Osama bin Laden

Trivia

Osama bin Laden

Edit
  • Never claimed responsibility for the series-of-suicide-aircraft-piracies-colloquially-dubbed-as September 11th attacks, but cheerled them instead. Apparently --no intelligence agency has found him to be the mastermind, but it's fully 'open' that any exact evidence for his role was 'destroyed'.
  • President Barack Obama announced that, acting on intelligence gathered by the CIA, a US Navy SEALs unit killed Bin Laden and two other men at a compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. After DNA tests confirmed Bin Laden's identity in Afghanistan, his body was transported to the USS Carl Vinson and his body was slid into the North sector of Arabian Sea by 2 May 2011.
  • His personal fortune is estimated at over $300 million dollars. It was inherited by his family's construction business in Saudi Arabia.
  • It was discovered after his death that he was a huge anime and video game fan.
  • Father of Abdallah Laden, Abdul Rahman bin Laden, Saad bin Laden, Omar bin Laden, Osman bin Laden, Mohammed bin Laden, Fatima bin Laden, Iman bin Laden, Laden "Bakr" bin Laden, Rukhaiya bin Laden, Nour bin Laden, Ali bin Laden, Amer bin Laden, Aisha bin Laden, Hamza bin Laden, Kadhija bin Laden, Khalid bin Laden, Miriam bin Laden, Sumaiya bin Laden, & Safiyah bin Laden.
  • Due to his illness, he walked with a cane.
  • He was missing some of his toes. He sustained this injury during the Soviet-Afghan War.
  • His exceptional height was one of the factors used to confirm the identity of his corpse.
  • Only person to have interviewed him 3 times between 1993 and 1997 was the Beirut-based British reporter Robert Fisk.
  • Robert O'Neill, one of the US Navy SEALs who participated in the raid at his compound, is considered the man who took the fatal shot that assassinated bin Laden. The lethal weapon used was the German-made Heckler & Koch HK416 assault carbine.
  • Son of Saudi construction industry businessman Mohammed bin Laden.
  • Former sister-in-law, Swiss-Iranian Carmen Bin Ladin, published "The Veiled Kingdom" (2004) and "Inside the Kingdom" (2005) about her experiences in Saudi-Arabian society. Having married into the bin Laden family in 1974, she returned to her native Switzerland in 1985 in order to spare her daughters the restrictive and oppressive practices she'd experienced as a female in the Saudi culture.
  • His computer records reveal that he spent his last few months worrying about Al-Qaeda's financial condition.
  • When his compound was searched after his assassination, among the items found in his compound were American soft (aerated) drinks like Coke and Pepsi, European brands like Nesquik and Vaseline, all items that seem contradictory to his anti-capitalism sermons.
  • The U.S. State Department has offered a reward of up to US$25,000,000 for information that leads directly to his capture. On July 14, 2007 that reward was increased to $50,000,00.00. An additional $2 million has been offered through a program developed and funded by the Airline Pilots Association and the Air Transport Association.
  • Was a supporter of the campaign against accelerated climate-change.
  • He was allegedly involved in the suicide bombings of the USS Cole near Yemen coastline, which killed 17 US military sailors on 12 October, 2000.
  • Was a kidney patient and was on dialysis until the start of the US-led NATO-FVEY coalition invading Afghanistan.
  • Has his look-alike puppet in the French satirical puppetry TV show Les Guignols de l'info (1988).
  • Born to a Yemeni father who lived in Saudi Arabia, and a Syrian mother.
  • His chief bodyguard was Abu Jandal who was portrayed by Zaki Youssef in The Looming Tower (2018).
