We’re back in Miami! On Thursday night, the Latin Recording Academy returned to Florida for its annual Latin Grammy Awards ceremony, where it’s celebrating the best Latin music of the year.

Pitbull, Anitta, Becky G, and Kali Uchis will be among the stars to grace the stage at the 2024 Latin Grammys on Nov. 14. On Monday, the Latin Recording Academy announced a second set of performers for the awards show, which includes Emilia, Grupo Frontera, Danny Ocean, Edgar Barrera, and Reik.

Other performers include the girl group Darumas, who is up for Best New Artist; Leonel García; Silvia Pérez Cruz; and Carlos Rivera. All of the performers are up for Latin Grammys this year, except Reik and Pitbull, who’ve won Latin Grammys in the past.

The Latin Recording Academy announced the nominations for the 2024 Latin Grammys — and for the second year in a row, the sought-out producer and songwriter Edgar Barrera is at the top of the pack, with nine nods for his work with artists like Shakira, Grupo Frontera, Karol G, and more. The Mañana Será Bonito era will last forever. On Tuesday night, Karol G wrapped her yearlong, 62-show tour with four sold-out shows at Madrid’s Santiago Bernabéu Stadium, with its last show streaming live on YouTube.

“If there’s something beautiful this journey left me was learning to love myself, to value myself above what others think of me, because God made me this way for a reason. This tour helped me find my purpose, and it’s to help people to feel fully themselves,” Karol said onstage before playing “Ocean” from her second album.

J.A. Bayona’s Netflix epic Society of the Snow swept Saturday night’s Platino Awards, picking up a total of six trophies including the top award of the night for best Ibero-American fiction film.

Bayona’s film follows the tragic events that take place after Uruguayan Air Force flight 571, chartered to fly a rugby team to Chile, crashes on a glacier in the heart of the Andes in 1972. Only 16 of the 45 passengers ultimately made it out alive as a handful of others perished on the mountain during the 72 days from the time of the crash until rescuers arrived.

Bayona also made his way to the stage to accept a trophy for best director, and his film’s haul also included best male performance for star Enzo Vogrincic, best editing for Jaume Marti and Andres Gil, best cinematography for Pedro Luque, and best sound for Oriol Tarragó, Marc Orts and Jorge Adrados.

The vision for the ninth annual Platino Awards is coming into focus with the announcement of the night’s musical performers.

Ana Guerra, Ana Mena, Ángela Aguilar, David Bisbal, Diana Hoyos, Gerónimo Rauch, Májida Issa, Mariaca Semprún and Monsieur Periné are set to take the stage at the Gran Tlacho theater at Xcaret Park in Riviera Maya on April 20.

Per intel from event organizers, the ceremony will feature original compositions for the occasion like one performed by Hoyos and Rauch to a score by composer Lucas Vidal. The roster of talent is meant to spotlight the richness of Ibero-American stars and music. Guerra, Mena and Bisbal hail from Spain, Aguilar from Mexico, Hoyos, Issa and Monsieur Periné from Colombia, Rauch from Argentina, and Mariaca Semprún from Venezuela. Prime Video is reviving classic Spanish talent gala format Operación Triunfo and has unveiled its latest slate of scripted shows, films and doc series from the nation along with a local version of Takeshi’s Castle.

The 12th season Operación Triunfo, which is filmed in front of a live audience, will stream on the SVoD in Spain and Latin America later this year.

A major ratings hit and cultural phenomenon, the first 11 seasons aired on Spanish public broadcaster Rtve and ran between 2001 and 2020.

The musical talent show follows a series of aspiring contestants as they enter a musical academy to train and display singing and artistic skills. Each week, in a live gala, they compete on stage.

The hottest stars stepped out for the 2017 Latin Grammy Awards to celebrate the biggest night in Latin music at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Thursday night.

The three-hour show, hosted by Roselyn Sanchez and Jaime Camil, included sizzling performances by Luis Fonsi, Steve Aoki, Alessia Cara, J Balvin, Maluma and Person of the Year Alejandro Sanz, among others.

Juanes and Luis Fonsi were among the first winners of the night, with the "Despactio" singer taking home all four awards he was nominated for, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year. I grew up with telenovelas. I lived in Mexico during my formative years, and telenovelas were appointment viewing, with my friends and I faithfully gathering after school to watch the latest episodes. They had wonderful and outlandish names and dealt with cheating spouses, long-lost siblings, lucrative business deals, and a whole lot of evening gowns worn inside the house. Through those telenovelas, we saw that we could be anything we wanted to be when we grew up: rancheras who had to keep our land away from dastardly uncles; evil stepmothers with heavy, gaudy earrings; romantic heroes with two, three, even four different love interests; nuns and time travelers and high school women. We were inspired, and our imaginations ran wild with possibilities for our future lives. Telenovelas, in all their hyper-stylized dramatic storytelling, taught me that, as a young Latina, I could be anything I wanted.

Buenos Aires, March 20 (Ians/Efe) Spanish singer David Bisbal, who is in Buenos Aires to close out his "Acustico" world tour, said Tuesday that he hopes God gives him the chance to keep singing "for 40 more years".

"I have a dream of going to various countries that I haven't visited yet and that God gives me the chance to keep singing for 40 more years," said the artist at a press conference in the Argentine capital.

Bisbal, 33, was proclaimed the Argentine capital's "guest of honour" Tuesday, a recognition that he said was "very surprising" but much appreciated.

The performer of popular songs such as "Ave Maria", "Como olvidar" and "Besos de tu boca" said that he is already planning to begin work on a new album.

The iconic Jenni Rivera will be remembered in a special tribute at the 25th Anniversary of Premio Lo Nuestro awards show on Thursday, Feb. 21.

The show’s organizers are keeping hush the list of performers who will be part of the Jenni Rivera tribute, only releasing the name of the singer’s brother Lupillo.

Rivera was nominated for five Premio Lo Nuestro awards this year including, for her Joyas Prestadas album, Pop Album of the Year. She was also nominated in the pop category for Best Female Artist of the Year and Best Song of the Year for A Cambio de Que. In the regional music category she was nominated for Female Artist of the Year and in the general category her nomination was for Artist Premio Lo Nuestro of the Year.

The death of 43-year-old Jenni Rivera has left the her family, fans and the Latino music community in mourning.

Miley Cyrus is yet to slow down. After making headline with her girl-on-girl action on the stage of "Britain's Got Talent", she visited London's G-a-y nightclub and Rock in Rio Music Festival, performing the racy stunt once again during the "Can't Be Tamed" set in those gigs.

Moreover, Miley also surprised her Madrid fans when the lyrics of "Fly on the Wall" were changed from "those other guys I'm flirting with" to "those other girls I'm flirting with." Beside the two songs, she also treated concertgoers with "The Climb" and a duet with David Bisbal in "When I Look at You".

The "Hannah Montana" star performed London on Saturday night, June 5 and took the stage in Madrid, Spain on the next day. Before Spain welcomed her as Rock in Rio musical guest, the country got a visit from Rihanna, Shakira and Calle 13 among others.

Miley Cyrus makes a collaboration with Spanish singer David Bisbal on a revamped version of her new song "When I Look at You" and debuts the accompanying music video. David's performance on the beach is mashed up with footage from a music video for the song's original version.

"When I Look at You" is one of the songs appearing in Miley's first mini album "The Time of Our Lives [Walmart Ep]". It is also included in the soundtrack compilation of her new movie "The Last Song". "We listened to it and went, 'Oh my gosh, this could not be more perfect.' It describes the entire movie," so Miley said.

Alejandro Sanz has earned his latest #1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart with his duet with Alicia Keys. Their collaboration, "Looking for Paradise," reaches the top spot this week. It already hit #1 on the Billboard Latin Pop songs and Billboard Tropical songs charts, where Keys makes her first appearance on all three. "Looking for Paradise" is the first single from Sanz's eighth studio album, "Paraíso Express," which was released to stores this week.

David Bisbal's "Esclavo de Sus Besos," from his new album "Sin Mirar Atrás," moves down to #2 this week from #1. "Te Ira Mejor Sin Mi" continues doing strongly for Joan Sebastian, who remains unmoved at #3 this week."Hay Ojitos" by Intocable moves up to its peak position at #4 this week.

It's a wrap for the 10th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. Its winners have been announced and soon afterwards, footage of its live performances by Alicia Keys, Alejandro Sanz and Laura Pausini and this year's big winner Calle 13 hit the web.

Alicia made a collaboration with Alejandro who brought his guitar during the set. The two musicians delivered a duet track called "Looking for Paradise" which is taken from his latest studio effort "Paraiso Express".

Alicia and Alejandro's performance was not the only collaborative show at the evening. Calle 13 were accompanied by Ruben Blades when performing a track called "La Perla".

Laura, meanwhile, went solo when singing her song "En Cambio No". Other musical guests at the annual event which was held on November 5 at the Mandalay Bay, Las Vegas included Wisin & Yandel, Pepe Aguilar, David Bisbal and the 2009 Person of the Year Award recipient Juan Gabriel among others.

Alicia Keys is the latest confirmed performer to join the 10th Annual Latin Grammy Awards, airing November 5th live on Univision. The twelve-time Grammy winner is set to perform her new duet with Alejandro Sanz.

Keys and Sanz will perform "Looking for Paradise," the first single off Sanz's new album, "Paraiso Express." Also recently announced as performing on the program are Mexican pop trio Reik and Daniela Mercury.

You may not know who Polito Vega is, but perhaps you'll know his friends, like Enrique Iglesias, Alejandro Sanz, and Paulina Rubio. Some of the biggest names in Latin music are coming together to perform at two Polito Vega 50th Anniversary Concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Vega, dubbed "the King of Spanish radio," is celebrating his 50th anniversary in radio with the Spanish Broadcasting System and he's lined up over 20 of the biggest latin acts for his concerts. The concerts are so big, they'll be spread out over two nights at Madison Square Garden.

The first night, Friday, August 28th, the veteran radio prgorammer will present performances by Enrique Iglesias, Paulina Rubio, Laura Pausini, David Bisbal, Luis Fonsi, Alejandro Sanz, Don Omar, Christian Castro, Fanny Lu, Gloria Trevi and more.

LONDON -- Universal Music Group said on Thursday it has bought Vale Music, the biggest independent record company in Spain, for an undisclosed sum. The move was to bolster its strength in the global $1.8 billion Spanish-language and put it atop the market within Spain itself, the company said. The combined market share of UMG and Vale in Spain will be 26.8%, just edging current leader Sony BMG's 27.2%, according to figures from IFPI affiliate Promusicae there. The Spanish retail music market was worth about €400 million in 2005. Barcelona-based Vale was purchased from company founder Ricardo Campoy, who has grown the indie since 1997 with an artist roster that includes stars David Bisbal, Bustamente, Rosa and Chenoa.
