For children of the ’90s (your recapper among them!), Sunday night was a big deal, as The CW debuted its reboot of Nickelodeon’s beloved 1993-95 game show. This time, though, the contestants are adults instead of kids; it’s essentially the 20- and 30-somethings who wanted to be Blue Barracudas and Green Monkeys in their youth, but are only just now getting the opportunity.

Olmec will have plenty to say about this. The CW is reviving the Legends of the Hidden Temple game show but, this time, adults will be competing.

The original Legends of the Hidden Temple series ran for three seasons on Nickelodeon, from 1993 until 1995, and features six teams of two kids competing against each other. The object of the game is to retrieve one of the historical artifacts in an ancient Mayan-like temple with Olmec (voice of Dee Bradley Baker), a giant stone head located at the entrance. The teams perform physical stunts and answer questions based on history, mythology, and geography. The program was hosted by Kirk Fogg.

Olmec is finally ready to pick on somebody his own size. The iconic Nickelodeon game show Legends of the Hidden Temple, now featuring adults as contestants, is being revived at The CW.

In addition to the aforementioned giant stone head, this “reimagining” of the classic series will also bring back other fan-favorite elements, including the Moat Crossings, the Steps of Knowledge and the Temple Run. The team names — Purple Parrots, Blue Barracudas, Orange Iguanas, Red Jaguars, Silver Snakes and Green Monkeys — will also remain unchanged.

We have a new trailer for The Orange Years: The Nickelodeon Story, which should appeal to just about anyone who had cable and grew up in the 90s. The documentary, as the title suggests, chronicles the rise of Nickelodeon to prominence within the pop culture landscape. This initial look at the movie should serve as a huge boost of nostalgia for those who watched these shows growing up, but it also looks to provide a better understanding of how all of these shows came to be.

Nickelodeon is planning perhaps the most significant of these, with a TV movie based on the popular 1990s game show, Legends Of The Hidden Temple – which now has a premiere date.

Originally created by David G. Stanley, Scott A. Stone and Stephen Brown in 1993, Legends Of The Hidden Temple ran for 120 episodes – each featuring six teams of two 11-14 year olds. The teams competed to find and collect artefacts in a temple filled with treasures, guarded by Mayan protectors. To succeed, the competitors would have to answer questions and undertake physical tasks. The show was hosted by Kirk Fogg, and featured narration from Dee Bradley Baker in the guise of a talking stone head named Olmec.

Chief amongst them was "Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency," the new Max Landis produced TV series take on the classic Douglas Adams book. Elijah Wood and Samuel Barnett topline the eight-episode series which follows the time-and-space-shifting adventures of eccentric 'holistic' detective Dirk Gently (Barnett) and his reluctant assistant Todd (Wood). The series premieres October 22nd.

Gotham

The new season of "Gotham" is set six months after the end of the second season with Hugo Strange's "monsters" now having been unleashed on the city and causing complete anarchy. Jim Gordon is now a monster-killing bounty hunter, Leslie Tompkins has left him, the Court of Owls are now involved, and the Bruce Wayne doppleganger is still out there and has a mission in mind.

The DreamWorks Animation reboot follows a set of teenagers who suddenly find themselves the pilots behind five robotic lions used to protect the universe from evil amid a prolonged intergalactic war.

Back in October, Nickelodeon launched a new block of programming known as The Splat, which airs episodes of the network's classic animated shows such as Rugrats, Hey Arnold! and The Ren and Stimpy Show. Earlier this week, The Splat revealed that they are also assembling a reunion of another popular Nickelodeon series, All That, with a new video that features cast members Danny Tamberelli, Kel Mitchell, Josh Server, Lori Beth Denberg and Kenan Thompson. E! Online reports that the reunion will take place on The Splat on April 16 and April 17, during a marathon of the original series.

Earlier this year, Nickelodeon fans lost their minds when the network announced plans for Legends of The Hidden Temple: The Movie, based on the iconic 90s game show. Now, it has been announced that a key figure in the original series is returning! Yes, Kirk Fogg will be back, and plays a very substantial role in the story.

Legends of The Hidden Temple: The Movie will be an action-adventure inspired by the series of the same name. On the 90s show, Kirk Fogg served as the host and guide for the contestants. His new role in the movie will pay direct homage to his former duties.

Kirk Fogg joins a previously announced cast that also includes Isabela Moner, former X-Men star Daniel Cudmore, Jet Jurgensmeyer, Colin Critchley and Ioan Sebastian Tirlui. This all-new movie is set to hit Nickelodeon in fall 2016. Though, an official premiere date has not been announced.

Legends of the Hidden Temple was a fascinating and archaeologically dubious Nickelodeon game show from the 1990s. Host Kirk Fogg led teams of contestants in a series of games that culminated with a puzzle hunt through a gigantic "temple," which was ostensibly an obstacle course with rooms themed like ancient palace ruins. The host just revealed something in a new interview: The pressure once scared a contestant into vomiting on camera.   Ugh. Imagine vomiting in the Pit of Despair, that pool of foam blocks. I can't think of a more hopeless feeling. I'd forgotten how rare it was that contestants won the show. Only eight allowed victories a season? Fogg, you traitor! ...

To this day, there has not been a game show that has topped Nickelodeon in the 90s. They had Guts, Family Double Dare, and Nick Arcade, but none of them reached quite the level of awesomeness that was Legends of The Hidden Temple. What wasn't to love? You had a giant head named Olmec quizzing you on history while you battled against other children for supremacy and a shot to enter "the temple."

Get in and out of the temple in 90 seconds (which was nothing short of a miracle) and you won a cruise for your family. Of course, it wasn't that easy. You could be kidnapped by temple guards who could only be stopped by pendents, and you had to solve super tough puzzles that most adults may not be able to solve, let alone kids! It was a show so inspiring that I have a Purple Parrots t-shirt in my closet right now.

Green monkeys! Orange iguanas! If these unnaturally occurring animal-color combinations don’t send chills down your spine, you weren’t a child of the ‘90s.

Funny or Die has posted a fake trailer for Legends of the Hidden Temple: The Movie, a would-be action flick that finds a gruff former contestant drinking away his sorrows as he contemplates returning (a la Lost) into the cruel hands of Olmec the Terrifying. “You think you’re going to be all right, just ’cause you have a guide,” muses the faded former Red Jaguar as memories of a distant Kirk Fogg appear.

It's game over for Figure It Out on Nickelodeon. The competition series has been cancelled according to host Jeff Sutphen.

Responding to a fan's question about the future of the series, Sutphen wrote, "unless your secret talent is bringing canceled shows back we will not be shooting any more episodes of #Fio #sadface"

Hosted by Summer Sanders, the Figure It Out game show ran for four seasons between 1997 and 2000. The series was revived in June 2012 with Sutphen and aired for two more seasons. The finale episode aired on July 16th of this year.

Though Figure It Out is over, Sutphen has started his own mock talk show, The Garage Show with Jeff Sutphen. The most recent episode features visits by fellow Nickelodeon hosts Marc Summers, Kirk Fogg and Phil Moore.

If you were gay and a kid in the ’90s, you were lucky to have Nickelodeon on the tube. Not only did the classic kids network dish out quirky shows that hold up well (particularly The Adventures of Pete & Pete), but it gave you bizarre, unconventional, one-of-a-kind characters who could be your friends, no matter how ridiculous or cartoonish they were. If you are a child of the early 1990s you will (probably) fondly remember "Legends of the Hidden Temple," a Nickelodeon game show.

"Legends of the Hidden Temple" ran for three years and featured contestants completing physical tasks, figuring out puzzles and answering trivia questions in an attempt to take home a top prize that varied from episode to episode. To get the grand prize, contestants had to complete the Temple Run, which was full of mazes, puzzles and the stuff of nightmares: Temple Guards.

According to SBNation.com, out of 120 episodes, only 32 teams won the Temple Run. The show featured teams of 11-14-year-old boys and girls and now one of them is speaking out. Keeli, a former contestant, spoke with SBNation.com about her time on the series.

Everyone has them: complete wastes of time. Guilty pleasures, as it were. Shows that don't necessarily add anything significant to our lives, but we can't keep from going back to them, over and over again. There's nothing wrong with them - in fact, some of them are pretty awesome. For the most part, I loathe reality television; I've just never been all that interested in any of the series. The Mole, however, had me from early on, indulging the part of me that loves spy shows and almost had a career in the CIA. I was glad to have a series where I was forced to figure out clues that actually took effort to spot and decode.

Reason No. 102,390 I wish we lived in a Simpsons-esque world where people stay the same age forever: I’d never have to look at child stars I used to love and realize how much time has gone by. This story about the stars of Salute Your Shorts particularly jarred me. Z.Z. works in ad sales. Budnick has a child(?!). And when did Donkeylips turn into Gabriel Iglesias? Ugh. I hate change.
