Indonesian auteur Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes for Us, May the Devil Take You, V/H/S/94) is back with new movie The Shadow Strays, and it’s headed to Netflix soon.

The Shadow Strays premieres on Netflix October 17, 2024.

In The Shadow Strays, “Codename 13 (Aurora Ribero), a 17-year-old trained assassin, is under suspension because of a sloppy mission in Japan. The girl built a conscience when she met Monji, an 11-year-old boy who lost his mother to a crime syndicate.

“When Monji is captured, 13 is hell-bent on setting a path of destruction to rescue the boy, including going against her mentor and the organization that hires her, the Shadow.”

Hana Malasan, Taskya Namya, Agra Piliang, Andri Mashadi, Adinia Wirasti, Nobuyuki Suzuki, Tanta Ginting, Ali Fikry, and Kin Wah Chew also star.

Netflix’s Halloween Horror Lineup Includes Slasher ‘Time Cut’, ‘The Platform 2’ and More

Netflix has just announced its complete Fall 2024 lineup, giving us premiere dates for a small handful of horror movies coming to the streaming service this Halloween season.

Netflix previews in an official statement, “Netflix is firing up a new slate of thrilling titles just in time for autumn, and you’re invited to sit down and warm up. So turn on the TV and take a peek at your options — there are plenty of new movies just around the corner this fall.”

Indonesian auteur Timo Tjahjanto (The Night Comes for Us, May the Devil Take You, V/H/S/94) is headed to this year’s Toronto International Film Festival with new movie The Shadow Strays, and the official poster art for the Netflix release has debuted today.

In The Shadow Strays, which will World Premiere at TIFF 2024…

“A young assassin breaks rank from her clandestine organization to rescue a young boy from gangsters with ultra-violent repercussions.”

The cast includes Aurora Ribero, Hana Malasan, Taskya Namya, Agra Piliang, Andri Mashadi, Adinia Wirasti, Nobuyuki Suzuki, Tanta Ginting, Ali Fikry, and Kin Wah Chew.

‘Call My Agent,’ ‘Doctor Foster’ Adaptations Lead Disney+ Hotstar Indonesia Push

Indonesian adaptations of hit series “Call My Agent” and “Doctor Foster” are among six series that are part of the Disney+ Hotstar push into the territory.

“Hubungi Agen Gue!” (“The Talent Agency”), the adaptation of “Call My Agent,” was the new title revealed on Wednesday at the Disney Content Showcase held at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands convention center. Industry veteran Mira Lesmana serves as showrunner for the series that follows four agents in an Indonesian talent agency as they struggle to save their business following the death of the company’s founder.

Stars include Donny Damara, Hannah Al Rashid, Yoga Pratama and Lydia Kandou and each episode will feature A-listers guest-starring as themselves in keeping with the global format. The series is produced by Lesmana, Riri Riza and Sk Global Entertainment and directed by Teddy Soeriaatmadja. It has wrapped principal photography, Lesmana said.

Also revealed was a second season for “Wedding Agreement.

BBC Studios, Screenplay, Disney Plus Hotstar Pact for “Doctor Foster” Indonesian Adaptation

BBC Studios property “Doctor Foster” is being adapted by Screenplay Films for Disney Plus Hotstar in Indonesia. “Doctor Foster” is the story of a doctor whose life implodes when she uncovers her husband’s infidelity. The show title in Indonesia will be “Mendua” (Between Two Hearts) and Pritagita Arianegara (“Surga yang Tak Dirindukan 3”) will direct.

Adinia Wirasti (“Critical Eleven”) stars in the lead role of Dr. Sekar M. Atmajaya, with Chicco Jerikho (“Foxtrox Six”) playing her husband Ivan, and Tatjana Saphira (“Sweet Twenty”) in the role of Bella.

Production on the 8 x 45’ Indonesian adaptation is underway with Wicky V. Olindo (“Gundala”) producing, Anthony Buncio as executive producer/showrunner and Thaleb Wahjudi as co-producer. The local adaptation has been developed by Keke Mayang, Sinar Ayu Massie, and Dono Indarto. The series will stream on Disney Plus Hotstar later this year.

“In the Absence of the Sun”, Lucky Kuswandi’s second feature film, won him the Best Director Award from the Indonesian Film Director’s Club, screened at a plethora of festivals all over the world, and established him as one of the most promising new directors of Indonesian cinema.

The script revolves around three women living in Jakarta, who spend an equally meaningful night in the capital of Indonesia, as they define both their pasts and their futures. Gia is a 32-year-old filmmaker who has just returned from New York, and tries to readapt to her place of birth. She decides to call Naomi, a woman whom she used to live with in New York, and seems to be more than a friend, and the two of them go out for a drink. ‘Sacred Games,’ ‘Miss Sherlock’ Win Asian Academy Creative Awards
Hulu Japan and HBO Asia’s “Miss Sherlock” won best drama series at the inaugural Asian Academy Creative Awards. The awards were spread over two evenings at Singapore’s Capitol Theatre on Friday and Saturday.

India’s Anurag Kashyap won best direction (fiction) for season one of Netflix original series “Sacred Games.” The series also won best editing for Aarti Bajaj. Adinia Wirasti won best actress for Indonesia’s “Critical Eleven,” a Starvision production for Hooq while China’s Yu Hewei won best actor for “The Hunter,” produced by Jetsen Huashi Wangju (Changzhou) Cultural Media Co.

Indonesia’s Michael Kho won best supporting actor for Viu show “Kenapa Harus Bule?” while Taiwan’s Candy Yang won best supporting actress for “Roseki,” by Content Digital Film Co and Hakka TV.
