Paramount+ has officially set the stage for Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight “The General” Manfredi to face his biggest fight in Tulsa King Season 3, dropping the first trailer and announcing a Sunday, September 21 premiere date.

Paramount+ has officially greenlit “Nola King,” a spinoff of “Tulsa King” starring Samuel L. Jackson.
Variety originally reported on the series in June, with Jackson set to first appear in the upcoming third season of “Tulsa King” before moving over to his own series. Paramount has now officially confirmed plot details for “Nola King,” with the official logline stating:

Looks like Nola King, the spinoff of Tulsa King, has hit a major bump. That’s right, showrunner Dave Erickson, who also wrote the pilot of the upcoming show, has stepped down from his role as per Deadline. At present, he’s busy with Tulsa King Season 3 and also leading Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown. So, with this packed schedule, he just couldn’t take on another show at the moment.
This leaves Nola King without a showrunner just as it’s gearing up for production. Now, the team behind the show needs to find a replacement fast, also giving Sheridan a chance to bring someone like Chris Brancato. He’s famous for co-creating Godfather of Harlem, a crime drama that’s smart and filled with strong characters, exactly what Nola King needs.
So, with a lead like Samuel L. Jackson and New Orleans as the setting, Chris Brancato...

Taylor Sheridan's work can be seen everywhere, from being the co-creator of the hit neo-Western drama series Yellowstone to the crime drama Tulsa King on Paramount+. Now, the writer is preparing for Tulsa King's spin-off, Nola King, starring one of the greatest actors of all time, Samuel L. Jackson. While the upcoming series is highly anticipated, production hit a major snag recently that puts a temporary dent in its timeline. According to Variety, Dave Erickson, who co-created Fear the Walking Dead, signed on as the spin-off's showrunner but had to depart due to a scheduling conflict. The series hasn't been greenlit by Paramount+ yet, but the search for another showrunner is active as the series is a high priority.
Erickson is still the showrunner for Mayor of Kingstown (joined in the second season) and Tulsa King (joined in season 3). The good news is that there are a variety of great showrunners in the industry,...

The spinoff of Taylor Sheridan’s Tulsa King is facing a major creative hiccup. Announced in June 2024, Nola King is the proposed spinoff of Paramount+’s Sylvester Stallone-led mafia drama. While the series isn’t officially greenlit, Nola King was supposed to be set up in Tulsa King season 3, with its star, Samuel L. Jackson, guest-starring in multiple episodes.
According to a report from Variety,Dave Erickson is no longer attached to the project as Nola King’s showrunner. The departure is reportedly due to a scheduling conflict, and the search for a new showrunner is actively underway. Taylor Sheridan is still attached as executive producer, along with David C. Glasser of 101 Studios.
What Dave Erickson’s Departure Means For Tulsa King’s Spinoff The Showrunner’s Departure Will Rock The Boat
The departure of its showrunner certainly throws a wrench in things for Tulsa King’s proposed spinoff series.

Tulsa King has had a real problem keeping showrunners, and the potential spinoff series Nola King seems to be having the same troubles before it has even begun.
Variety reports that Dave Erickson is no longer set to serve as the showrunner of Nola King. This is reportedly due to a scheduling conflict, and the search for a replacement is now underway. It should be noted that Nola King hasn’t yet received an official green light from Paramount+. The potential series would star Samuel L. Jackson as a prominent gangster in New Orleans. Jackson will first appear in the upcoming third season of Tulsa King, where he’ll face off against Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight “The General” Manfredi.
Terence Winter was the showrunner of the first season of Tulsa King. He later announced that he would be stepping down, reportedly due to creative differences with creator Taylor Sheridan. However,...

The Tulsa King spinoff dubbed Nola King is on the hunt for a new showrunner.
Dave Erickson, who wrote the pilot script, initially was set to run the show that would star Samuel L. Jackson. But his schedule — he’s the showrunner on the current season of Tulsa King in addition to his duties as showrunner on Taylor Sheridan’s Mayor of Kingstown — made it impossible to continue, so Nola King is moving ahead without him.
Paramount+ has yet to officially pick up the spinoff, which is expected to follow Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr., who, like Sylvester Stallone’s Dwight “The General” Manfredi, comes from the crime world. Jackson will appear in multiple episodes of Tulsa King‘s upcoming third season before headlining and executive producing the spinoff from 101 Studios and MTV Entertainment Studios.
Jackson’s Washington will go against Dwight in Tulsa before heading to New Orleans.

Taylor Sheridan’s teaming up with Samuel L. Jackson for Nola King, and the hype’s already simmering. But if Sheridan wants this New Orleans-set crime saga to truly pop, he needs to steer clear of one glaring Yellowstone universe misstep, repeating Tulsa King’s formula without fixing its flaws.
While Tulsa King had Stallone swagger, it stumbled with undercooked characters and a tone that couldn’t decide if it was gritty or goofy. With a powerhouse like Jackson leading Nola King, Sheridan’s got the perfect shot to go deeper, darker, and way sharper. Just leave the cowboy clichés and tonal whiplash behind, please.

No one has really tried to keep Taylor Sheridan down, but it seems unlikely they would be able to if they did. As well as several Yellowstone-centric shows in development, Lioness, Landman, Mayor of Kingstown, and Tulsa King, it looks like Sheridan’s dominance of Paramount+’s streaming schedules is expanding again with the latter of these shows getting its own spinoff, and bringing Samuel L. Jackson along for the ride.

The Sheridanverse is expanding... again! Yes, not content with televisual domination through *checks notes* Yellowstone, prequels 1883 and 1923, Landman, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, Lioness, and The Mayor Of Kingstown, the prolific Taylor Sheridan is now looking to dig deeper into the world of Sly Stallone crime epic Tulsa King with Nola King, a New Orleans set spin-off. And, per Deadline's reporting, Sheridan has found just the right Bmf for the job: Samuel L. Jackson.
According to Deadline, Jackson is in the frame to lead and executive produce the mooted Paramount+ series, which Mayor Of Kingstown and Tulsa King showrunner Dave Erickson is attached to write. If all goes according to plan, the idea is that Jackson will go head-to-head with Stallone's mob boss Dwight 'The General' Manfredi in Tulsa King's upcoming third season across multiple episodes, paving the way for the Pulp Fiction actor to dive into his own show off the back of that.

Samuel L. Jackson is headed to the next big Taylor Sheridan drama.
The actor is deep in talks to tackle a Paramount+ spinoff of Tulsa King.
The Hollywood Reporter first broke the news last year that a spinoff of the Sylvester Stallone hit was in the works, with former series writer Terence Winter previously noodling an idea set in New Orleans.
Sources say the current plan is for Jackson to be introduced as a guest star character in the upcoming third season of Tulsa King — which is currently in production in Oklahoma and Atlanta — and then launch his own series. Details are sketchy but Jackson is believed to be playing Russell Lee Washington Jr. who, like Stallone’s Dwight “The General” Manfredi, comes from the crime world. He will go against Dwight in Tulsa before headling down to take over New Orleans.
Production on Season 3 of Tulsa King has been underway in Atlanta and Oklahoma for a couple of months. Jackson is expected to film his episodes in July,...

Updated: A spinoff of “Tulsa King” set in New Orleans is currently in the works at Paramont+, with Samuel L. Jackson attached to star and executive produce.
Variety has learned from sources that the project, currently titled “Nola King,” will be set up by a guest starring appearance from Jackson in the upcoming third season of Taylor Sheridan’s “Tulsa King.” Exact details about the new series remain under wraps, aside from the fact that Jackson would lead the series as a character similar to Sylvester Stallone’s in “Tulsa King.”
Dave Erickson, who currently works with Sheridan on both “Tulsa King” and “Mayor of Kingstown,” will serve as writer, showrunner, and executive producer on “Nola King.” Sheridan will also executive produce, as will David C. Glasser of 101 Studios. MTV Entertainment Studios will produce.
Reps for MTV Entertainment Studios declined to comment
Jackson is one of the most celebrated actors of his time.

Season 3 of the crime drama Tulsa King is on its way, and series star and Hollywood legend Sylvester Stallone shared a new look on his Instagram.
Stallone took to Instagram last week to share a behind-the-scenes image from Tulsa King Season 3. The image features Stallone as Dwight "The General" Manfredi with his wrists restrained with zip ties. The post is captioned, "Things are getting nasty in Tulsa!"

In the comments section of the post, one of the series' newest cast members, Kevin Pollak, said, "Hey! I'm in that scene! #spoileralert." While what's happening in the image is vague, Pollak is entering the series as FBI Special Agent Musso. Some fans suspect the scene is a continuation of Season 2's cliffhanger, where Dwight was taken into custody by a group of masked men.

The fire that burns brightest is often the first to fade. That might sound poetic, but it feels eerily tailored to Taylor Sheridan right now. The man who single-handedly reshaped American television with his gritty, dust-caked vision of masculinity and legacy may already be eyeing the door—not with drama, but with the quiet fatigue of someone who’s simply had enough.
Sheridan, now 54, has built an empire from Yellowstone and its ever-expanding offshoots — 1883, 1923, Tulsa King, Lioness, Landman — and yet, despite this industrial-sized output, he has openly admitted he doesn’t see himself doing this much longer.
But while retirement looms like a restless horse at the gate, Sheridan is still galloping ahead, launching new shows, running ranches, and producing record-breaking premieres. Is this burnout in slow motion, or a man too addicted to storytelling to quit? Let’s break this down.
Taylor Sheridan eyes the exit, but not just yet?...

Exclusive: Derek Rivera (All American: Homecoming) has joined the fourth season of Paramount+’s drama series Mayor of Kingstown, starring Jeremy Renner. Filming is underway in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Rivera will play Cortez, a young, cold, and measured Colombian Sicario in a recurring role.
Co-created by Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon, Mayor of Kingstown follows the McLusky family, power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan, where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption, and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.
Renner leads the cast as Mike McLusky, the titular leader of Kingstown, Michigan. Hugh Dillon, Tobi Bamtefa, Nishi Munshi, Taylor Handley, Hamish Allan-Headley, and Derek Webster also star. Clayton Cardenas, Edie Falco, Lennie James, and Laura Benanti are also new Season 4 additions.

Sylvester Stallone might have a new title as President Trump's "special ambassador to Hollywood," but he's still sitting on the throne as the "Tulsa King." Yes, the Paramount+ juggernaut, one in a long line of Taylor Sheridan produced series, will be returning for a third season.
It makes sense that actor turned prolific TV creative has been able to create so many of these shows (considering he wrote the "Tulsa King" pilot in less than 24 hours), and yet, despite the quick script, some say "Tulsa King" may be Sheridan's best work (or at least the most entertaining of the bunch). The tale of Dwight "The General" Manfredi (Stallone) and rise from exiled New York mafia soldier to kingpin of Tulsa, Oklahoma has produced some of the funniest, strangest characters in the entire Sheridan universe. It has also helped turn the show into a hit for Paramount+, which has...
