Some shows never really leave us, and Cheers was definitely one of them. For many fans, it wasn’t just a sitcom – it was a cozy corner of television where friendships grew, and regulars became family. Many tuned in just to hear the familiar cheer of “Norm!” as George Wendt walked through the bar doors. While he didn’t say much, his presence was enough to keep the viewers hooked.
Wendt’s recent passing on May 20, 2025, is a reminder of how deeply these characters and the actors behind them have become a part of our lives. While Cheers ended all the way back in 1993, there are several shows that give out the same vibe and Lol moments. So, let’s take a look at some of the most binge-worthy shows that bring out the same energy that made Cheers so unforgettable.

Match #1: Ricochet def. Katsuyori Shibata The following is courtesy of allelitewrestling.com:
Ricochet chopped at Shibata, but Shibata didn’t budge. Shibata served up a strike of his own and wiped out Ricochet with a Pk. Ricochet rocked Shibata with a springboard forearm. Ricochet sat on the mat, mocking Shibata. Shibata positioned himself in front of the very vocal Ricochet. Ricochet smacked Shibata with open palm strikes. Shibata locked on the claw and then booted Ricochet in the head. Shibata slapped the top of Ricochet’s head. Ricochet blasted Shibata with a brain buster, but Shibata came back with a German suplex. Shibata blocked a kick and applied an Stf.

Jonathan Frakes directed Star Trek: First Contact (he was nominated for a Saturn Award for this one) as well as Star Trek: Insurrection. He's since gone on to direct almost thirty episodes of Star Trek, including Discovery and Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and there's more coming with Starfleet Academy. Prolific as a director, Frakes has stayed more behind the camera than he has in front of it, and it's paid off. He knows good Star Trek (you can't really count the bad episodes like Sub Rosa from Star Trek: the Next Generation against him), and one can't help but wonder what Section 31 would have been like had Frakes been behind the camera.
Prior to writing Section 31, Craig Sweeney had written one episode of Star Trek for Discovery, which was the series third episode in its first season. That doesn't seem like enough experience to be handed the reins of a Star Trek movie.

Kaitlin Olson and Daniel Sunjata in ‘High Potential’ episode 10 (Disney/Carlos Lopez-Calleja)
The murder-of-the-week at the center of ABC’s High Potential episode 10, “Chutes and Murders,” is introduced when two little girls literally collide with a dead body. A playground slide turns into a murder scene when the girls find their passage blocked by a corpse.
Nannies reveal the dead woman is Tara Foley, also a nanny who frequents the park. The medical examiner tells the detectives a heavy blow to the head killed her. Her attacker hit Tara nearby, and then she crawled into the slide to escape. She died around 10pm, and unfortunately, there aren’t any CCTV cameras nearby.
The nannies reveal a weird guy had been hanging around the park, and he seemed interested in Tara.
Morgan (Kaitlin Olson) has been quiet during all this, but Tara’s dinging phone is driving her crazy. She puts...

So technically, there’s nothing that really captures everything that The Office was. There’s a reason why the UK version was adapted into the U.S. version and that there’s now an Australian version out there. That being said, there are some great comedies that gets to the heart of it.
The Office was more than just a workplace comedy. It brought us relationship dynamics that shouldn’t have worked, and we got to see character growth we didn’t initially think was possible. It was funny and heartfelt at the same time.
When you need something else like it, you’ll want to turn to these five shows. No, the other versions of The Office are not on the list (but they are worth watching)!

Disney is a true entertainment juggernaut that has built a reputation for producing some of the best films ever across the board, from live-action to timeless animated classics. From spelling-binding fairytales to modern takes on whimsical stories, it's rare for a Disney film not to blast off straight from release to critical acclaim and box office success. However, in the past decade, there have been a few Disney releases that haven't received the same fanfare as their iconic franchises, receiving a mixed reception when first put in front of audiences.
Part of this can be put down to the film itself, but most can be attributed to the enormous expectations and intense comparisons from Disney's best ever films that cast an unfair shadow on these recent releases. Films like Ralph Breaks the Internet, and Onward may have opened to mixed reviews, but they still hold all the weight of a Disney classic,...

Doctor Who is one of the longest-running shows in the history of British television, and as a result, many famous actors have appeared on it at one point or another. And sometimes, those actors are so good in their roles that they return to the show as another character.
Eagle-eyed fans will notice that some actors who play Doctors and Companions have appeared on the show in tiny roles before returning triumphantly as a main character. Sometimes, this recasting is even explained away in the show itself. Spotting the reused actors adds an extra level of entertainment to an already entertaining show.

Well, that was another riveting episode of “the only point of this title is to connect to the source material,” wasn’t it?
In all seriousness, the monkey is getting further away from being relevant.
However, it is worth noting that the primate who plays Driggs is quite the acting talent.
(Courtesy of Apple TV+)
Still, that’s no excuse for calling a show Bad Monkey when the titular character is only ever around to eat grapes and display how easily he can be picked up.
Then again, the absurdity of the show’s title matches the chill and casual vibes of the series.
But as fun as Bad Monkey is, that doesn’t excuse its somewhat uneven storytelling.
After A Chaotic Start, Bad Monkey Is Shaping Into A Story With Substance And Stamina.
Some shows can have a million different plates spinning in the air without any risk of falling.

Bad Monkey is that show that you can watch with your buddies and discuss theories about what may happen next every week because it’s just so gosh darn fun. I think I’ve had the most fun with episode 5 thus far, and I can imagine it’s just going to get better. From the Dragon Queen’s looks to the banter between Rosa and Yancy, there’s something in it for everybody. At the end of episode 4, Yancy is in a tough situation after Eve tells Nick to get rid of the massive guy. Single-armed Nick decided to smack the guy on the back of his head with a blunt object. Episode 5 starts right where episode 4 ended with Yancy on the floor and Nick hovering above him. This isn’t a Game of Thrones spinoff, so there’s no need to worry for Yancy’s life, but maybe a...

In the midst of World War 2, a mysterious energy source is unearthed that could reshape the global order. Sumerian Six takes us on a stealthy adventure through this history-meets-mythology setting. Developed by Artificer, this real-time tactics game casts us as members of a team racing to contain a dangerous discovery.
During the early 20th century, a British scientist named Alistair Sterling assembled a clever crew to research an intriguing material called Geiststoff. This substance, seemingly drawing power from ancient Sumerian legends, had potential for furthering scientific progress. But after an unfortunate mishap, the so-called Enigma Squad deemed it too unpredictable to toy with further.
Fast forward a few years to the rise of Nazi Germany. One of Sterling’s former colleagues, Hans Kammler, now promises Adolf Hitler control over this mysterious energy source. As head of the shadowy SS-Geistesstärke program, Kammler appears set to weaponize whatever secrets this “Ghost Power” holds.

Back in May of 2024, Netflix dropped the animated adaptation of Fujiko Fujio’s manga series, Time Patrol Bon (or T.P. Bon), and over the course of 12 episodes, the show took us on a journey through the history of humanity with Bon, Ream, and Buyoyon. Now, about a month later, Netflix has quietly released the second season of the show. And by “quietly,” I mean there wasn’t any press release or even a trailer for Time Patrol Bon Season 2—just one line on the Netflix page stating that a new season was on its way. Given the quality of the show’s animation, I am certain that Masahiro Ando and his team didn’t animate 12 more episodes in the span of a month. They probably made 24 episodes and released them in the form of two seasons. This is quite unethical, in my opinion, because it’s an ugly way of...

The first installment in a loose trilogy that includes 1967’s Entranced Earth and 1969’s Antonio das Mortes, Glauber Rocha’s Black God, White Devil nonetheless stands alone as a benchmark for the difference between polemic and propaganda. If Rocha’s Italian contemporaries Sergio Corbucci and Damiano Damiani devised the Zapata western to turn the traditional western inside out—critiquing rather than valorizing imperialism—then Black God, White Devil might be called a Lampião western, after the folk hero of Brazilian social banditry who casts a long shadow over the film. More than allegorizing third-world revolutionary and decolonial struggles, Rocha stages a mythmaking intervention into Brazilian history.
As its English title suggests, Black God, White Devil is a film of two halves, each of which slots into a separate western subgenre, and could probably satisfy as a film in its own right. Taken as a whole, though, the film incites a...

Some behind-the-scenes Brooklyn 99 secrets make so much sense given the show's hilarious and original premise. The celebrated comedy series is best known for its zany humor and improvised scenes that quickly made it a cult classic with a dedicated fan base when it aired in 2013. The witty and hilarious characters led by Andy Samberg's Jake contributed to the show's long-running success, producing 153 episodes over eight critically-acclaimed seasons.
The comedic show is also known for facing complicated issues head-on, which separated it from other procedural comedies that tend to rely on familiar punchlines and overdone antics. The show was highly original due to the acceptance of new ideas and mistakes that eventually integrated themselves into Brooklyn 99's core dynamic. For example, an improvised line from Samberg became Jake's accidental Brooklyn 99 catchphrase. It's clear that the environment and chemistry between the actors and creators behind-the-scenes is the main...

Shannon Doherty isn’t letting her ongoing cancer battle bring her down.
A week after sharing her struggles with cancer on social media, Doherty put on a smile as she went out to eat with her mother, Rosa, yesterday in Malibu this week.
The 90210 actress was initially diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2015 and has gone through eight rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatments, as well as a mastectomy. She entered remission in 2017 but revealed in 2020 that her cancer had advanced to stage 4 breast cancer. Recently, she revealed that her cancer has spread to her brain, which led to the requirement for brain surgery to remove the tumor.
Earlier this month, Doherty began a series of videos showing her time in the hospital, as she went through a Ct scan, got fitted for a mask to wear during radiation treatment and prepared for the surgery.

It's traditional for a series finale to, you know, wrap up things.
NCIS: Los Angeles Season 14 Episode 21 took a much different approach in its conclusion.
Callen and Anna's storyline took its next natural step, which was the highlight of the finale. Beyond that, almost every other storyline was left hanging.
The only way this makes any sense is if CBS announces the latest NCIS spinoff this week.
The only other possibility was that producers didn't get word of cancellation in time to rearrange the final season adequately. That doesn't seem likely, as cancellation has been possible for the past few years.
Before anything else could happen, the team had to wrap up its current gunrunning case as quickly as possible to allow time to address all the personal storylines (or so we thought).
Sam and Callen rather expeditiously got out of their threatening situation unscathed, although the Challenger wasn't nearly as fortunate.

A Brooklyn Nine-Nine backstory detail clarifies why Terry Jeffords supported season 1 minor character, Super-Dan. The police procedural sitcom comedy has a habit of providing beautiful character arcs and details within each role of the Nine-Nine to balance out the raucous humor and slapstick circumstances housed in the series. Sergeant Jeffords (Terry Crews) was afforded such elaboration throughout the show's run, and a peripheral season 1 storyline involving a rouge vigilante contributes to Terry's nearly seamless Brooklyn Nine-Nine development.
Among the evolution of Brooklyn Nine-Nine's cast of characters, Jeffords' character development is shown to be especially exceptional in season 1's "Full Boyle" episode where Terry supports the wannabe superhero Super-Dan (Nate Torrence) and his intentions to assist the precinct's looming drug investigation. At first, Super-Dan is rejected by both officers Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) and Rosa Diaz (Stephanie Beatriz) who dismiss him as a weird and wonky nuisance. However, Jeffords...

The actor who provides the voice of Mirabel in Encanto is a renowned talent (who has played other iconic roles in both live-action projects and other animation). Encanto is one of Disney’s biggest animated hits in terms of both its critical reception and the response from audiences. As the story of a quirky teenager whose family has been gifted supernatural powers that she doesn’t possess, Encanto looks at transgenerational trauma through the lens of magical realism. Mirabel made a deep connection with viewers and quickly became a cultural icon - and that was thanks to them casting the perfect voice actor, who brought this character to life.
Mirabel is a sweet, sensitive 15-year-old girl and the only member of the Madrigal family with no magical power. Throughout the plot of Encanto, Mirabel takes on the task of saving the family’s magic when their powers start to fade...

John Boyega in Breaking. Image: Bleecker Street Going into Breaking, it’s important to at least know about the tragic true events that inspired Abi Damaris Corbin’s compassionate, if not standard-issue directorial debut. The Tokyo International Film Festival closed today with a screening of “Cranky Grandfather ’s Flying House.” After the Japanese premiere of Pixar’s “Up” was over it was time for the awards. Similarly to the opening events, the closing ceremony was efficient and to the point. No drawn out speeches, stilted jokes or time wasted. Sadly, however, there was no Hugh Jackman either. And while the absence of the sexiest Aussie this side of Naomi Watts was keenly felt, the awards went off with out a hitch. Highlight of the night-the winning film in the environmentally themed competition winning a Green Globe. And said enviro-competition being sponsored by a car company, Toyota. For the full awards rundown and a mini-review of the Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix winning film hit the jump.
