I had the privilege recently to talk with the very talented director James Cullen Bressack. He’s becoming the Cameron Crowe of Horror directors by being a wunderkind and showing mind blowing talent as a writer and director even before he could buy his own beer. I was grateful to get some insight from him, find out what inspired him, and see what’s next. Special thanks to actor/producer/writer Zack Ward for joining in on the interview.

Ks: I know that you get this a lot, but you are a really young guy. You seem so close to the golden age of VHS, with a love for such classics as “Basket Case” and the William Lustig films, yet you are a generation removed. How did you discover them?

Jcb: I got really into watching VHS stuff. My Dad had “Hellraiser” on VHS.

When director Jan de Bont set about casting the various faces and secondary characters that populated bus #2525 in his 1994 actioner "Speed," it was very important to him that they reflect the multicultural identity of Los Angeles. Not only that, but he wanted there to be a heavy dose of realism in his choices, actors who seemed to be people you could look over on a morning commute and see reading the paper, sipping coffee, gazing out the window and starting their day. On the occasion of the film's 20th anniversary, I thought it would be interesting to track down as many of those actors as possible and tell the story of "Speed" from their perspective. Remember that movie The Lake House with Sandy Bullock and Keanu Reeves? Where they mail each other letters through time and space? This is kind of like that, but with less Keanu Reeves. A Brooklyn woman, Susan Heifetz, received a letter that her now-deceased mother had mailed 45 years ago. It was a birthday card to celebrate Susan's 19th birthday, dated June 27, 1969. Viewed through one lens, Gravity is a white-knuckle action film that breaks the barriers of physics in a way that no film has ever done before. But Gravity is also a modest but effective meditation on the frailty and resilience of the human spirit in the grander context of the universe. And Gravity is also the only force that might actually be able to pull by balls out of my throat after sitting through this gonzo, gorgeous, brilliantly executed nightmare of a film.

I did my best to avoid any writings about or promotions for Gravity before seeing it. All I needed to know was that Cuarón – who has proven himself one of the most visually innovative and emotionally engaging directors of our day with films like Y Tu Mama Tambien, Children of Men, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban – was at the helm and doing his thing.

It sucks to be Sandra Bullock and George Clooney in Alfonso Cuarón’s “Gravity”, a film that’s getting a ton of great reviews. It looks intense as hell, but then again, anything higher than my car roof gives me the willies, so you can imagine how scary it is for me to see Sandy Bullock spinning around in space with the planet Earth in the background. Heart attack, here I come! Anyhoo. Check out 24 images from the upcoming movie. Houston, we have issues. Bullock plays Dr. Ryan Stone, a brilliant engineer on her first shuttle mission, with veteran astronaut Matt Kowalski (Clooney). But on a seemingly routine spacewalk, disaster strikes. The shuttle is destroyed, leaving Stone and Kowalski completely alone—tethered to nothing but each other and spiraling out into the blackness. The deafening silence tells them they have lost any link to Earth…and any chance for rescue.

She’s been busy promoting her new film “The Heat” with Melissa McCarthy, and last night (June 26) Sandra Bullock showed up at “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”

During the course of the conversation, Leno asked the “Speed” starlet how she feels about the strong words used throughout the forthcoming flick.

Jay began, "Tell me about the language in the film—is this the real Sandy Bullock?" Bullock fired back, "Yes, the truck driver mouth is the way.”

"It's great—we have a 190 F-bombs, most of them being Melissa's, so I am chaste in that world. And then at the end I sort of learn how to…when you drop them you're just cooler, I'm cooler when I drop them."

When "Bridesmaids" director Paul Feig chose the female buddy cop comedy "The Heat" as his follow-up to that critical and financial hit, the decision surprised almost no one. Except screenwriter Katie Dippold.

"I loved 'Bridesmaids,' but I thought he wouldn't want to do another big female comedy," Dippold told HuffPost Entertainment at New York's Ritz Carlton Hotel on a recent Sunday. "But that's all he wanted to do."

Indeed it was. Feig signed on to direct "The Heat" and brought with him two high profile actresses: Sandra Bullock and his "Bridesmaids" breakout star, Melissa McCarthy. Jim Carrey's decision to withdraw his support for Kick-Ass 2 following the shooting at Sandy Hook elementary school last year has re-opened an old debate that's been around in Hollywood for decades. That is, do violent acts depicted on screen have a direct influence on reality? I write about movie trailers quite a bit. In fact, you might say I cover the trailer beat (good band name, by the way). And, believe it or not, a lot goes into my decision about which trailers to cover.

Probably the most important factor in which trailers I choose is whether I think I have anything to say about them. This sounds silly, I know, but many is the trailer that I watch and think, "Yep, that's a trailer all right, and I have nothing to say about it, so I guess I'll skip it." Which is fine, but it keeps you, the reader, from seeing the trailer (well, seeing it here anyway).

I recognize the injustice inherent in this practice. It's not fair to you, the reader. Just because I have nothing to say about said trailers doesn't mean you won't enjoy them. So, in order to give you,...

As Cougar Town begins winding down towards its season (hopefully not series, I’m staying positive) finale, "Southern Accents" begins moving the final pieces in place for the characters.

The three main stories keep pushing the characters along, as this season has done so well already. Andy thinks about running for Mayor, Bobby and Laurie try to get to the root of his racism problems and Grayson and Jules try to work on a way to fold Holly into their lives.

I fully support Andy as Mayor if only because he can supply a “come on!” in some kind of campaign speech. Plus, giving Ellie some semblance of power is the best thing that could ever happen. If her list of demands is any indication, the entire town is in for a world of Ellie, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

Not only that, Ellie would need to interact with people,...

First, let’s make one thing clear: I think I would watch a show called The Pig Trials. Particularly if the lawyers were humans and the bailiffs were horses. And I fully support any world in which the maximum sentence is bacon. But I digress. Last night’s “Southern Accents” wasn’t just about the pig trials. It was about Jules letting go of her hatred of Grayson’s baby mama Holly, and learning to accept her for who she is.

But acceptance didn’t come easy, especially after Jules walked in on Holly having a tongue party with Travis.

Actress/singer Kristin Chenoweth is considering adoption as a single mum after witnessing Sandra Bullock take on the role with such class and grace.

The Glee star, who was adopted at a young age, has yet to settle down due to her busy career, but that hasn't prevented her from thinking about starting a family.

The 43 year old tells PR.com, "If I were to have a child, I could see myself adopting a child. I've always kind of not wanted to do it alone. I'd love to have a partner that I could be a parent with. But I look at Sandy Bullock and I think that's a great example.

Last week, it was reported that Sandra Bullock had passed on the chance to star with Clint Eastwood in 'Trouble with the Curve' after negotiations stalled. Hopefully the same fate doesn't await Amy Adams. The Oscar-nominated actress has gotten an offer to appear in the new film as Eastwood's onscreen daughter, and -- if you believe Variety -- she'd basically be a fool to pass it up. Sandy Bullock takes new baby boy Louis for an artistic outing in Louisiana to mark her first Mother’s Day as a mom!

The world has been waiting to hear how Sandra Bullock spent Mother’s Day May 9, and now we know — she took adopted son Louis Bardo to an art gallery in New Orleans’ French Quarter. So cultured!

The 45-year-old Oscar winner was casually dressed when she took her 3 ½ month old baby boy out in their new hometown (with a slew of security guards in tow, of course), trying to mingle in with the other celebrating moms and kids.

Now that Louis has had his fill of the French Quarter, we advise Sandy to show him the rest of New Orleans — but perhaps she should leave Bourbon Street until he’s a little older!

A couple of weeks ago, I emailed a director acquaintance of mine to say I was off to a preview of his new film. Biker Jesse James, husband of actress Sandra Bullock, issued a statement Thursday regarding the alleged affair he carried on with Michelle “Bombshell” McGee in which he apologized to the estranged Bullock, before adding that he found Academy Award-winning actresses to be “major turnoffs.”

If ever there was a woman who didn’t deserve a cheating husband, it’s Sandra Bullock, friends of the Oscar-winner tell HollywoodLife.com off-the-record.

“Sandy Bullock is a good girl, she’s a care-taker. She is one of the most considerate people I’ve ever met,” says celebrity stylist Phillip Bloch, who has known and worked with Sandra for many years. “Even in the me, me, me career world of Hollywood, she does everything to make other people feel important. Tariq Khan (Fox News) is one of the shrewdest award scholars I know. After he generously contributed his SAG Awards predictions to this roundup we pooled from many top experts, he agreed to write up detailed explanations for the rop races. Words below are Tariq's: Film Actor: I think Jeff Bridges has it, though an upset by George Clooney is certainly possible because "Up in the Air" has been far more widely seen than "Crazy Heart." Still, Bridges is a very respected actor and even those who haven't seen the film will want to reward him. Film Actress: I went back and forth on this for hours before finally settling on Meryl Streep. The reason? She's acting royalty and Sandy Bullock isn't. And even though "Julie and Julia" may seem lightweight, comedy has a better success rate with the SAG voters (remember Johnny Depp's upset win for "Pirates of the Caribbean" six years ago?...

It’s been a good year for Ryan Reynolds. He flashed his muscles as Wade Wilson in macho superhero romp, X-Men Origins: Wolverine (honestly, was there anyone in this movie that wasn’t seriously buff? It was an 107-minute long reminder to hit the gym), got to goof around and show his comedy chops with Sandra Bullock in the massive rom-com, The Proposal and then dialed it down in indie favourite, Adventureland. An impressive trio. And so it’s to Mr Scarlett Johansson that we’re looking to for today’s fashion fix and namely his Loomstate zip military jacket as seen when playing Andrew Paxton opposite lady of the moment, double Golden Globe nominee, Sandy Bullock.

The Blind Side rose to No 1 in its third weekend on release, giving Sandra Bullock her second box-office chart-topper this year

It's rare that a movie climbs up to No 1 in its third weekend, so hats off to The Blind Side for pulling it off. True to its name, Warner Bros' true-life drama snuck up and slipped past Summit's leviathan New Moon, adding an estimated $20.4m (£12.4m) to boost its running total to $129.3m. Sandra Bullock plays the mentor of a homeless African-American kid who helps him become an accomplished American footballer. Now there's talk of an Oscar nomination. With the five most likely contenders at this stage being Helen Mirren (The Last Station) Carey Mulligan (An Education), Meryl Streep (Julie & Julia), Gabourey Sidibe (Precious) and Abbie Cornish (Bright Star), Sandy Bullock has a shot. The comics Twitterverse was still lining up for "Ninja Assassin" this Thanksgiving weekend — save Rob Liefeld, who caught "The Blind Side." Brian Michael Bendis, meanwhile, was caught searching for his "Star Trek" DVD, which he claims has been stolen by Mike Oeming.

There's no need to linger over the awfulness of All About Steve - my review was short but to the point. (The movie was shot in 2007, before Bradley Cooper became famous as That Cute Guy from The Hangover; you know the title wasn't being kept on the shelf just so it could age like a fine wine.) But it's worth talking a bit about what might have led Sandra Bullock -- who not only stars, but also produced the misbegotten comedy -- to have miscalculated so badly about what kind of project best suits her abundant strengths. I'd feel more comfortable talking about the popular Bullock brand if it didn't suggest she was a Chiquita banana or a Kleenex tissue.
