'Arrow' Star Katie Cassidy Reveals Truth Behind Black Canary Death
Image
Losing a dream role can still sting many years later, which appears to be the case for Katie Cassidy. The actress portrayed the fan-favorite role of Laurel Lance/Black Canary on The CW's Arrow for four seasons before she was killed off in 2016. The news of Cassidy being told about her demise wasn't exactly handled the best way, and now the actress is revealing why she believes her time on the series came to an end.

During an appearance on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Cassidy went into detail about her Arrow character being killed off and how she found out about it. News of a character's death was teased at the start of the season, but Cassidy didn't think it would be her. In a case of terrible timing, the actress found out it was her who would be meeting her end while traveling to a...

‘Arrow’ Star Katie Cassidy On Her Character Being Killed Off: “I think it was political.”
Image
Katie Cassidy faced a tough moment in her career when she learned her character, Laurel Lance, also known as Black Canary, would be killed off on the CW show Arrow. She had been part of the series from the start, appearing in its first four seasons. The news came in 2016, catching her off guard just days before the episode was set to film.

She shared her feelings on Michael Rosenbaum’s podcast, Inside of You, saying, “I had to eat some humble pie when they killed me off that show. It was really hard.” Cassidy felt a mix of emotions—sadness, shock, and even anger.

She remembered being on a call with producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg, who told her, “Listen, unfortunately I have to tell you you’re the one that’s in the grave.” That moment hit her hard, especially since she loved playing Laurel...

Arrow Star Katie Cassidy Was "Crushed" By Decision To Kill Black Canary; Believes Her Firing Was "Political"
Image
Katie Cassidy played Arrow's Laurel Lance and while her transformation into Black Canary was a little convoluted, fans embraced the character and weren't happy when she died in season 4.

That came as part of the big "Who's in the grave?" mystery that lasted right up until Damien Darhk killed Lauren in a moment that faced a significant amount of backlash at the time.

During an interview with Michael Rosenbaum, Cassidy reflected on being dropped from the series and initially not being concerned about Black Canary being in the grave when the season 4 premiere aired. However, things changed in the build to that year's New York Comic Con.

Arrow showrunners Marc Guggenheim and Wendy sent an email to the cast - shortly before they'd be filming the mystery character's death scene - and Cassidy recalled, "For whatever reason, my stomach just dropped. I immediately text Marc Guggenheim, who I adore,...

Katie Cassidy’s self-described workplace motto — “Happy to be here, easy to work with!” — was nearly tested when she got the official word in October 2015 that she was being let go from The CW’s Arrow, four seasons in.

'I Don't Want to Do This': The Flash Star Reveals Which Episode Made Him Leery
Image
Grant Gustin revealed his initial reaction to The Flash's "Duet" episode. Fans consider that Supergirl crossover a highlight of the Arrowverse, especially Kara Danvers and Barry Allen's musical number.

The Flash was the best show in The CW's Arrowverse. Fans went through a rollercoaster of emotions across nine seasons of The Flash, especially its crossover episodes. Season 3's "Duet" caught audiences by surprise, however; the plot involved Kara Danvers and Barry Allen trapped in a musical dreamworld. "Duet" was surreal because it broke from the show's grounded narrative, but audiences loved the novelty. Critics praised "Duet" for its lighthearted tone and endearing ensemble, but Grant Gustin had reservations about filming that episode; he told Michael Rosenbaum that "Duet" was an odd turn for the show.

'I Had a Short Fuse': Stephen Amell Reflects on the Struggles of Shooting Arrow

Arrowstar Stephen Amell recently opened up about the struggles he faced while filming the popular CW series. He also shared his early experiences interacting with fans online.

Amell played billionaire playboy turned vigilante Oliver Queen in all eight seasons of the show that launched the Arrowverse for The CW, and while the role skyrocketed him to fame, it wasn’t all positive experiences for Amell. Speaking with Variety, he described his experience as like being “shot out of a cannon” and admitted that he never really enjoyed shooting 10 months out of the year - despite being extremely grateful for Arrow. “The first two or three years of Arrow, I was gripping so tight. I was white-knuckling it,” Amell said, speaking about what he learned from the show.

'I Loved Seeing Him Geek Out': Tyler Hoechlin Recalls The Flash Star's Reaction to Seeing His Superman for First Time
Image
Before James Gun rebooted all of DC’s media, the Arrowverse was the staple shared continuity of DC’s super heroes on tv. The series of connected tv shows, which began when Arrow premiered on the CW back in 2012, was arguably bigger and definitely better than any of Snyder’s Dceu films or projects.

For a long time, the shared TV shows allowed heroes such as Green Arrow and The Flash to interact and share a space on screen, with their yearly crossovers consistently growing in scale, you always had a guarantee of a big superhero team up. It wasn’t until the Elsewords crossover event that we got to see two of the big Justice League members interact however, and - if you thought you were freaking out - apparently so were the stars themselves.

Arrow stars Emily Bett Rickards and David Ramsey have revealed their favorite Arrowverse crossover. Starring Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, The CW series spawned a universe of interconnected shows, including The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, and Batwoman, with Supergirl and Black Lightning eventually joining the fold.

Rickards and Ramsey were at Megacon, where the pair responded to Cbr's question regarding which show they most enjoyed crossing over with the most. "I liked going to The Flash because they were so happy over there," Rickards said. Ramsey discussed the difficult logistics and problems with tonality that came with making The Flash and Arrow crossovers happen but still enjoyed them. He especially enjoyed seeing Amell in Grant Gustin's Flash suit. "They were logistical nightmares," he said. "The Flash was on the other side of the wall and couldn't be more different. Having played the iconic DC character the Flash longer than anyone, Grant Gustin has now given insight into how he kept the Scarlet Speedster fresh for so long. Gustin played the Barry Allen incarnation of the character in The CW's The Flash for nine seasons and also appeared in crossovers and other shows across the Arrowverse.

10 Times the Arrowverse Was Inspired by DC Comics
Image
With the series finale of Superman & Lois, the final window on the DC Comics-inspired universe known as the Arrowverse closed. Beginning in 2012 with Arrow and eventually expanding to include nine separate series, it is the most successful and prolific corner of DC's multiverse in live action. While the Arrowverse changed many characters and details to fit their story, the shared universe fully embraced the spirit of comic book storytelling.

DC purists will point out that many narrative and character details in the Arrowverse shows were significant departures from the source material. Oliver Queen was inspired by Batman as much as he was Green Arrow. Batwoman replaced Kate Kane with an original character after series lead Ruby Rose left the show. Superman & Lois began as part of the Arrowverse before changing course, but gave Clark Kent and Lois Lane two teenage sons. However, even when the Arrowverse departed from comics'...

While Eobard Thawne a.k.a Reverse Flash is Allen’s primary antagonist, season 2 of the series saw the appearance of Zoom, an evil speedster who is a serial killer before gaining abilities. Though physically performed by Teddy Sears, Tony Todd reportedly gave the character his menacing voice.

It's very common for actors to form intimate relationships while working on a production together. They do, after all, spend a lot of time working in close quarters. And sometimes quite often, in fact those relationships turn into outright romance. Especially if the actors are playing characters who are romantically involved.

This has happened several times in superhero films and TV shows. Amusingly, all three live-action Spider-Man actors have dated their leading lady. There have been seven (known) instances so far of superhero actors hooking up, and there might well be more in the future.

“We wanted to make sure he didn’t seem like jailbait”: Grant Gustin’s Romance With One Arrowverse Character is How He Got ‘The Flash’

The Flash was a spin-off of the 2012 show, Arrow and a part of the same fictional universe, called the Arrowverse. The show premiered on 7 October 2014 and ran for nine seasons until 24 May 2023. It received a positive response from the audience and even won the People’s Choice Award for Favorite New TV Drama in 2014.

Most fans don’t know that it was originally supposed to be a backdoor pilot, but Grant Gustin’s positive reception by the audience sealed the deal. The actor appeared twice on Arrow and his portrayal of Barry Allen won the audience over. Another aspect that got him the role was Gustin’s chemistry with actress Emily Bett Rickards aka, Felicity. The creators wanted to explore the pair and their possible romance inspired an entire show.

The franchise later grew in 2014 with The Flash, followed by Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman.

‘Arrow’ Felt The Pressure To Save The CW, Recalls Creator Marc Guggenheim
Image
Hey, no pressure, Arrow! Just save The CW if you can, m’kay?

That was the message Marc Guggenheim heard as the co-creator and executive producer of the DC Comics series that ran from 2012 to 2020 on the network. During Wednesday’s installment of The Showrunner Whisperer podcast, Guggenheim admitted that he felt “the pressure of keeping the whole network on the air.”

He added that then-Warner Bros. TV chairman Peter Roth “took us out to lunch and basically laid out for us in incredible detail the reality that if Arrow wasn’t a hit, there would be no more CW.”

For those that don’t recall the good ‘ol days of CW, Arrow was a superhero series from Guggenheim, Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg that was based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow. The series ended up spawning what was dubbed the Arrowverse, with spinoffs like The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl.

‘Booster Gold’ Nears Selection of Showrunner With Lead Role Already Filled
Image

Among these, ‘Superman’ is currently in production and slated for a 2025 release, while ‘Creature Commandos’ marks the inaugural project under the newly established Dcu label.

However, one project that receives relatively little attention within the Dcu lineup is the forthcoming ‘Booster Gold’ TV Show, centered around the titular hero.

James Gunn recently disclosed that the show is in active development but won’t enter production in the near future. However, industry insider Daniel Richtman now divulges that the show is on the verge of securing a showrunner, and the lead character has already been cast. These developments confirm suspicions stemming from recent social media remarks.

When Gunn & Safran took over DC Studio as co-chairmen and co-CEOs, they announced a complete overhaul of the old Dceu and announced a large number of projects ranging from live-action movies to live-action TV shows and animated series. We know that several projects are currently in production such as ‘Superman’ bound to be released in 2025 and ‘Creature Commandos’ the first project to be released under the newly coined Dcu label.

“We never knew if we’d get Season X”: Marc Guggenheim Has Already Revealed Why First 2 Seasons of Arrow Will Always be the Best
Image
It’s not uncommon for shows to lose their spark when they go on for too long, and this is pretty apparent in most CW shows, especially the Arrowverse, which kickstarted with Arrow in 2012. Despite starting on a high note that led to The Flash’s launch, which too was showered with laudation by fans and critics, there wasn’t a constant flow of quality in their latter seasons.

In hindsight, it’s not surprising to see why this was the case, as Marc Guggenheim, one of its creators, recalled they didn’t initially start out with an interconnected universe in mind.

Marc Guggenheim Explained Why the Initial Seasons of Arrow Peaked

A still from Arrow | CW

After Smallville concluded in 2011, CW hired Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg, and Greg Berlanti to make Arrow, which was initially intended to be a Smallville spin-off. However, this idea was dropped shortly after as...

James Gunn Discredits Newest Speculation Surrounding Upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ Dcu Series
Image
The Dcu is bustling with various projects underway, from the animated ‘Creature Commandos’ to the highly anticipated ‘Superman’ slated for a 2025 release, and the recently updated release date for ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’

Among these, the upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ TV show, centered around the titular hero, often flies under the radar.

A recent production listing indicated that ‘Booster Gold’ was set to begin filming on July 8th. James Gunn and Peter Safran were listed as producers, and John Papsidera as casting director. However, this raised eyebrows considering this year was earmarked for ‘Superman,’ ‘Waller,’ and ‘Peacemaker’ season 2. James Gunn himself addressed the speculation on his Threads account, confirming that ‘Booster Gold’ is indeed in development but production is not imminent.

It’s logical to assume that if production were truly imminent, we’d already be inundated with leaks and rumors about casting, costumes, and the overall plot of the show.

James Gunn Debunks Latest Rumors Tied to Upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ Dcu Show
Image
Dcu has plenty of projects in the works, starting with the animated ‘Creature Commandos’ to ‘Superman’ bound to be released in 2025, and ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ which recently got a release date update.

One project that is rarely talked about when it comes to the Dcu is the upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ TV Show, focusing on the hero of the same name.

Recently, a production listing stated that ‘Booster Gold’ is entering production on July 8th. James Gunn was listed as producer along with Peter Safran, with John Papsidera being credited as casting director. While this did seem odd since we know that this year was reserved for ‘Superman,’ ‘Waller’ and ‘Peacemaker’ season 2 production, our suspicions were confirmed by Gunn who debunked the whole thing via his Threads account.

Gunn cleared up that ‘Booster Gold’ is still being worked on but production is not imminent.

This makes sense, if the production was truly this close,...

Dcu Secures Booster Gold Lead After Show Receives Major Production Update

When Gunn & Safran assumed leadership roles as co-chairmen and co-CEOs of DC Studio, they unveiled plans for a comprehensive revamp of the old Dceu, introducing a multitude of projects spanning live-action films, television series, and animated shows.

While several projects are currently in production, including the highly anticipated ‘Superman’ slated for a 2025 release and ‘Creature Commandos,’ the inaugural project under the newly established Dcu label, one project that has received relatively little attention is the upcoming ‘Booster Gold’ TV Show, centered around the titular hero. However, it appears that this will soon change, as the show has received a significant production update.

As per the Production List, the show is slated to commence production on July 8, 2024, just a few weeks from now. This suggests that DC Studio has likely secured its Booster Gold. Apart from this detail, the production listing is rather limited, which is typical for projects of similar magnitude.

10 TV Side Characters Who Later Became Main Protagonists
Image
Some side characters become protagonists due to fan response and great performances. Characters like Kramer, Daryl Dixon, and Arya Stark have evolved to become central figures. Felicity Smoak, Cassie Howard, and Blaine Anderson are examples of side characters turned leads.

Some TV shows introduce side characters that immediately steal the spotlight and the hearts of the audience, resulting in the character being upgraded to a protagonist for the rest of the show. When a TV show begins airing, there is typically a main protagonist or a small group of protagonists who are joined by several side characters. These minor characters typically act as support, aiding the protagonists, but sometimes, they evolve beyond that role.

When a side character is particularly well cast, likable, or charming, it can frequently lead to fans falling for the supporting character and calling for them to have an increased role. While not every TV series...

10 Best Green Arrow Trick Arrows in DC Lore
Image
Green Arrow's trick arrows, such as the Flashbang Arrow and Microphone Arrow, give him a versatile range of weapons. The iconic Boxing Glove Arrow allows Green Arrow to attack from a distance without being lethal. The Emp Arrow and Phantom Zone Arrow are powerful trick arrows that give Green Arrow an advantage over technology and superpowered opponents.

Despite his baffling range of trick arrows, Green Arrow may seem like a hero who isn't very intimidating. After all, he's just a man with a bow and arrow. But being underestimated is what has allowed Oliver Queen to become so dangerous, since his arrows pack a lot more punch than villains tend to expect.

Instead of constantly firing the same old regular arrow at his opponents, Green Arrow has a plethora of fancy trick arrows that he can use. Between the classic Boxing Glove Arrow and the more rare Kryptonite Arrow, Oliver...

Disgraced Arrowverse EP Andrew Kreisberg Charged With Forcible Touching at a Bar Mitzvah
Image
Andrew Kreisberg, a once prominent executive producer for The CW DC superhero dramas such as Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, was fired by Warner Bros. in November 2017 after it launched an investigation into sexual harassment allegations filed against him by co-workers. Kreisberg has always denied the allegations. Now, a new report reveals Kreisberg was arrested and charged with forcibly touching a woman at a bar mitzvah in New York in March 2023. In 2017, 19 of Kreisberg’s former colleagues (15 women and four men) on the DC superhero shows described multiple incidents of inappropriate touching and sexual harassment that they either experienced themselves or witnessed to Variety. The sources spoke on condition of anonymity out of fear of retaliation from the network, the studio, or other colleagues. The report was published on November 10, 2017. Around the same time, Warner Bros. informed the outlet that it had suspended Kreisberg and were investigating the allegations.

Fired Warner TV Producer Andrew Kreisberg Was Charged With Forcibly Touching a Woman at a Bar Mitzvah
Andrew Kreisberg in Na Na Na Batman (2014)
Andrew Kreisberg, the disgraced former Warner Bros. Television writer and producer, was arrested and charged for forcible touching during a March bar mitzvah celebration in New York.

Vanity Fair’s Maureen Ryan, one of the reporters who was among the first to break the story of Kreisberg’s allegedly inappropriate workplace behavior, was the first to report the story. According to the woman who made a statement to the police about the incident, she was eating and enjoying the party at a high-top table. That’s when Kreisberg approached her and started to put his arms “all over my arms and back.”

“He then slid his hands around my waist, grabbed my waist firmly, and thrust his fully erect penis into my buttocks twice,” the statement reads.

In the wake of the incident, Kreisberg was charged and arrested for misdemeanor forcible touching. Both Kreisberg and his legal team has maintained...

Green Arrow's Joker Is Even More Extreme Than Batman's
Image
The Joker is one of the most terrifying villains in all comic book history, but Green Arrow's version of the Joker is way more disturbing. While Joker is undeniably a horrifying villain, he is still just a regular human. Green Arrow's version of the Joker is a trained military professional, which makes her terrifying.

Green Arrow has had many different villains over the years, from Onomatopoeia to Brick. He's had great villains, such as Malcolm Merlyn, but few villains in comics can match the iconic status of the Joker. The Joker has been a thorn in Batman's side for decades, and he has caused untold amounts of destruction and death across Gotham City. Joker is one of the most dangerous men to ever exist in the DC Universe, which is surprising, considering one widely-accepted Joker backstory paints him as a failed comedian forced into crime. This is one of the...

The Flash Finale Review
Image
After nine seasons, The Flash has made its final run, closing out the series and the entire Arrowverse, where The CW's Dctv programming has maintained a shared continuity for the past decade. The series finale, titled "A New World, Part Four," concludes the four-part storyline that saw the show reexamine its history with a full-on supervillain reunion. It isn't a perfect episode, but The Flash delivers a satisfying finale, putting a solid cap on an uneven series.

As the Legion of Zoom and Team Flash go to war across Central City, Iris West-Allen prepares to give birth to her and Barry's daughter, Nora, while reality hangs in the balance. The Flash Season 9 Episode 12 Review
Image
The Flash is down to its penultimate episode, poised to wrap up the series and the entire Arrowverse that unified The CW's Dctv programming for a decade. The third installment of the concluding storyline, titled "A New World," sets up its final confrontation with a time travel trip to 2049. However, like the episode preceding it, The Flash's usual bad habits continue to make this end run an uneven mess and squander the storyline's potential.

Barry Allen and the Negative Speed Force Crystal are transported to 2049 as the Negative Speed Force continues to search for an avatar to destroy Barry and rewrite the timeline. Barry is joined by Eddie Thawne, who has been mysteriously resurrected in the future and is upset by the life he threw away in an unsuccessful bid to stop the Reverse-Flash from existing.
