Before The Old Guard 2, Charlize Theron Faced 5 Major Controversies
Image
Charlize Theron has long been a commanding figure in Hollywood, known for her fearless performances in films like Monster, Mad Max: Fury Road, Atomic Blonde and series like Arrested Development. However, when it comes to the action genre, it is role as Andromache of Scythia (Andy) in The Old Guard (2020) that helped solidified her as a powerhouse in the genre, blending grit with emotional depth.

Now, after years of waiting, The Old Guard 2 set to premiere on Netflix on July 2, 2025. Theron will return as her fan favorite character Andy, now mortal, facing a vengeful immortal foe, Discord (Uma Thurman), in a high-stakes mission. Directed by Victoria Mahoney from a screenplay by Greg Rucka, the film will feature returning cast members like KiKi Layne and Chiwetel Ejiofor alongside newcomers Henry Golding and Thurman.

While the sequel promises to be a delectable watch with intense action and intricate character dynamics, Theron...

Mission, UEFA: Tom Cruise Joining David Beckham Live For Champions League Final On Paramount+
Image
Exclusive: Is it just two mates sitting around watching the UEFA Champions League final on a summer Saturday, or is it Tom Cruise and David Beckham opening the gates of Paramount cross-promotion heaven?

We may never truly know the answer to that grand puzzle, but we do know that after Cruise’s Paramount-distributed Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning shattered franchise records in its Memorial Day opening weekend, the four-time Oscar nominee will be live onscreen with the former England captain and Inter Miami co-owner for Paramount+’s Beckham & Friends Live on Saturday to watch Paris Saint-Germain play Inter Milan.

It will come just a few weeks after Cruise celebrated at Beckham’s star-studded 50th birthday party in London, and represents a big get for Beckham’s latest big step in front of the camera.

Put it this way, with Shari Redstone looking for a regulatory sign-off on the $8 billion...

CBS Soccer Pundit Thierry Henry Swarmed By Panama Players Celebrating Last Minute Goal In Surprise Win Against Usmnt
Image
CBS soccer pundit Thierry Henry became the center of wild celebrations last night in Los Angeles after Panama netted a last-minute goal to clinch a surprise win over the Usmnt.

Henry, a legend of world soccer and best known for his time in an Arsenal and French national team jersey, was sitting pitchside analyzing the game with his fellow CBS broadcasters Kate Scott, Clint Dempsey, and Maurice Edu.

The game was tied at 0-0 and heading into its final minute when Panama forward Cecilio Waterman scored the winner. Almost instinctively, he chucked off his jersey, jumped over the advertising board, and ran over to Henry. After shouting something at the former player, he embraces him and is joined by his teammates.

The moment has been shared widely across socials. You can also see former NFL player turned-actor Terry Crews filming the celebrations at the end of the clip. Check it out below.

Worst Dragon Ball Z Movie of All Time: Even Trunks, Android 18 and Goten Couldn’t Save Bio-Broly
Image
The Dragon Ball series has some of the best anime films of all time. From the iconic Dragon Ball Z: Cooler’s Revenge to the legendary Dragon Ball Z: The Return of Cooler, many of these films have provided fans with epic battles, unique villains, and loads of nostalgia. But come on, not every Dragon Ball Z film is good, and Bio-Broly (released in July 1994) is actually one of the worst.

Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly is often regarded as the worst Dbz movie. | Credit: Toei Animation

While many fans have different opinions on what makes a bad Dragon Ball Z movie, Bio-Broly takes a lot of heat for having a dull plot, a terrible villain, and a disappointing execution. Unlike some of the others such as The Tree of Might or Super Android 13, this one just fails, even with the awesome characters like Trunks, Goten, Android 18, and Krillin making an appearance.

Image
In the past few decades, the influence of anime and manga has reached the absolute corners of the world, making almost every other individual a fan of the art form. It is slowly transitioning into the mainstream world, and much of the credit for this goes to Akira Toriyama’s Dragon Ball franchise, which serves as the epitome of the anime and manga industry.

The influence of the industry was recently witnessed when legendary football player and coach Thierry Henry talked about his favorite anime character and taunted others for not watching or reading Dragon Ball. He pointed out that Son Goku, the protagonist of the Dragon Ball franchise, was definitely one of his favorite characters.

However, at the last moment, he changed his choice and decided to go with Cobra, from the underrated Japanese manga series by Buichi Terasawa, which came out in...

The Contenders To Succeed Gary Lineker On Iconic BBC Premier League Show ‘Match Of The Day’
Image
Gary Lineker’s departure from Match of the Day has been one of the worst kept secrets in British television, but confirmation of the news today brings the curtain down on a 25-year era for the iconic Premier League highlights show.

Match of the Day is a television institution in the UK and, having averaged 2M viewers for BBC1 on Saturday nights this season, it remains an important part of the soccer schedule at time when highlights and goal clips are readily available online.

Lineker has been central to show’s continued relevance. That rare combination of accomplished former pro and world-class broadcaster, he has a loyal fanbase and the ability to generate headlines with an arch flick of his eyebrow or a knowing gag at the expense of his co-hosts.

For the most part, this has been good for the BBC and for Lineker, even if the relationship has...

In an interview, the author explained why Blue Lock focuses on the individual rather than team play and how he gave the series its unique touch. Additionally, he also revealed his favorite soccer player as a huge soccer fan.

Arsenal sign Dutch international defender Timber from Ajax
Robin van Persie
London, July 15 (Ians) Arsenal and Ajax have reached an agreement on the transfer of 22-year-old Dutch international defender Jurrien Timber to London, both clubs announced.

The two sides reached an agreement on a 40 million euros transfer fee (45 million U.S. dollars), which can increase to 45 million euros through variables, reports Xinhua.

Timber has agreed a five-year deal to become Arsenal’s second signing of the close-season after the capture of forward Kai Havertz from Chelsea for around 82 million US dollars.

Timber joined the Ajax youth academy in 2014 and made his debut in the first team in March 2020. In total, he played 121 official matches for the first team of Ajax, in which he scored six goals. He won the Dutch championship twice and the Dutch Cup once (2021). He has also been capped 15 times for the Dutch national team, with four of those coming in the 2022 Qatar World Cup finals.

Ted Lasso Sets Up A Spinoff That Could Fix Keeley Jones' Arc
Image
The following contains spoilers for Ted Lasso Season 3, now streaming on AppleTV+.

As Season 3 of Ted Lasso wraps, the series packs a lot in. For example, viewers discovered the origin of Coach Ted and Beard's friendship, which helped bring Nate back home to AFC Richmond. The impact comes full circle when Nate's play gets the team a free-kick, helping them beat West Ham and claim the second spot.

It rings in new beginnings, with the team heading to Europe's most prestigious club competition: the Champions League. However, Ted won't be there as he's headed back to America to be near his son, ending hopes for TedBecca. It does feel like the show's concluded on that note, but interestingly, Ted Lasso does set up a spinoff thanks to one key idea. And it could help fix an issue with being genuine.

Ted Lasso's Big Season 3 Cameo Was Years In The Making For Jason Sudeikis
Image
"Ted Lasso" is many things: a show about mental health, community and self-improvement, a comedy about culture shock, and a thrilling sports drama about the joys and heartbreaks of association football. When it comes to this last part, the Apple TV+ series is in kind of a weird place. You see, AFC Richmond is a fictional team, but it competes against real teams. For the most part, "Ted Lasso" stays in its own little bubble, in part because the show has its own analogs to real-life players — like Dani Rojas being heavily inspired by Javier "Chicharito" Hernández, or Jamie Tartt serving as a sort of Ronaldo stand-in, or Zlatan being a clear inspiration for Zava.

This isn't to say "Ted Lasso" is entirely disconnected from the real world. The show has plenty of references to real athletes, and there have been some stellar cameos from actual football players and pundits,...

Every Real-Life Footballer & Soccer Pundit In Ted Lasso
Image
As the most popular current sports show on television, Ted Lasso real life players include several real-life footballers and soccer pundits. The Apple TV+ series follows American football coach Ted Lasso (Jason Sudeikis), hired to lead a soccer team in England, despite hardly knowing anything about the sport. Ted Lasso is far more about teamwork, mentoring, and personal growth than soccer itself, but the way the series includes real-life cultural references and struggles associated with the sport only grows its authenticity as an incredible sports tale. Keeping up with the accuracy of real-world football culture, Ted Lasso places its starring football team into the real-life English Premier League, albeit under the fictional guise of AFC Richmond.

The Ted Lasso football club's closest counterpart is Crystal Palace Fc, which still exists in the show’s universe. Many of the show’s AFC Richmond footballers are inspired by real soccer players, such...

Thierry Henry is one of the best strikers for me, says Arsenal and France teammate Robert Pires
Image
New Delhi, Dec 30 (Ians) Legendary attacking midfielder Robert Pires regards fellow Frenchman, Thierry Henry as one of the best forwards the world has ever seen, especially during Arsenal’s Invincible season of 2003/04.

“Thierry is one of the best strikers for me. And this moment [2003-04] he was maybe number two just behind Ronaldo, the Brazilian. Thierry was an amazing, amazing player,” said Pires on the Home of Heroes show on Sports 18 and JioCinema.

Pires also believes legendary football manager Arsene Wenger is one of the finest managers in the world. “Oh, for me, Arsene is one of the best managers. I know him for a long, long time because he’s French. I’m French. I used to play for Marseille. He was in Monaco and I remember because he called me six months before I joined Arsenal and for me. Yeah, it was a great call from Arsene, from Arsenal.

FIFA World Cup: French record breakers set for semifinal with Morocco
Image
Doha (Qatar), Dec 13 (Ians) France go into their World Cup semifinals against Morocco as the favourites to repeat their place in the final from 2018, when they also won the title.

The French also reached the final of the 2016 European Championship, where they ended up as runners-up, so Didier Deschamps’s men have the semifinal experience they need to go into Wednesday’s match at Al Bayt with confidence.

Not only do the French have a great record in the semifinals, but this World Cup has seen four players set records to highlight the challenge they pose to rivals.

The first of those is striker Olivier Giroud: The AC Milan forward, who is a clear candidate for this year’s Golden Boot, scored twice against Australia to go level with Thierry Henry’s record of 51 goals for France. He then broke the record with the opening goal against Poland and...

World Cup Ratings: France Vs Poland Sets New Record For TF1
Image
With another winning performance at the World Cup, this time defeating Poland in the round of 16, the French national football team also led broadcaster TF1 to yet another ratings record for the year. An average 14.3 million viewers tuned in to see Les Bleus notch a 3-1 victory on Sunday, from the 4pm hour local time. This is the best score for all channels across 2022 and since July 2021. The audience share was 68.9.

There was a peak of 17.4 million viewers during the match that saw Olivier Giroud become France’s all-time leading goal scorer with 52 in 117 appearances (overtaking Thierry Henry’s record). Striker wunderkind Kylian Mbappé lifted his career World Cup marks to nine, including five already in this tournament.

The numbers for TF1 were well above those of the previous France matches in Qatar. And, by comparison, in 2018, when France went on to win the tournament, its round of 16 defeat of Argentina drew 12.6 million viewers,...

FIFA World Cup: Mbappe's brace helps France destroy Poland, storm into quarters
Image
On Sunday at the Al Thumama Stadium, a brace from Kylian Mbappe and a record-breaking goal from Olivier Giroud helped Didier Deschamps’ team’s cause.

Poland’s Robert Lewandowski managed to get a consolation strike in injury stoppage time from the penalty spot.

Giroud (44th minute) scored just before half-time to open the door, and Mbappe (74 and 90’+1) marched through it with two scorchers in the second half. Lewandowski (90+9) scored in the ninth minute of stoppage time to salvage some pride.

Poland, in the knockout stage for the first time since 1986 and looking for a first quarterfinal appearance since 1982, was the better team in the first half but could not convert their chances in the first while France managed to latch on to the chance to score with a minute left for the first half.

France’s goal-scoring move started with Dayot Upamecano, who gave the ball to Mbappe, 25 yards out in the inside-left channel.

FIFA World Cup: Familiar faces for Denmark defender Christensen in France clash
Image
Doha (Qatar), Nov 25 (Ians) France striker Olivier Giroud is likely to be the centre of attention when France face Denmark in a Group D match on Saturday looking to book their passage into the tournament’s last 16.

Giroud now has 51 goals for his country and another will see him overtake Thierry Henry as France’s all-time top scorer.

The big striker scored twice as France kicked off their World Cup title defense with a comfortable 4-1 win against Australia, becoming the first reigning champions to begin the following tournament with a win since Brazil in 2006.

That win, coupled with the 0-0 draw between Denmark and Tunisia, means another French triumph in Stadium 974 will see them into the next round.

The Australia game saw another addition to France’s long injury list, with Lucas Hernandez suffering a season-ending cruciate ligament injury in the opening minutes.

Lucas joins an injury list containing Karim Benzema,...

World Cup Ratings: France V Australia Scores 2022 Record For TF1
Image
Despite being plagued by injuries that knocked out some key players in past weeks, France entered the World Cup with a bang on Tuesday — and scored a ratings victory for TF1 at the same time. At home, an average 12.53 million viewers tuned in from 8 Pm local time to watch Les Bleus defeat Australia’s Socceroos 4-1.

That gave the leading broadcaster, and all of French television, the biggest audience of the year and the best since June 2021. Market share averaged 48.1. BeIn Sport, which is also showing the matches, does not communicate viewing figures.

The strong turnout is despite earlier polls which indicated that 54 of French people said they would not be watching the tournament due to the controversy surrounding host country Qatar. Several major cities and towns are not showing matches on giant outdoor screens or organizing fan zones as would normally be custom.

Tuesday night’s audience score is...

France eye winning Cup in succession to equal record of Brazil, Italy
Image
Doha, Nov 19 (Ians) It could well be a history-defining FIFA World Cup for France as Didier Deschamps and his boys aim to become only the third country ever to win successive FIFA World Cup titles after Italy and Brazil.

Being the defending champions, there will be a lot of hope from France who will be making their 16th appearance in the World Cup, a competition they have won in 1998, 2018. Barring Denmark, there is little to suggest they would be troubled much by the likes of Australia and Tunisia — the other teams in Group D — as they seek a knockout berth.

As the French national team looks to defend its title, there’ll be a bit of similarity as the group they are in is weirdly familiar to the one they won in Russia in 2018.

They have Australia and Denmark again, with Tunisia replacing Peru this time around. The Danes, though,...

Mbappe and Olivier Giroud scored in the second half in France’s convincing victory. Mbappe now has 28 goals in 58 games for France and is level with Youri Djorkaeff in 10th place on Les Bleus’ all-time scoring list.

Meanwhile, Giroud, who is about to turn 36, became France’s oldest goalscorer, and sits only two goals behind Thierry Henry’s all-time scoring record of 51 for Les Bleus, reports Xinhua. With the win, world champions France move up to third place in Group 1, with Austria sitting bottom of the group.

World Cup runners-up Croatia took over the lead in Group 1 with a 2-1 win over Denmark.

Borna Sosa put Croatia ahead in the second half, before Christian Eriksen levelled the score for Denmark.

‘Ted Lasso’ Star Brendan Hunt on Nate’s Transformation in Season 2, Teases What’s to Come for Series
Image
Click here to read the full article.

Spoiler alert for season three of Ted Lasso: There won’t be mass casualties.

“It’s not like Thanos is in it and half of us die,” co-creator, executive producer and actor Brendan Hunt jokes to THR about the show’s third and possibly — as widely speculated — final season. “Most of us, anyway, will probably still be alive.”

Hunt spoke with THR from London, where production on season three is winding down, about the Apple TV+ series’ repeat and new Emmy nominations, criticisms of season two and what’s to come for the series.

Congratulations on the repeat best comedy series nomination. I have to imagine it’s gratifying to see some other castmembers get nominated this year, along with the people repeating.

They’re all gratifying, but it’s really cool that so many first-timers are on there. The guest category, too.

UEFA To Investigate Champions League Final’s Fan-Entry Snafus That Forced Delay Of Kickoff
Image
UEFA said Monday that it was opening a formal investigation into the events that surrounded fans trying to enter the Stade de France on Saturday to watch the Champions League soccer final between Real Madrid and Liverpool.

The kickoff of one of soccer’s most high-profile games as well as a pregame performance by the Grammy-nominated Camila Cabello were delayed by more than a half-hour as fans, mostly from the English club, had trouble getting into the venue in the heart of Paris. Shuttered entry gates forced many ticketed fans to wait as many as three hours to gain entrance.

In the U.S., the CBS Sports/Paramount+ studio team of Kate Abdo, Thierry Henry, Jamie Carragher and Micah Richards were forced to stretch out their pregame show as word of the delay came down. There were reports of tear gas used at some point on the crowd outside, which were predominantly wearing Liverpool red.

Anelka: Misunderstood review – subtle portrait of an enigmatic talent
Thierry Henry in Match of the Day: Euro 2016 (2016)
From a quenelle salute to World Cup controversy, the brilliant short-fuse striker comes with baggage, and this film does a fair job with some fraught material

A galaxy of major names – including Thierry Henry, Arsène Wenger and Didier Drogba – line up to chip in their two-penn’orth on one of the great footballing enigmas of modern times: Nicolas Anelka, the mercurial boy wonder who burst out of the Parisian banlieues but will probably linger longest in the collective memory for triggering a player strike at the 2010 World Cup and flashing the quenelle salute, widely regarded as an ansemitic gesture, after scoring a goal for West Brom in 2013.

But there’s a bit more to this than your standard sporting hagiography: Anelka comes with a lot of baggage, and this film from French director Franck Nataf does its best to get stuck into some comparatively heavy material. We start at the beginning,...

Amazon Unveils Premiere League Presenting Lineup, With Gabby Logan Scoring Hosting Role
Amazon has announced that more than 40 presenters and former professionals will be part of its English Premier League lineup, with its coverage of the soccer competition kicking-off in December.

Amazon secured rights to show the Premier League in the UK last year, and will air 20 matches a season. Coverage will launch on December 3 with mid-week fixtures, before it shows 10 matches on December 26-27.

BBC presenter Gabby Logan will anchor the Sunset+Vine-produced action, alongside Eilidh Barbour — a BBC and Sky broadcaster — and Jim Rosenthal, a veteran who has covered the world’s biggest sporting events for major UK broadcasters.

Logan is already hosting weekly Amazon soccer show Back of the Net, but her presence on live coverage is still a coup for the Jeff Bezos-owned streamer. Series Mania: Freddie Highmore Talks ‘The Good Doctor,’ Arsenal, Norman Bates
Freddie Highmore at an event for The Art of Getting By (2011)
Lille, France — God, Freddie Highmore’s good at crying. There’s a scene in “Neverland,” screened at his Series Mania masterclass, where he’s acting opposite Johnny Depp. His mother has just died. Highmore sits on a park bench, clutching a notebook, which she helped as tears well in his eyes, and he tries to keep in everything but can’t.

It’s a richly calibrated performance, shame, confusion, deep sorrow all jostling in there, and Depp wisely containing his to give Highmore stage center – despite the fact that he cannot have been much more than 10 when he played the scene.

Many years later, in another excerpt highligh at the French TV festival, Highmore is crying again. It’s another crucial scene, in Ep. 1 of ABC’s “The Good Doctor,” where his central character, Shaun Murphy, makes his pitch to become a surgeon, despite autism, to a skeptical medical team.

Review: FIFA 18 (2017)
The FIFA football franchise has come a long way since its origins in the early 90s. Like any other distinguished game series, it has certainly had its ups and downs with a need to constantly innovate to stand out. It is hard for a series which comes out every year to significantly differentiate itself from each previous year’s title other than updating teams to reflect the Summer transfer window or promotions but it’s clear, however, that with FIFA 18 there has been a definite improvement and it’s the little details that improve the overall experience.

Upon launching the game the first time you are treated to a cinematic intro of the Madrid derby. Goals from Antoine Griezmann and Cristiano Ronaldo make the game 1-1. A darting run by Ronaldo is brought abruptly to an end by a heavy tackle on the edge of the box resulting in a...
