Steven Knight

A Military Series From The Creator Of Peaky Blinders Has A 100% Score On Rotten Tomatoes
Image
Steven Knight is a name that is only set to get bigger if he sticks to the most recent job he's been hired for. The creator of mold-breaking television drama "Peaky Blinders" has been tasked with penning Denis Villeneuve's James Bond movie, and given his impressive body of work, it's understandable to see why. Besides writing the Cillian Murphy-led gangster drama (which is getting a film of its own), he's also penned the likes of Jason Momoa's "See," along with recent boxing drama on Disney+, "A Thousand Blows." One show that's massively overlooked and shouldn't be, however, is a World War II drama that debuted on Epix before it changed to MGM+. This isn't some short-lived series, either, but one that has so far earned a distinguished score of 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Debuting in 2022, "Sas: Rogue Heroes" is based on the book "Sas: Rogue Heroes – the Authorized...

4 TV Shows From The Creator Of Peaky Blinders You Need To Watch Next
Image
It's been over a year since Netflix finally announced what all "Peaky Blinders" fans were waiting for: a feature-length film following the critically acclaimed six-season run of the beloved show. Over time, both old and new characters have been added to the roster of "The Immortal Man," which will reunite us with Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) after yet another near-death experience and being fooled into thinking he wasn't destined to survive. But what's next? With a release touted for some time in late 2025, neither the streaming platform nor the creators has provided an exact date. Will we get an update soon, or do we still have yet to wait on a gathering storm where comes a tall, handsome man in a dusty black coat with a red right hand?

It's certainly been a frustrating waiting game to get answers about the future of the "Peaky Blinders." In the meantime, though,...

‘Weapons’ Is the Original Summer Surprise We’ve Been Waiting for
Image
Warner Bros. has kept “Weapons,” its new original horror movie from “Barbarian” director Zach Cregger, close to the chest when it came to providing early looks to the majority of the entertainment press. Still, IndieWire’s “Screen Talk” co-hosts Anne Thompson and Ryan Lattanzio did finally get a chance to see the movie earlier this week, which is about 17 schoolchildren from the same class who go missing in the dead of night in a small town, leaving just one classmate behind.

And, lo and behold, it’s a brilliantly entertaining and twisty movie that Warner Bros. ought to want more critics and press to see.

The cast is terrific — Julia Garner as an alcoholic teacher bucking under mental torture by her students’ parents, Alden Ehrenreich as a mustachied cop, Josh Brolin as a brawny grieving dad, and Austin Abrams as a twitchy druggie who may have stumbled on the key to the mystery.

Cillian Murphy's 'Red Eye' Is Leaving Streaming Sooner Than Expected
Image
Cillian Murphy is now more than two years removed from his Oscar-winning performance in Oppenheimer, but one of his movies that’s more than 20 years old just got a disappointing streaming update. Murphy stars alongside Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) and Brian Cox (Succession) in Red Eye, the 2005 psychological thriller following a woman who accidentally befriends a terrorist on her flight who forces her to help him assassinate the U.S. Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security. Red Eye has been streaming on Netflix for the last few months, but the streamer has confirmed that the last day to watch the film will be on August 31. Red Eye earned an 80% from critics and 64% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and the film grossed $96 million at the box office against a $36 million budget.

Fortunately for fans who enjoy watching Red Eye regularly, the film is still streaming on Paramount+and for free on Pluto TV,...

The Fate of Steven Knight's 'This Town' Has Been Decided by BBC
Image

'Peaky Blinders' Creator Quietly Updates Fans on Season 3 of His Underseen WWII Masterpiece
Image
Steven Knight, the acclaimed creator behind the worldwide phenomenon Peaky Blinders, has provided a new update on the next chapter of his lesser-known but equally powerful series, Sas: Rogue Heroes. The World War II drama first premiered in 2022 and returned for a second season in January 2025. While it may not have gained the same global hype as Peaky Blinders, it’s a hidden gem with a perfect 100% critics rating on Rotten Tomatoes for both seasons. The show brings Knight’s signature gritty atmosphere, sharp character work, and stylized action to a real-life war story. Think of it as Peaky Blinders set in a war-torn desert.

In a recent news report, Knight revealed that Season 3 is already in active development. “I’m just completing the script as we speak. We start shooting very, very soon,” he confirmed. That’s a huge relief for fans who had to wait nearly three years between the first two seasons.

Prime Video Gets Back Into Bond With ‘007: Road to a Million’ Season 2 Trailer
Image
Amazon may have had some drama behind the scenes when it comes to its handling of the James Bond franchise — but the show must go on, as seen in the first trailer for Season 2 of “007: Road to a Million.”

Brian Cox leads the jet-setting reality competition show as The Controller alongside his right-hand woman Sofia (Frances McNamee). Plus, after a rather anticlimactic yet still enjoyable first season, Prime Video promises a reinvention to the Season 1 format.

“Returning as The Controller this time around, the series feels more high-octane, more immersive and definitely more Bond,” the actor said in a Thursday statement. “The challenges are bigger, the drama runs deeper and I’ve got the best seat in the house to watch it unfold.”

“In ‘007: Road to a Million’ Season 2, eight pairs of ordinary people embark on a thrilling 007-inspired global adventure. From climbing Bangkok towers to shark dives in the Bahamas,...

Sas: Rogue Heroes - The Band of Brothers Successor Resurging on Global Streaming Charts
Image
A Band of Brothers replacement show, Sas: Rogue Heroes, is experiencing a resurgence on global streaming charts. Created by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, Band of Brothers is widely regarded as one of HBO's greatest miniseries of all time through its accurate and visceral portrayal of D-Day and other pivotal moments during World War II.

While no show can truly replace Band of Brothers, Sas: Rogue Heroes is an arguably worthy successor. Helmed by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, it follows the British Army Special Air Services (Sas) throughout World War II's Western Desert Campaign in Egypt and Libya.

As per FlixPatrol as of August 5, Sas: Rogue Heroes is at the number eight spot on HBO Max's global streaming charts. It is in HBO Max's top 10 for 28 countries, including Greece, Spain, Portugal, and Sweden.

Helen Mirren’s The Thursday Murder Club Marks a Full-Circle Moment for Steven Spielberg
Image
The Thursday Murder Club is an upcoming crime-comedy starring Helen Mirren and co-produced by Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin Entertainment. As a result, it marks the Academy Award-winning director’s return to the crime-comedy genre after almost two decades, in the role of a producer.

Spielberg directed 2002’s Catch Me If You Can, starring Leonardo DiCaprio in the lead role. In the following years, Spielberg has mostly shied away from crime comedies, even as he amassed a lengthy list of producer credits. As a result, The Thursday Murder Club marks a full-circle moment for Spielberg, even if he isn’t directly involved with the project.

The Thursday Murder Club Marks Helen Mirren and Steven Spielberg’s Second Collaboration

Aside from marking a return to the crime-comedy genre, The Thursday Murder Club also marks Spielberg’s reunion with actress Helen Mirren. In the movie, Mirren plays the role of Elizabeth Best, a retired spy,...

Saddening Reason Why Joe Cole Left ‘Peaky Blinders’
Image
Joe Cole’s exit from Peaky Blinders was not exactly by order of the show’s global fanbase. Though his filmography is wide-ranging, he is still best known for playing John Shelby, the youngest of the iconic Shelby trio. What makes his departure even harder to accept is the reason behind it; Cole revealed he left because he felt he never got the chance to live up to his potential on the show.

The first four seasons of the iconic period drama aired on the BBC before the show moved to BBC One for the last two seasons. The show quickly grew a cult following when it was added to Netflix for viewing in the US and worldwide. From the get-go, it was established that Cillian Murphy‘s Thomas ‘Tommy’ Shelby was the head of the family, although he was the second-oldest brother.

Unfortunately for the fans, Tommy’s younger brother,...

BBC’s ‘Band of Brothers’ Replacement Featuring a ‘Game of Thrones’ Star Takes Over Global Streaming Charts

It seems that the world is itching for a bit of WWII-based action these days, with titles like Guy Ritchie’s The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare toppling the charts over at HBO Max. But, for those in need of something that will last a bit longer than a feature-length telling, they’re flocking to the streamer’s episodic offerings where Sas: Rogue Heroes is finding a new global audience. Right now, the star-studded BBC One production is making waves in more than a dozen countries, including Croatia, Greece, Norway, Serbia, and more, where, according to FlixPatrol, it’s toppling the platform’s Top 10 chart.

Set during the darkest and dismal days of WWII, Sas: Rogue Heroes centers on the true story surrounding how the British Army Special Air Service (known as Sas) got its start. The title follows closely with the tale outlined in Ben Macintyre’s 2016 novel of the same name and,...

Amazon CEO Backs Villeneuve’s Vision for Bond 26
Denis Villeneuve
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy used the company’s second-quarter earnings call to praise director Denis Villeneuve’s forthcoming James Bond adventure, telling investors that “James Bond is in the hands of one of today’s greatest filmmakers—we cannot wait to get started on 007’s next adventure.”

The endorsement follows Amazon MGM Studios’ June announcement that Villeneuve will direct the 26th entry in the franchise, with the filmmaker vowing to honor the series while charting “new missions to come.”

Long-time steward Barbara Broccoli, now easing away from day-to-day oversight, called Villeneuve “a fantastic filmmaker” and welcomed the hand-off after four decades at the helm. Her remarks came after a February joint venture granted Amazon creative control of 007, cementing the most significant rights shift in the series’ 62-year history.

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight was confirmed last week as screenwriter, joining producers Amy Pascal and David Heyman on the project.

Amazon CEO ‘Cannot Wait’ to Start Denis Villeneuve’s James Bond Movie
Image
Amazon can already hear the strains of John Barry’s iconic theme paired with that gun barrel shot — the one to which Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig have all leant their figures. CEO Andy Jassey said on a July 31 call (which highlighted his company’s better-than-expected Q3 earning) that “James Bond is in the hands of one of today’s greatest filmmakers,” and adding, “We cannot wait to get started on 007’s next adventure.”

Jassey is referring to none other than Denis Villeneuve, who was announced in June as the next director to take on the franchise — which already has 25 official releases in its canon. Villeneuve will have the unique position of being the first steward to not be collaborating with the Broccoli family, which has overseen every Bond movie since “Dr. No” in 1962.

Things are looking up for the next James Bond film, with Denis Villeneuve directing and Steven Knight penning the screenplay. An admitted Bond fan, Knight said he has high hopes for the franchise as it ventures into a new and bolder direction.

Steven Knight said writing the next James Bond film is a milestone for his career. That's quite a statement coming from Peaky Blinder's creator. "It's fantastic to be invited to do it," he told BBC 5 Live Breakfast. "I can't wait to get started." There's mounting anticipation about where the franchise is headed after Amazon acquired MGM; Daniel Craig's run has also ended, and fans are expecting a reboot. Tom Holland acknowledges “speculation” over possible James Bond casting
Tom Holland
His Spidey senses may be tingling but is he ready to hop into the Aston Martin? Tom Holland is just one of many names that has circled the role of James Bond, but he’s nowhere near ready to discuss any sort of possibility.

Tom Holland recently appeared on one of Gordon Ramsay’s programs, where the host couldn’t help but note that his own middle name was James, asking his guest, “Ever thought about using the word James for future movies going forward?” To which Holland coyly replied, “Listen, there’s speculation at the minute. We’ll keep it to a minimum for now. We’ll get there one day.”

But Gordon Ramsay pushed a bit more, asking Tom Holland if he could imagine what would happen to his life and career if he were to take over the role of James Bond from Daniel Craig. ”I mean,...

Tom Holland Breaks Silence on James Bond Casting News
Image
James Bond is one of the most recognizable characters of all time, and many great actors have left their mark after playing him. Following Daniel Craig's run as Bond in several films, everyone is looking forward to finding out who the next star is.

Many British actors have been fancasted in the role, including Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Idris Elba, Tom Hiddleston, Taron Egerton, and more. Among the casting rumors is Spider-Man's Tom Holland, who has experience in the action genre beyond his role as the superhero character. In a new interview on Gordon Ramsey's Scrambled, Holland finally addressed the rumors.

The interview, meant to promote Holland's alcohol-free beer brand Bero, has the actor join famous chef Gordon Ramsey on a cooking experience, which led to many interesting topics. One of them was James Bond. Around the 9:40 mark, the famous chef asked Holland whether he ever considered playing a character...

Amazon’s Under-30 Bond Hunt Puts Holland Centre Stage
Tom Holland
Tom Holland has tried to tame surging rumours that he is front-runner to succeed Daniel Craig as James Bond, telling Gordon Ramsay during a July 31 instalment of the YouTube show Scrambled that talk of 007 is “just speculation for now… we’ll get there one day.”

The 29-year-old’s caution has done little to cool industry chatter: Amazon MGM’s new Bond regime is understood to be compiling a shortlist of British actors under 30, and sources name Holland, Jacob Elordi and Harris Dickinson among those under active consideration.

Producer Barbara Broccoli signalled the youth pivot last November, saying the next 007 would likely be in his 30s and that “whiteness is not a given,” a break from past casting orthodoxies. Holland, for his part, has pursued the role before: in 2021 he pitched Sony an origin-story Bond film centred on a teenage spy, an idea the studio declined.

The timetable appears to align.

Tom Holland Plays Coy About James Bond Casting Rumors: “There’s Speculation”

If there’s any truth to rumors that Tom Holland is in the running to play James Bond, he’s keeping it top-secret for now.

As the BAFTA winner returns to one major franchise with Friday’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day teaser, he recently commented on “speculation” that he’s up for the coveted part in the Denis Villeneuve-helmed update of the franchise.

James Bond Contender Tom Holland Addresses Casting Speculation After Being Shortlisted
Image
While plans for Bond 26 are quickly gaining pace, Spider-Man star Tom Holland has responded to rumors that he is in contention for the hotly contested role. Set to be directed by Dune’s Denis Villeneuve, news only recently broke that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight had been tapped to write the next entry in the long-running spy franchise.

However, before Knight’s recent appointment as the Bond 26 screenwriter, reports intimated that Amazon MGM studios were potentially looking to cast an actor under 30 years of age as the next 007, and had named Holland, Saltburn’s Jacob Elordi, and Babygirl’s Harris Dickinson at the top of their James Bond shortlist.

During an appearance on chef Gordon Ramsay’s YouTube channel, Holland sought to downplay rumors of his inclusion on the 007 casting shortlist. Suggesting that they should keep the speculation to a minimum, Holland hinted that the actual answer...

Tom Holland is weighing in on the speculation that he could potentially nab the next 007 role.

While it’s not yet been announced who the new James Bond will be in Amazon MGM Studios’ future film, which will be directed by Denis Villeneuve (the Dune films) and written by Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders), there are several actors who’ve been rumored as possibilities to play the secret agent — one of which is Holland.

When speaking recently with Gordon Ramsay, the Spider-Man star was asked about the Bond rumors. “Listen, there’s speculation at the moment. We’ll keep it to a minimum for now. We’ll get there one day,” he responded with a smile.

The chef then took a moment to seriously ask Holland, “Can you imagine what’s going to happen to your life if you do? First of all, you’d love that opportunity, right?”

Tom Holland Says Bond Is the ‘Pinnacle’ for ‘Every British Actor’ Amid 007 Rumors, Calls Acting Breaks Important: ‘I’ll Probably Take a Bit More Time Off in 2027’
Image
Tom Holland is having one busy year with Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey” and the Marvel tentpole “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” essentially filming back to back. These movies are Holland’s first features since 2022’s “Uncharted,” and their theatrical releases next year will be the first time fans get to see him on screen since his Apple TV+ limited series “The Crowded Room” in 2023.

“I feel really blessed to be at a point in my career where I can take time off, reset, and come back ready to go,” Holland recently told GQ UK magazine amid an intentional slow-down in his acting output. “You can’t be in every movie, and you can’t do your best work when you’re burnt out.”

“What I’ve learnt is that it’s important to set boundaries – to be mindful about overworking,” he continued. “I’ve got a slightly busy year next year,...

Next James Bond Film Finds Its Screenwriter in Peaky Blinders Creator Steven Knight
Image
Director Denis Villeneuve's James Bondfilm finally finds its writer in Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.

Per Deadline, Knight has officially signed on as the screenwriter of the next James Bond film. The film will be directed by Dune director Denis Villeneuve, although no other major developments regarding the film's production have been released at this time. Amazon MGM Studios is still in the process of casting the next James Bond as of the time of writing.

Steven Knight's credits in film stretch back to 2001's Gypsy Woman, which was followed in 2002 by Dirty Pretty Things, the latter of which helped catapult Knight's career in the industry following generally rave reviews from critics. This marked a major departure from the sort of screenplays Knight was used to writing on series like Commercial Breakdown and Canned Carrott, and helped pave the way for hit series such as 2013's Peaky Blinders and 2017's Taboo.

Right before the film’s release, Angelina Jolie had filed for a divorce from Brad Pitt, citing irreconcilable differences between the two, alongside a barrage of other problems and accusations.

Things took a turn for the worse when rumors started spreading that Brad Pitt was having an affair with his Allied co-star Marion Cotillard, which caused the Hollywood couple to file for divorce.

The premise of the 2016 Steven Knight movie, which featured Pitt and Cotillard as two lovers during World War II, didn’t exactly help Pitt’s case either.
