Music Awards, where she performed "Tears of Gold" with David Bisbal. Check out her ethereal performance with Winans ahead.

On a recent Saturday night in May, cowboy hats of the vaquero variety filled Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre. Having acted longer than some of his “Wonder Park” cast members have been alive, Ken Jeong, who jokingly described himself as “the dumbest judge on ‘The Masked Singer’ and the dumbest guy on ‘Community,'” passed down some valuable wisdom about the entertainment industry to his young co-stars.

“Wonder Park” follows a young girl named June (voiced by Brianna Denski) who spent her childhood dreaming up a fantastical amusement park with zany rides and talking animals. After experiencing hardships and losing her creative spark growing up, she discovers the park actually exists just as she needs it most. Twelve-year-old...

I grew up with telenovelas. I lived in Mexico during my formative years, and telenovelas were appointment viewing, with my friends and I faithfully gathering after school to watch the latest episodes. They had wonderful and outlandish names and dealt with cheating spouses, long-lost siblings, lucrative business deals, and a whole lot of evening gowns worn inside the house. Through those telenovelas, we saw that we could be anything we wanted to be when we grew up: rancheras who had to keep our land away from dastardly uncles; evil stepmothers with heavy, gaudy earrings; romantic heroes with two, three, even four different love interests; nuns and time travelers and high school women. We were inspired, and our imaginations ran wild with possibilities for our future lives. Telenovelas, in all their hyper-stylized dramatic storytelling, taught me that, as a young Latina, I could be anything I wanted.

Unlike England when taking penalties, you can always rely on the top 40 charts.
Quick Overview – So last week I mentioned that the Americans were a bit late on the Rae Jepsen bandwagon but I guess I was wrong; as well as holding the top spot there for a 2nd week, Carly ‘Call Her Maybe’ Rae Jepz has also hit number one in France and Hungary this week plus moving back up the top 10 in the UK. Talking of the UK, Precision Tunes cashing in on Payphone the week prior hasn’t dampened Maroon 5′s actual chart entry as it’s gone in straight at number one with Cheryl at #2, Flo & his world-conquering Whistle down to #3 and Stooshe being decidedly demure with Black Heart at #4. Whereas The Voice UK Contestants struggled to even get top 40, the Australian charts is overrun with Voice talent. Winner Karise Eden has 4 entries in the...

It's MTV's World Cup of Rock! The World Cup is the greatest sporting event on the planet, a super-sized stage where legends are born with every strike of the ball, where infamy is just a moment away and where the dreams of millions live or die by the minute. That's why, in the spirit of the 2010 MTV Musical March Madness competition, we've created "The World Cup (Of Rock)," a FIFA-style tournament that takes 16 of the biggest nations — rock-wise (sorry Algeria) — and pits them against one another to determine just which is the most rockingly awesome. Heavyweights like the U.S.A., England, France and Germany are all here, but so are a handful of surprisingly strong sleeper countries. As the Cup progresses, we'll be unveiling the match-ups, and it's up to you to vote your favorites through. In the end, only one nation will be left standing: the world champion of rock.

Every four years, the international community comes together to decide which nation has the most dominant soccer team (or football team, provided that you live anywhere but the United States). The 2010 FIFA World Cup is upon us, and the first matches start in earnest on Friday.
Coincidentally, that's also the day that will see the launch of the 2010 MTV World Cup of Rock tournament. Just as we did with our very popular Musical March Madness matchup, we've taken a huge sporting event and translated it to the music world. And once again, it's up to you the readers to decide which country rocks hardest and best.

Every day a multitude of stars wander through the halls of MTV News to talk about their latest projects and goof around with our intrepid correspondents. But sometimes we catch stars elsewhere, and that's why we put together Spotted!, a daily compendium of stars in the wild.
Though most of the biggest stars in the universe descended on the 2010 MTV Movie Awards in Los Angeles on Sunday night (June 6), that doesn't mean that there weren't other goings-on in the celebrity world. In fact, it seemed like everybody who wasn't in the City of Angels was off enjoying some sort of international flavor. Take Miley Cyrus, who turned heads and raised eyebrows when she kissed one of her female dancers during a performance of her new single "Can't Be Tamed" on the British television show "Britain's Got Talent." Miley Cyrus is yet to slow down. After making headline with her girl-on-girl action on the stage of "Britain's Got Talent", she visited London's G-a-y nightclub and Rock in Rio Music Festival, performing the racy stunt once again during the "Can't Be Tamed" set in those gigs.
Moreover, Miley also surprised her Madrid fans when the lyrics of "Fly on the Wall" were changed from "those other guys I'm flirting with" to "those other girls I'm flirting with." Beside the two songs, she also treated concertgoers with "The Climb" and a duet with David Bisbal in "When I Look at You".
The "Hannah Montana" star performed London on Saturday night, June 5 and took the stage in Madrid, Spain on the next day. Before Spain welcomed her as Rock in Rio musical guest, the country got a visit from Rihanna, Shakira and Calle 13 among others.

Miley Cyrus makes a collaboration with Spanish singer David Bisbal on a revamped version of her new song "When I Look at You" and debuts the accompanying music video. David's performance on the beach is mashed up with footage from a music video for the song's original version.
"When I Look at You" is one of the songs appearing in Miley's first mini album "The Time of Our Lives [Walmart Ep]". It is also included in the soundtrack compilation of her new movie "The Last Song". "We listened to it and went, 'Oh my gosh, this could not be more perfect.' It describes the entire movie," so Miley said.
Based on Nicholas Sparks' best-selling novel of the same title, "The Last Song" itself has arrived in the U.S. theaters since March 31. It has Miley Cyrus playing opposite her real-life boyfriend Liam Hemsworth. Joining them in cast ensemble are Kelly Preston,...

UMG snaps up Spanish record indie Vale
LONDON -- Universal Music Group said on Thursday it has bought Vale Music, the biggest independent record company in Spain, for an undisclosed sum. The move was to bolster its strength in the global $1.8 billion Spanish-language and put it atop the market within Spain itself, the company said. The combined market share of UMG and Vale in Spain will be 26.8%, just edging current leader Sony BMG's 27.2%, according to figures from IFPI affiliate Promusicae there. The Spanish retail music market was worth about €400 million in 2005. Barcelona-based Vale was purchased from company founder Ricardo Campoy, who has grown the indie since 1997 with an artist roster that includes stars David Bisbal, Bustamente, Rosa and Chenoa.
