John Cena’s Retirement Tour Ruined: WWE Just Made the Worst Booking Decision of All Time
Image
John Cena’s retirement tour is ruined after he is set to face Logan Paul for Clash in Paris. The clash was made official after an intense promo during the recent episode of Friday Night SmackDown. Many wrestling enthusiasts now perceive it as the worst booking decision of all time, since it can produce a result even more dreadful than what happened at WrestleMania 41.

The face-off between these WWE superstars is a major step back by the company after it hinted towards a dream match between Cena and Brock Lesnar following his WWE return at SummerSlam 2025.

Why Did WWE Step Back After Teasing John Cena vs Brock Lesnar for Clash in Paris? John Cena staring at Brock Lesnar’s entrance at SummerSlam 2025. (Image Credit: WWE)

There could be a variety of reasons why WWE has deliberately taken a step back from the iconic clash between these prolific in-ring performers. Nothing,...

John Cena’s Best Finisher Looks Like a Joke After Losing to Cody Rhodes
Image
The match between John Cena and Cody Rhodes at SummerSlam 2025 was a hot topic, featuring a spectacle of a street fight, marked by Brock Lesnar’s return. However, fans were visibly upset with how poorly the entire match was booked, making the challenger destined to win the Undisputed WWE Championship. Worse than that, Rhodes made the Goat’s finisher look like a joke.

During the match, Cena executed a total of 8 Attitude Adjustments to Cody Rhodes, including one on the announcer’s table, on the ramp, and an Avalanche AA, but to everyone’s surprise, he kicked out. The whole match looked like a joke because this is the same move that has defeated the likes of Aj Styles, Randy Orton, Dwayne Johnson, Big Show, and many more.

What made it frustrating was that the move not only lost its essence, but also how a double Cross Rhodes was enough to put away the champ.

‘WWE Raw’ Review (Aug 4th 2025)
Image
Welcome to our review of this past Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, right here on Nerdly! Let’s see what went down on this week’s show…

Match #1: Sheamus vs. Rusev (Double Count-out) The following is courtesy of wwe.com:

Sheamus and Rusev continued their epic rivalry, trading haymakers and brutality as Sheamus hit an enormous White Noise from the top rope. The Celtic Warrior slammed Rusev on the table, but The Bulgarian Brute threw Sheamus into the ring steps. Rusev mocked Sheamus, delivering his own version of The Beats of the Bodhran outside the ring. Sheamus pummeled Rusev with the classic 10 Beats of the Bodhran. After the two sets of the Beats of the Bodhran, Rusev and Sheamus were counted out. After the match, Sheamus and Rusev kept brawling, despite officials trying to separate them.

My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Penta def. Grayson Waller The following is courtesy of wwe.

‘WWE SummerSlam 2025: Night 2’ Review
Image
After a chaotic, story-heavy Night 1, WWE returned to MetLife Stadium for the second half of its ambitious two-night SummerSlam event. Night 2 focused more on emotional storytelling and satisfying conclusions, though, true to WWE form, it still delivered one last gut-punch surprise before the lights went out.

Things kicked off with a fast-paced Triple Threat for the Women’s World Championship, with Naomi, Rhea Ripley, and Iyo Sky putting on one of the better opening matches of the year. Naomi retained her title with a clever roll-up after Ripley nailed Sky with a massive avalanche Riptide. It was quick, chaotic, and crisp. After the bell, Ripley’s gesture of lifting an injured Sky onto her back earned her huge cheers, an unexpected emotional beat that set the tone for the rest of the night.

Next up, Becky Lynch defended her Women’s Intercontinental Title in a brutal no-disqualification match against Lyra Valkyria.

WWE SmackDown: Cody Rhodes’ Heel Turn Inevitable After What Happened With John Cena
Image
Mark your calendars for August 3, because that will be the time when Cody Rhodes goes heel. The most recent segment of SmackDown was where John Cena seemingly gets tired of being a heel and apparently becomes a face again. This does not improve the situation because it now appears that WWE will bet on Rhodes being a more effective heel than Cena.

The Last Real Champion was embracing his former self, but The American Nightmare seemingly looked annoyed, as if he does not want to do anything with it. He listened to the whole announcement with a straight face and did not celebrate the triumph as he opened beers to celebrate and made a quick exit via YouTube.

This has hinted that he is tired of being the good guy and losing every time as he comes close to winning the gold. Now, if we look at the bigger picture,...

Did Cm Punk and Seth Rollins Pay Tribute to Hulk Hogan Despite the Hatred for the WWE Legend?
Image
Hulk Hogan has been quite a controversial figure in WWE, but that has not stopped WWE from giving him a fitting tribute last week on SmackDown and tonight on Raw. What made it more intriguing is how Cm Punk, the man who loathed The Hulkamaniac to the core, was present on the front row during his tribute. In his typical manner, Punk facially expressed that he was not too thrilled to be there.

However, not everyone had the same character growth as the Second City Saint. Seth Rollins and Aj Styles, who equally detest the wrestling icon, were absent during the 10-bell salute. Rollins’ absence could be understood, but Styles, who was later part of the show with the Kabuki Warriors, was taking on the Judgement Day. Thus, subtly conveying their indifference towards the Hall of Famer’s demise at the age of 71.

‘Tna: Slammiversary 2025’ PPV Review
Image
This year’s Tna: Slammiversary was a wild night packed with surprises, title changes, cross-promotional clashes, and the return of some legendary names. Tna leaned heavily into its multi-brand momentum, delivering a chaotic but memorable show with something for every fan.

The night kicked off hot with Cedric Alexander and Mustafa Ali renewing their long-standing rivalry. Their intense opening bout saw Alexander hit suplexes on the floor and a top-rope Michinoku Driver into a pile of bodies. But outside interference from Ali’s Order 4 stable, including a reappearing Tasha Steelz, proved too much. Alexander nearly won with a Lumbar Check, but Ali ultimately secured the victory after surviving the chaos and hitting a second 450 Splash.

In an eight-man tag team war, The System, joined by Matt Cardona, battled Nxt’s rising faction DarkState. The brawl began before the bell and never let up. Cutler James shined early, but momentum shifted...

“This is harassment”: Dominik Mysterio Clearly Not Happy With Aj Styles’ Relentless Gimmicks

Aj Styles has long set his sights on unseating Dominik Mysterio and taking his WWE Intercontinental Championship. However, Mysterio’s not being medically cleared has helped him evade The Phenomenal One for a while. It even led to their scheduled title match at Night of Champions Ple getting cancelled.

5 Best Tna Matches of Aj Styles That Will Put WWE Stars to Shame
Image
Ever since Aj Styles set foot in WWE, he has sent the WWE fans into a frenzy of exhilaration. Whether a heel or a babyface, Styles did live up to his name of the Phenomenal One, dishing out one fine match after another. Duking it out with the iconic likes of John Cena, Roman Reigns, The Undertaker, Randy Orton and Seth Rollins, Styles showed the WWE fans what he is capable of.

However, the Georgia Pitbull had another nickname, heading into WWE. He was called Mr. Tna and that was for a reason. Styles was the Nwa World Heavyweight Champion, Tna World Heavyweight Champion, Tna X-Division Champion and Tna World Tag Team Champion multiple times. The rivalries that he forged in the Tna, the ones with Abyss and Samoa Joe standing out head and shoulders above others, could very well have drawn comparisons to the once-in-a-lifetime clash between The Rock and John Cena.

Cody Rhodes Was Desperate to Bring Aj Styles’ Tna Nemesis to WWE That Will Never Happen Again

Retiring in WWE isn’t quite the same as hanging up the boots in other sports. More often than not, when a wrestler “retires,” it’s not really goodbye; they tend to find their way back into the squared circle eventually. We’ve seen it happen time and time again.

Recently, Cody Rhodes tried to do something similar by bringing back Aj Styles’ biggest rival from his Tna days. But that plan didn’t exactly go as hoped; to be precise, it failed miserably.

Professional wrestling is all about thrilling storylines, drama, and intensity inside the ring. But the rivalry is not limited to wrestlers. The feud between Shane McMahon and her sister Stephanie McMahon remains one of the most contentious executive contests in the WWE.

Who Was the Imposter Kane and 1 Major Mistake That Ruined His Gimmick in WWE
Image
The red background and eerie music, accompanied by fireworks around the ring, marked the intimidating presence of Kane. Respected as one of the most iconic figures during the Attitude Era, he got involved in some prominent storylines in the WWE and was largely appreciated by the fans for the kind of development the character had.

However, the conflict between the two Kanes in the WWE was a major standout point in the Kane character arc. An “Impostor Kane” storyline in 2006 introduced a plot twist that the fans weren’t ready for, and it bombed massively. As the two Kanes engaged in showdowns, the mystery over who the Impostor Kane was remained unanswered on screen for a long time. Several years later, the WWE universe got to know from the man himself as to why the gimmick failed.

Mark Henry Has a Diabolical Idea for John Cena’s Heel Turn That’s Way Better Than Triple H’s Script
Image
John Cena shocked everyone by turning heel at this year’s Elimination Chamber, betraying Cody Rhodes in the process. He then went on to snatch the title from Rhodes at WrestleMania and successfully defended it against Randy Orton at Backlash. However, Cena tasted his first defeat since turning heel in a tag team match against Rhodes and Jey Uso, thanks to some help from R-Truth.

Fans aren’t exactly thrilled with how things are unfolding, especially with Triple H’s approach to Cena’s farewell tour. But legendary wrestler Mark Henry has pitched an idea that seems way more exciting than anything Triple H has planned.

R-Truth is back in WWE after being let go by the company. Fans’ demand was just too strong to ignore, and WWE was compelled to bring back Truth. He wasted no time either, since the announcement of his release, showing up at Money in the Bank to take down John Cena in the tag team match.

Now, with R-Truth back in the promotion, fans are wondering if Triple H or Nick Khan might bring back some more WWE legends. But before looking into the big names who could return, let’s take a moment to understand why the company has been letting go of veteran stars in the first place.

Tna Star Who Had an Onscreen Relationship With Aj Styles, Julia Reilly Passed Away 2 Months Ago
Image
There are the best of storylines, there are the worst of storylines, and there’s Tna’s Claire Lynch storyline. The saga is an infamous part of Aj Styles’ wrestling career in Tna, which every fan would like to forget because of the allegations he was thrown at by Christopher Daniels and Kazarian.

The plot began with the Phenomenal One being accused of having an affair with the then-tna President, Dixie Carter. Later, Claire Lynch was introduced, who also claimed that she was pregnant with Styles’ unborn child and had ample proof.

However, the saga quickly thinned out because of a convoluted story, lack of believability, and poor acting. The fans had forgotten about the storyline but had a quick flashback when they learned the actress who played Lynch’s role had passed away.

5 Reasons John Cena Is a Better Entertainer Than The Rock in WWE
Image
WWE has witnessed legendary rivalries throughout its history, but few can match the impact of John Cena vs. The Rock. These two giants of the promotion are like the Goku and Vegeta of wrestling. Over the years, their rivalry wasn’t just about the fights; it was something personal for fans like us, too.

Debates over who was better would split even the closest of friends, and honestly, one thing is for sure: our childhood would have been a lot less interesting if these two were not around. It’s been years since they last faced off, but speculation is swirling about one final battle before Cena hangs up his shoes.

WWE Name That Samantha Irvin Loves to Announce the Most, It Includes Roman Reigns

In the high-octane and adrenaline-fueled drama, the wrestler takes all the credit for entertaining the fans. However, in professional wrestling, the most challenging job would perhaps be that of the announcer, who can make a drastic change to the feel of a wrestler and the live show.

Many tried to leave their mark on the microphone; they all failed in front of one name, Samantha Irvin. Though she has parted ways with WWE, her tenure in the company was legendary and praiseworthy. Every match felt like a high-stakes one, which added a layer of depth, eventually making her a beloved figure despite being an announcer.

Aj Styles’ Fake Retirement and Cheap Shot at Cody Rhodes is Still Better Than Anything Heel John Cena Has Done

WWE has always thrived on backstabbing and betrayals, and that’s a huge part of what makes it so wildly popular worldwide. As a fan, the unpredictability was always the thrill. You never really knew who was loyal to whom. One moment, best friends; the next, bitter enemies. And sometimes, even the fiercest rivals ended up standing side by side.

Long before Game of Thrones introduced us to its brand of deception, WWE had already perfected the art. If we’re talking about cheap shots and betrayals, don’t talk about Aj Styles’ fake retirement stunt on Cody Rhodes? That’d be downright criminal.

Not only has the Maverick proven himself to be an asset for the Stamford-based company, but his in-ring bouts that have left the fans hooked on the edge of their seats have garnered him opportunities that other pro-wrestlers could only dream of.

While seasoned wrestlers have to work their way around the year to get a match at WrestleMania, Logan Paul made his WWE debut at the Show of Shows. He got to work with The Miz up front and was up against Rey and Dominik Mysterio in his very first match. Even though the reception of Logan Paul has been widely critiqued, in his very first bout, he saved Rey from landing on his neck.

The Undertaker made his debut in WWE in 1990 as the mortician figure who was the mystery partner of The Million Dollar Man, Ted Dibiase. The night marked the start of what became one of the greatest legacies in professional wrestling as Undertaker went on to become a worldwide-renowned figure.

Roman Reigns Didn’t Want to Break up The Shield But He Couldn’t Say No to Vince McMahon

Just thinking about The Shield, i.e., Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose, as a WWE fan gives me goosebumps, for they were an absolute force. Their black tactical vests, their theme music, the brotherhood, and then they made history. But in 2014, Seth Rollins betrayed his brothers, splitting The Shield, and it made all the fans sick.

Later, Roman Reigns said he didn’t want them to break up either. He was young, still figuring out his place, and telling the big boss Vince McMahon no wasn’t an option. So he went on with the decision, and that was the start of his life changing forever.

John Cena has dominated WWE for more than a decade, from the rapper look of a determined youngster to a 17-time world champion. However, ever since his historic triumph at WrestleMania 41, things have taken a rather unprecedented turn.

The central basis of his heel turn in recent times is the announcement of his last run in the WWE. While Cena has announced the end of his career soon, the reality may be far from his words, particularly under these circumstances when he is no longer the advocate of hustle, loyalty, and respect he once held so morally high in his life.
